Real quick impulse-vlog that I thought c. 3 of you might enjoy! See you back next week with some Real Proper Content: I’ve got some *accurate* costume movie recommendations for you. ;)
Yay! I always say that studying dress history is a blessing and a curse because now I know what the proper back panels of an 1780s gown look like, but I always annoy my friends with theses details every time we watch any historical drama.
I was just watching your Mrs. Crocombe gingerbread video and it inspired me to make ginger cookies today! It’s always a pleasure to find a Bernadette video in my recommendations.
As someone who desperately wants to make herself sooner wool skirts and is slightly terrified of actually sewing wool, please make a skirt sewing marathon video. ❤️

But she looked almost weepy! If someone looks at me all weepy-eyed, I'm gonna get weepy too! We'll keep setting off chain reactions of weeping at each other! What a mess!! What a weird, wet, weeping mess of a pair of aging, skinny GenX history hipsters... No, seriously... Know anyone like that? Must be willing to move to Toronto, Canada.
Bernadette: "How boring would five videos of me sewing skirts be?" Me, having watched preeeeeeeetty much every video about 20 times, including starting a pirate shirt himself....: "Uhhhhh... MAKE ALL THE THINGS!" :D
I don't know how often I've seen some of her videos (some more some less) but apart from that I'm literally the same and was just about to write that myself :D
Dont forget to kon mari the stash.....that for me was just the best. Someone else who despairs at the size and tasks ahead after only opening one box! ....does it bring me joy , one piece of elastic? It will do when it turns out to be the correct width and a bit too long! ....oh how we love her.....a kindred spirit.
I also just started on a shirt like the pirate shirt, even though I will make different sleeve cuffs and maybe a different neckline but the pattern is based of of hers and I use linen and cotton thread and sew by hand and I love it (I am sorry I am just very excited about sewing atm xD)
Omfg thats so true. Ive watched all her videos (and i mean all) atleast 3 times, some more. Her video-movies.. films are so good and rewatchable. Every time i watch one again i notice things i did not the last time. Ive learned so much from her films. Thank you, Bernadette, for this amazing content.
Yas, I usually re watch har videos and have the in the background while I'm painting or doing whatever, I love her voice so much I don't think I would ever be bored with this amazing human.
Bernadette: "How boring is it to watch five separate videos on making a skirt?" Me: "Not at all boring?" Nope, go ahead. Make a million skirt videos. I'll watch you hand sew random bits of fabric into tag blankets or hand fell random seams. Go off. Film it all. Or make one video with three skirts. Whatever you want to do, go for it.
I would have to say I _could_ get bored by that . . . With anybody other than Bernadette. I find myself riveted to the screen no matter what she’s doing.
"Who would want to watch 5 individual skirt videos." Me. Me would watch 5 individual skirt videos. When I'm anxious at night I watch your walking skirt videos and have probably watched both the modern Edwardian skirt and the Victorian walking skirt over 10 times each.
Tamara Brunner me 4! Please make individual videos Bernadette! I look forward to each and every time you see. I especially like these shopping trips! Gives me a destination to go to after the pandemic
"How boring is it to watch five separate skirt making videos?" Not even the slightest bit actually! We're all still stuck in quarantine and need something to binge besides Downton Abbey for the fiftieth time!
Get a VPN going and try to find Victoria, another historical series. Seriously a brilliant show, if you can find it. It's British (I'm assuming you're American sorry) and it's beautiful.
Sophie Kerr I LOVE Victoria!! If you’re willing to pay a bit, you can download the WETA video app, I think it’s 60$ for a year but I’m sure it can go monthly as well. That’s where I watch Victoria, NOVA, and so many other great shows and period dramas. Highly recommend if you can spare the money 💞
My daughter has started an online business. My fabric stash is only down one large Rubbermaid tote and barely 10 spools of thread. Lol Take care and be safe 😷
I was giving her (yes, my monitor) a side eye and out loud said: "You bought tweed, didn't you, you naughty you?" And I was SURE it was the shiny houndstooth one.
@@philosoftfurkitusjunkyard2462 A good woolen tweed is between €35,- and €70,- here. If she bought 6 yards, a 5,5 meter it would have cost her between €192,50 to €385,-
My husband and I were watching this vlog together and he was like "okay, but isn't the music too dramatic for just showing a lot of fabric?" And I was like O.O "NO?! That's the perfect music for showing these beautiful tweeds!" Husband: "So you feel this excited when you are fabric shopping?" "YESSS!" "...okay, learned something new today..." . XDXDXD. So Thank you Bernadette! Your video helped my husband to finally understand why I can spend 3 hours in a fabric store XD
I totally get excited vicariously watching her videos . Non of my friends understand the high of being in the creative process and finding that perfect tool or material . Its just super nice to know I'm not the only one who has clerks looking at them like " is he really this excited ,naw he must have a friend here stealing and hes the distraction " lol. I come from a small town all these gorgeous options are just kindling for my imaginations bonfire. Ill be buzzed all day and if im miserabke ill take out the project i cant get to yet and just drink in the materials because something beautiful is going to happen. It the futures promise. Lol
Who DOESN'T get this hype over fabric shopping. I actually got a decent but of money for Christmas, and the PLANS I have for fabric buying have me drooling
This feels kind of like that "soft apocalypse" aesthetic I've seen floating around. A young woman braves the wasteland to find...fabric. Not food, not medicine, but beautiful fabric to make beautiful clothing. Yes, there's a global pandemic that's virtually turned sections of the largest human cities on the planet into ghost towns, but people are still kind and there's still beauty and goodness in the world and people are doing more than just merely surviving. idk this video just gave me that weird sort of Ghibli-esque feeling that makes me both sad and warm at the same time
Wow 🤩 that’s deep (I was like “oooh, pretties... and shinies”) thank you 🙏🏽 Edit if I sound sarcastic I’m sorry, I’m not. Truly intrigued and grateful 😊
If I was ever to make it to the garment district I would need a ridiculous amount of $$. It would be a necessity to buy years worth of fabric since there is no true fabric shop even remotely close to me. (Sigh) and of course this pesky pandemic
I want to sit at her feet as she rocks in a rocking chair and tells me all about historical fashions and the projects she has made, she is internally a grandma and it's precious
Bernadette hopping through the garment district, touching ALL the tweed is the most wholesome thing I have seen today and it makes my little heart smile. ❤
I definitely want a bunch of skirt videos! I’m planning on making a bunch of skirts myself, so that would be both entertaining and useful. So here’s another vote for heaps of skirt videos!
"How boring is to watch five separate skirt making videos?" We would absolutely love to watch five separate skirt making videos, and will probably watch them more than once
I know, right?! That was literally four items...? So cool to know that it’s possible to be like this. I strive for this as the stars to shoot for, and have slowly learned to land somewhere in between hoarder and minimalist as my moon.
I found out about you after the peacock dress video. And I can’t resist leaving a comment to let you know that you are such a sweet, charming and knowlegeable lady. You have a dreaming vibe to you that I usually find in lively and powerful woman characters in classic English works such as The Little Women, Pride and Prejudice, The little Princess... Eventhough I have never had a chance to experience Britain by myself, I enjoy exploring your cultures as I am an English learner. Thank you for all of your dedication to build up such an inspiring channel!
"all the people that impulse buy just to have it in their stash are actually correct!" I AM VINDICATED! Also thank God I didn't realize the garment district had opened yet! Even though I horde supplies and live in Queens, I too always think, well if I need something I can just hop on the 7 over to the GD, no biggie. This had been a painful 6 months for that lol
That sentence made all of us knitters and crocheters who have been accused of having too much yarn (the technical term is SABLE - Stash Accumulation Beyond Life Expectancy) feel a whole lot better! ;)
No job here and I haven’t been anywhere since the beginning of March except to drive through the grocery pickup. I think I did actually go into two stores in March for quick groceries. It’s like being in solitary confinement. And I finally just stopped wiping down and spraying all of my groceries. If they’re packaged I just leave those in the bags for a day or two. Things for the fridge and freezer are just put away now. I used to have an elaborate set up in my garage for disinfecting, etc and finally stopped using it too much a couple of weeks ago. 🤞 PS I’m in NC
I had 93 yards of elastic at the start of quarantine. It was a mistake when I purchased it. I thought I would never, ever, use that much 1/4 inch black elastic... I used it all making masks. I also used about a quarter of my stash (solids) of quilting cotton making masks for the military (my brother in law needed them for his boat). So I made masks. When we were making pleated masks, I said "I can do that" because of Costuming Drama making pleated trim. I made surgical masks. I made shaped masks. I killed a sewing machine. I had very sore fingers...but it was really nice to be useful. And my compulsion to purchase 1 yard of all the pretty colors, was helpful. I will restock at some point. And I will enjoy that too.
I feel entirely justified in my stash. Much of which was clamored over after having been converted to masks. It does feel good when doctors and other health care professionals are asking you to make more for them!
Somehow I just got really happy imagining a crew of marines with the most colourful masks and beautiful pleats in them😊😆 (although I'm curious how some of that pleated trim would have looked like on them😂)
@@wolveshowling26 It was just the technique to do pleats...I am a quilter, and I normally make them by hand sewing everything. I had never pleated before....but I knew high heat, lots of steam, lots of pins...no trim...Your imaginings are hysterical to me (like I almost fell off my sewing chair, which I needed)... I had every shade of blue, green, black, gray, brown that Kona cotton came in. The masks had to be solid, that did not clash with the Uniform of the day. When you had 30 yards of dark blue, no one cared if they were all the exact shade. I did my best to match the BUD's. And my BIL, who is Captain of a Submarine, just needed masks to protect his crew.
@@mjgbabydragonlet Nice to hear I lightened up your day a bit! I have the greatest respect for you sewing so many masks, I don't know how big your bil's crew is, but I sew and sail on a three mast ship with 50+ people so the masses of masks I am imagining on a pile are humongous😅
"How boring is it to watch five separate skirt making videos?" is now the right time to admit that during these last few months i've watched all the contents of this channel a minimum of 5x over? no? I'm not a creep, I promise. Just in love with your editing.
"All the people that impulse buy just to have it in their stash are actually correct!" finally I can defend my purchases of art and craft supplies, as we were sewing hundreds of masks out from 20 years old fabrics :D Can't wait to see what work of art you're going to made with this lovely tweed :3 I never actually quarantined things i bought neither know a person who does it :D is it normal in USA? :o
In the beginning there was a video of a doctor washing his groceries that made the rounds. We also didn’t know the virus’ longevity. People did quarantine items in their garage or elsewhere for a few days. I did. (Not perishable food.) Now I leave it out for about a day and then bring it inside. I don’t know if it is at all effective, but in the US it is something people do.
I haven’t quarantined anything. Just cautioned about the items. And threw away the plastic bags. Luckily in my area there are low numbers and not many have gotten sick 🤞🤞and masks worn by my daughter and myself ((where is the face mask emoji?!!?!!!??????))) oh well
I've been washing things like clothing i've purchased and already wash my fresh veg and fruit. I also make sure not to touch anything i'm not 100% buying. Everything i purchased gets at least a wipe over or a spray with a sanitizer spray. .... haven't heard of people putting things in quarantine here though. (UK resident) ..... but then again, we are in a 2nd national lockdown so what do we know at this point 😒🤔😟😭.
I know of many people in Japan who were sanitizing everything they brought home even before the pandemic. We never quarantined anything in my household (US), but being broke and only buying essentials, I usually need everything I buy very quickly.
That tweed is what dreams are made of! Additionally: A possible use for that gorgeous ribbon would be trimming the hem of an Edwardian inspired walking skirt, many of which featured ribbon detailing. The ribbon is far too fancy to be used in a historical reproduction skirt, but on, say, a black wool history bounding skirt?
More like "Thank God, it's the flower woman again!" Bernadette is 100% the reason I always go to the Garment District when I go to NYC. If we ever get to go to NYC!
Mette Petersen You needn’t be a sewer. You just need to fall in love with some fabric, buy it, and then commission someone to make something for you. Fun fact, that’s what my friends do to me. Except my sewing skills are far inferior to one, Miss Bernadette, and I limit my friend sewing projects to simple things. :) My bff doesn’t sew but she will happily accompany me to the fabric store and touch pretty textiles
Ok, I have to admit, having lived in small town Canada all my life, I really had no idea what all the fuss was about with the "garment district"..... but oh how my eyes have been opened! I swear I heard a chorus of Angel's sing when I saw all that lace... sigh❤... that's what heaven must look like
It was so beautifully videographed (Why don’t I know the proper word for this?) that I actually got goosebumps when the camera panned down that long row of lace after all of those beautiful ribbons!
Do you ever dream of winning a lottery just so you can buy out several stores of amazing fabrics and trimmings? Thanks for taking us on the trip to the Garment District... suffering pangs of envy, with love from rural Newfoundland
I just spent a day and a half planning out and drawing my dream sewing room- even though I’ll never have the money to build my own home (which would be required for said sewing room). It’s a lovely drawing, fully scaled. And yes, I also dream of the fabrics and trimming that I would fill the copious storage in my dream sewing room with. I thought that was a normal daydream.
@@rulahydon1301 Ooohhhh... wow... would agree on the moss-green silk velvet and the cambric... but there is a blue cotton floral toile (indiennes) based on a 1760 Alsacian design that I would love to turn into a robe a la francaise... and some pink floral silk brocaded taffeta for a robe a l'anglaise... and perhaps some harris tweed - I've always wanted an early 1950s indestructable country house lady's skirt to wear with a good pair of brogues.. lol... good exercise
In reference to your question about quarantining items: according to my research (medical and scientific academic journals and pre-published peer-review) the virus is quite fragile on surfaces, insofar that it breaks down easily when not transferring hosts. If you feel more comfortable leaving items to quarantine for a length of time (I do not do this as the risk is low), most likely a few hours would suffice. I'm glad you got to go out and get some wonderful project things!
@@ensign_poo I'm not crazy... and ur about to see....they may release some real virus in the near future which will actually start killing people..but as of now its practice run...don't trust the government....they are doing population control....Gods judgement is upon us...many ppl will drop dead from heart attacks wen they see what's going to be coming upon satanic planet earth..times running out..ppl are being sealed now.....
"How boring is it to watch five separate skirt making videos?" As many of my fellow commentators said, we would absolutely love to watch it. But if you yourself don't feel like it will be interesting, i have a suggestion: how about an "evolution of skirts"? Or skirts from different countries, which will be not just interesting, but also a learning experience, since everyone had different standards and sewing methods.
I just moved to merry New York for college and the only fabric I have is some of my mom’s old quilting fabric, so I nearly EXPLODED when I saw the notification for this! Don’t mind me while I make a list of all of the shops you’re going to :)
Bernadette Banner thank you!!! For the most part I’m stuck in midtown/the upper east side because I’m scared of going out alone (first week here I got followed going to the post office) but I need to tell my other sewing friends that there are, in fact, other fabric stores open besides mood and that they don’t have to hemorrhage money there! :D
@@lnoths Hi I also live in NYC. UWS! FYI There is a Fabric Store on 3 ave. And about 106-107 St. Called SAV-A-THON! They are a New York version of Jo-Ann fabrics. If you need stuff like thread, needles, nice inexpensive fabric that doesnt break the bank. And it's on the East side. They were open during Lock-down, when I needed elastic for masks... Just an FYI... 😁
Friendly reminder: you are a student, you need money for food, college materials and transportation, no matter how loud your hobbies scream. Sincerely, a bookworm/writer/painter that has, too often, made the choice between decent, balanced meal + bus tickets and pasta with tuna + walking everywhere for the sake of more books and/or supplies, during her college years
A Rose Boregman Hooray! I love that place! Sadly while I have been in East Harlem, I have not visited third avenue in a long time. I was thinking about Save A Thon the other day so I’m very happy to see a shout out here.
Those empty NYC streets are so eerie. Thanks for modeling good responsible mask wearing. 🌺 It's interesting how thrilling it's become to do errands that used to be annoying before.
I’m a lace maker and someone has probably already mentioned the idea, but wasn’t it common practice to sew lace together to get the width you need? I know it’s not the best solution but still period appropriate. Just started watching, love it.
Brisbane went into a three day lockdown because a cleaner caught covid from surfaces in a hotel for returning Australian and it was the new nasty uk strain
So totally agree with this. I was watching a TV show years ago about clothing from about the Victorian times (I think 🤔) anyways, it wasn't that uncommon to actually piece lace together as it was expensive and handmade. If someone only had so much or it wasn't wide enough they would sew it together. I do remember a shift having two thinner laces sewed on to a thicker one to make it wider. There was also another were they ran out of one lace and added another lace to it and left the first lace in. It's period accurate to use what you have or can afford. I am a knitter and crocheter, so I understand how intricate lace is. I am amazed by anyone that makes lace.
A couple months ago my Tia was constantly sanitizing any of the groceries that she could when she came home from the store, she eventually stopped doing that, but you’re not alone Bernadette!
Moscow, Russia - we sanitize all the items from grocery store. As a person, who watches every your video religiously, and then rewatches at least several times, I would absolutely LOVE five videos about skirts! All other options would also be appreciated, but you deserve to know the truth😉
Natalie Aurora S. 🐝We do so in Virginia, too. Every trip to the grocery store requires deciding what is needed now, and what can sit for three days, so they must go into separate bags. As a precaution , many stores don’t allow us bring our own bags, so it is wasteful, time-consuming, and complicated, but until we hear differently, that’s what we’ll do.
@@alhambralions5985 I was just thinking about this whole bag thing the other day. So they're afraid you'll bring germs in with a cloth bag that's probably been tucked away in the closet since the last shopping trip, that you're going to load up with their germy (maybe) groceries and take home, but the clothes you wear INTO the store....? None of this makes any sense.
I was just speaking with my mom about you! Because I was with my friend that works in the Cloth Museum in my city, and the wool our factories produce has been a staple in English clothing Manufacture since the 1800's! And some of it it's still produced the same way as 2 centuries ago!
My great-grandfather was one of the many many many Jewish tailors who worked in the garment district back in the day, and we still go to Ben's every once in a while bc that was his old lunch spot, but I've never actually shopped for fabric there. It was always a "someday, when I'm actually sewing more and in the city for more than a very specific day trip" goal. And I don't think I realized how much I regret not doing it until the pandemic hit and I started watching this channel. So thank you for sharing that experience.
OMG - HAVING A STASH IS CORRECT!!! All this time, all those people telling me I'm an idiot for hanging on to things 'just because'. :p Thank you for validating my life.
Since the beginning of the Great Pause, I've opened moving boxes and found gym equipment, a musical instrument and art supplies. Free hobbies, ftw. (I may get the knitting stuff out. God only knows that there's time enough to learn.) It's very nice knowing that the things you have stashed have a use.
I remember as a kid going with my Mom into fabric stores ('70s) and amazed at the amount of fabric in stock. But nothing compared to the quantity seen in this video, wow!! Rewatched the case of colorful and detailed ribbon behind the glass a half a dozen times, beautiful! Love seeing the joy on your face, the way your eyes lit up like a kid at Christmas over the tweed fabric you purchased. Don't ever change Bernadette!
I am with you, Bernadette. I was like “what’s the point in having a huge stash when I can just pop into a store on my way home from work.” And then lockdown loomed and then eBay became my friend and I built one heck of an admittedly small stash. I don’t sew nearly as much as you professionals but still I hadn’t enough notions because of my aforementioned attitude. Build yourself a stash is now my mantra.
It was nice to see you out and about. You were smiling and giggling like a little sneaky girl hunting for treasure in her mother's closet and vanity. Just giggling with so many plans for your dollies. So happy. Glad you are doing well love.
Your productions are so well presented, musical segues and an intimate delivery that conveys your enthusiasm and genius for your craft. I feel a bit privileged that you are sharing your passion with us. Humble gratitudes.
The pure joy on your face when you saw the tweeds just lifted my heart.! Thank you! I honestly can't remember the last time I saw someone this happy. I remember when it was easy to find joy in people and myself. Time to do that again. You and your videos are always such a breath of life.
Please do the skirt marathon idea! Now that stores are opening up I’ve gone and found a bunch of fabric from thrift shops/discount stores and my goal is to make a bunch of skirts for fall/winter, and honestly I’m not sure where to start 😂 but that tweed is absolutely stunning 😍💛
My dear when you said to behold and weep.....I wept. More than once in the time span of 9.18 minutes I supposed because I too have not left my house a single time unless it was for food or exercise, I wept because I felt as though I had accompanied you on that adventure.
I share Bernadette's love and excitement for tweed, and OH MY those walls filled with beautiful vintage ribbons had me shook. I wish I had a store near me with that much variety of fabrics and trimmings ❤️
In germany we also don't do this really on purpose, but to be honest I just buy food. I do wash my hands as soon I come into my appartement and change into other clothe than outside.
bnanabelle Her in Denmark we don’t quarantine anything either. Just washing hands when we get home. I’m jealous of the textile shops you have, they are few and far between here.
Here in Tucson Arizona (less than 100 miles from the USA- Mexico border we leave non-temperature sensitive items on the porch for half an hour because it’s hot enough to kill the virus in that time
It‘s just highly unlikely to catch the Virus this way. Smear infenction makes just around 20% of all infections. To get it from a parcel or something similiar, an infected Person would have to touch it right after snezzing directly into his hands and you would have to touch this particulary area of the surface he touched and then directly stick your fingers in your throat......this basically never happens with people constantly washing their hands and wearing masks. Even if this would be the case, it isn‘t even sure that you catch enough of the virus on your hands and get it into your throat.....
Oh my goodness you're face after impulse buying that tweed is the exact expression I had on mine when I came home from the fabric shop the other day with several meters of the most gorgeously soft black/blue plaid patterned cotton that I've not made anything with yet but I'm already hoping remains there long enough to go on sale so I can buy more! hehe
You asked if everyone, everywhere is sanitizing individual items, the answer for where I live is no. People are super calm and in most cases don't require masks. Which I'm incredibly grateful for. I love your channel! God bless!
Yes! When the schools closed in March I have 4 kids at home, littles to teen. We have put a dent in my craft hoard, and had fun trying anything they could imagine.
The adventures into the garment district are so euphoric. When she trills with delight over the tweed section I became so giddy I nearly exploded. A sheer delight you are sweet lady!
The latest evidence all seems to suggest that the risk from surface transmission is basically negligible and that quarantining objects is probably not necessary unless they've been somewhere with particularly high viral load (like a COVID ward, for instance). So you probably could stop now. But given the state of ~gestures at everything~, there's also something crucial to be said for having a sense of control over your risks. I'd expect New Yorkers are particularly feeling that very real need, given the trauma you all have been through. If it makes you feel better to keep doing it, there's no harm in it.
The _sound_ I made when you showed the interiors of those stores! You've solidified my desire to, sometime in the nebulous, non-plague-ridden future, visit a proper Garment District, either in NYC or closer to home in LA.
Three things is quick secession. (1) As someone who has watched your silk petticoat video at least 6 times, I could totally watch several videos of you making different skirts. (2) I hope you enjoy making the tweed skirt. Making things that make us happy is why crafting exists. (3) I live in the Netherlands, and even though it is getting better, I still quarantine my yarns and things for at least a day. All the Best!
whenever I see tweed I love but cant afford I buy just enough to make a nice beret. I have lots of berets. Totally justified to splurge on it! It's beautiful and you will wear it forever!
So I was thinking about your videos, and how you've inspired me to teach myself how to create my own clothes, when I received my Sephora package... and I realized that all of the packing paper would be magnificent for drafting... I'm stoked to begin my own journey. Thank you, so much!
She did the same for me. I started my 1st _ever_ project last night-jammy bottoms out of flannel! (Getting into the 40s-and 50s at night in New England.) 😁🙂🤨😖😩 Quickly realizing I don’t know what I’m doing-but heck if I’m not enjoying it!!! So from one newb to another, keep going, don’t be afraid to ask for help, don’t quit ‘cuz you burned yourself on the iron in the first 20 minutes of your first project, lol, and enjoy the journey! ❤️
I really NEED five separate vids of all the skirts please and thank you for very much 😘 heartbreaking to see a more sedate vibe throughout the garment district but so wonderful to be able to visit! I don't know all that much about sewing (I've ben inspired to try to get into it properly thanks to your videos) but your pure enthusiasm and constant gushing over this artform has kept me watching every video. You being yourself and enjoying your passion is all I need!
I promise I would not be bored watching any of your videos. As someone who wants to make their own skirts, please go ahead and make as many as you will!
I live in Brooklyn, and I’m so tired of sanitizing and washing everything. But, my mother is high risk and I’m a teen so I don’t have a house (though I wouldn’t have left her even if I did have one) and so, we clean.

What a weird, wet, weeping mess of a pair of aging, skinny GenX history hipsters...
No, seriously... Know anyone like that? Must be willing to move to Toronto, Canada.

Bernadette: "How boring would five videos of me sewing skirts be?"
Me, having watched preeeeeeeetty much every video about 20 times, including starting a pirate shirt himself....: "Uhhhhh... MAKE ALL THE THINGS!" :D
I don't know how often I've seen some of her videos (some more some less) but apart from that I'm literally the same and was just about to write that myself :D
So cool. Do you cosplay, reenact, or just really love the shirt?
“How boring is it to watch five separate skirt making videos?”
Me, who has probably rewatched some of her videos more than five times: 🧍♀️um
Agreed.
It is this much boring: zero.
You are not alone on this! I'm thinking it might be boring to edit five separate skirt videos in a row but watching? Nope!
Oh, I would EASILY watch that and not be bored!
Yas, I usually re watch har videos and have the in the background while I'm painting or doing whatever, I love her voice so much I don't think I would ever be bored with this amazing human.
Guilty. I admit to doing the same thing.
Bernadette: "How boring is it to watch five separate videos on making a skirt?"
Me: "Not at all boring?"
Nope, go ahead. Make a million skirt videos. I'll watch you hand sew random bits of fabric into tag blankets or hand fell random seams. Go off. Film it all. Or make one video with three skirts. Whatever you want to do, go for it.
I second that. I love watching sewing videos.
I would have to say I _could_ get bored by that . . . With anybody other than Bernadette.
I find myself riveted to the screen no matter what she’s doing.
...still waiting for a marathon skirt making video(s)... love your videos!
"Who would want to watch 5 individual skirt videos."
Me. Me would watch 5 individual skirt videos. When I'm anxious at night I watch your walking skirt videos and have probably watched both the modern Edwardian skirt and the Victorian walking skirt over 10 times each.
oh my god same
I literally do the same thing! Bernadette’s videos are my go-to calming happy place!
Absolutely the same 😅
Tamara Brunner me 4! Please make individual videos Bernadette! I look forward to each and every time you see. I especially like these shopping trips! Gives me a destination to go to after the pandemic
Yes, sign me up for 5 skirt videos!
"How boring is it to watch five separate skirt making videos?" Not even the slightest bit actually! We're all still stuck in quarantine and need something to binge besides Downton Abbey for the fiftieth time!
Agreed! I will watch ALL the skirt-making videos!
I actually just took a break from my 10th rewatch of Downton to watch this video!
I know. Please give us all the videos Bernadette, they're not boring at all. Rather interesting and calming
"Everyone who impulse buys just to hold in stash are actually correct"......I feel seen :)
Totally vindicated!
I don't feel judged anymore
My daughter has started an online business. My fabric stash is only down one large Rubbermaid tote and barely 10 spools of thread. Lol Take care and be safe 😷

“I just did a very wicked thing.” Honestly the most quotable sentence ever. I’m gonna use it.
I was giving her (yes, my monitor) a side eye and out loud said: "You bought tweed, didn't you, you naughty you?" And I was SURE it was the shiny houndstooth one.
She forgot to mention how much her wickedness cost 🙁

Yes, there's a global pandemic that's virtually turned sections of the largest human cities on the planet into ghost towns, but people are still kind and there's still beauty and goodness in the world and people are doing more than just merely surviving.
idk this video just gave me that weird sort of Ghibli-esque feeling that makes me both sad and warm at the same time
Love this
Wow 🤩 that’s deep (I was like “oooh, pretties... and shinies”) thank you 🙏🏽
Edit if I sound sarcastic I’m sorry, I’m not. Truly intrigued and grateful 😊
Ghibli making one sad and warm at the same time is so accurate oh wow
If I was ever to make it to the garment district I would need a ridiculous amount of $$. It would be a necessity to buy years worth of fabric since there is no true fabric shop even remotely close to me. (Sigh) and of course this pesky pandemic
"soft apocalypse aesthetic" omg but yes i get it. It's the yellowish tinge of the video for me
My goal in life is to find someone who looks at me the way Bernadette looks at wool tweed.
Right? and the way she got all shy and delighted when she was talking about it!
Can there be a dating site specifically for this?
I want to sit at her feet as she rocks in a rocking chair and tells me all about historical fashions and the projects she has made, she is internally a grandma and it's precious
"How boring is it to watch 5 separate videos on making skirts-" m'lady that is a challenge accepted.
Bernadette hopping through the garment district, touching ALL the tweed is the most wholesome thing I have seen today and it makes my little heart smile. ❤
Come on, we'd watch 5 HUNDRED skirt videos lol 😂
I definitely want a bunch of skirt videos! I’m planning on making a bunch of skirts myself, so that would be both entertaining and useful. So here’s another vote for heaps of skirt videos!
That's true. Fell, Bernadette, fell!
It's true.

I will. I have two rolls of clack silk satin from China. Time to sew.
I don’t think that any of us would ever complain about you making “too many” videos of you making skirts! 😂 is there such a thing!
It’s kind of adorable to watch non hoarders talk about buying “a lot” of stuff.
I'm glad I'm not the only one to think that.
Yup... *looks sideways at room full of table top plastic, resin and white metal Games Workshop miniatures*
I know, right?! That was literally four items...? So cool to know that it’s possible to be like this. I strive for this as the stars to shoot for, and have slowly learned to land somewhere in between hoarder and minimalist as my moon.
Yeah. I'm like... if you still have usable horizontal space in your apartment, you probably don't have enough stuff.
I can relate to this comment... 😄
That kind of purchasing is actually promoted as "prepping," in some quarters. ;-)

ok as someone who is only leaving the house to go to work, i needed some wholesome shopping vlog content thank u bernadette
As soon as you zoomed in on the hounds tooth tweed I was like “she went home
with that” 😂
The pure joy of Bernadette discovering, and then buying that tweed, was the wholesome content we all needed, this week. ❤
Bernadette swooning over tweed is a whole mood and I’m living for it
"How boring is it to watch five separate skirt making videos?"
is now the right time to admit that during these last few months i've watched all the contents of this channel a minimum of 5x over? no? I'm not a creep, I promise. Just in love with your editing.
Okay but like same????
Same! It's the perfect "I need something creative but also completely calming" channel.
I have never been so charmed by someone else's joy as I was by Bernadette's reaction to buying the gorgeous tweed.
"All the people that impulse buy just to have it in their stash are actually correct!" finally I can defend my purchases of art and craft supplies, as we were sewing hundreds of masks out from 20 years old fabrics :D Can't wait to see what work of art you're going to made with this lovely tweed :3
I never actually quarantined things i bought neither know a person who does it :D is it normal in USA?
I got declared "essential" and was denied all that free time to dig through and use my stash - I was padding it for the end of the world, too!
East Coast trimming: oh my god it's the flower woman again
More like "Thank God, it's the flower woman again!" Bernadette is 100% the reason I always go to the Garment District when I go to NYC. If we ever get to go to NYC!

As this video was playing, I said to myself, “I need to go to the garment district if I ever go to NYC.” And I’m not even much of a sewer!
Bernadette: "It's lovely and I have no idea what to do with it"
Me: nods head, "yes yes all the time."

They were open during Lock-down, when I needed elastic for masks...

Your partner is correct! That is exactly the word for it.
I knew it! I was watching this and thinking “this might be fabric porn?” Makes me wanna have an attack of “SEW ALL THE THINGS”
"Fabric porn" is the best description for this video! :)
It’s so calming to listen to Bernadette raving about her new fabrics.
Also I would love to see a skirt video. All my love from Germany and stay safe!

Yeah: for one thing, by the 5th skirt BB will have learned some nifty tricks.
Brazil - I also have been sanitizing everything we buy.
@@alhambralions5985 wow, that's a lot of effort. Are you immunocompromised?
Thank you for validating my life.

When you ran your hand across the tweed i could FEEL the quality through the screen. My envy went through the roof.
I was wondering how the garment district was fairing during this, Also the cinematography at 2:06 was amazing!

We don't quarantine anything we buy over here in Scandinavia - never heard about it either . :-O beautiful tweet you bought. :)
Here in Tucson Arizona (less than 100 miles from the USA- Mexico border we leave non-temperature sensitive items on the porch for half an hour because it’s hot enough to kill the virus in that time
In Switzerland we don‘t either.
God bless!
I didn't come here to have my fabric hoarding vindicated BUT I'M OKAY WITH IT 😁
Yes! When the schools closed in March I have 4 kids at home, littles to teen. We have put a dent in my craft hoard, and had fun trying anything they could imagine.
I love how you were blushing over buying the expensive tweed 😍 relatable
Lol I love Bernadette s whispered delight in the tweed shop 😂❤⚘
Ik could watch you sew a skirt for hours every day, never getting boring
A "three simple skirt ideas to make yourself" video would be *very* much appreciated :,)))
YES!
I'm an historical novelist, and your videos about the medieval gown and hose really helped me. Thank you 😊
Leslie Moise I’ve looked at some of her sketches and imagined the lives of those people.
@@davidblum7125 Absolutely ☺️
whenever I see tweed I love but cant afford I buy just enough to make a nice beret.
I have lots of berets.
Totally justified to splurge on it! It's beautiful and you will wear it forever!
Your sheer excitement looking at Beautiful Things makes me so happy.
So I was thinking about your videos, and how you've inspired me to teach myself how to create my own clothes, when I received my Sephora package... and I realized that all of the packing paper would be magnificent for drafting...
I'm stoked to begin my own journey. Thank you, so much!
BOI George never thought of using paper like that for drafting! Thanks for the idea! I just kept it around in case I needed to wrap presents lol
I, for one, would watch five separate Bernadette Makes a Skirt videos...in a row... probably while eating 😂
I really NEED five separate vids of all the skirts please and thank you for very much 😘 heartbreaking to see a more sedate vibe throughout the garment district but so wonderful to be able to visit! I’ve had to pause, at the 6yds of deliciousness, to say how incredibly moved I am by watching this. I adore your content, and truly appreciate your love for the craft that I myself have practiced for more decades than I care to admit (old 😂). Thank you for being brilliant. Always be loved 💖
Hey bernerdette I just wanna say that I love you so much and your videos have been of the upmost comfort during lock down and you have really inspired me ☺️
"I just did a wicked thing" Big huge grin. Love it
Treat yourself! Honestly with the year we’re having, I think any purchase that brings joy (that you are able to splurge/afford) is totally worth it! The tweed is lovely
bernadette vids are like a drug
I wholeheartedly agree!

There’s worse things to be addicted to!

Likewise, friends.
I don't know all that much about sewing (I've ben inspired to try to get into it properly thanks to your videos) but your pure enthusiasm and constant gushing over this artform has kept me watching every video. You being yourself and enjoying your passion is all I need!
Swatches are the gateway drug to a full blown tweed addiction
Her royal majesty is back
I promise I would not be bored watching any of your videos.
