Arris being a salty comic fan is something i didnt know i needed. Polite, honest, and not fanboy-eee. I dig it hahaha
I think that's the most important point, if you just give them the title as the best of whatever without earning it, people will reject it. I sure have.
I thought this was the future though, aren't all those people he mentioned dead or at least not active? I would get it if we were 50 issues in and we saw a mediocre backstory but if that's not been revealed they can say what they want, they just have to fufill it with superb storytelling.
@@kaydee1485 This is supposed to introduce these characters to us. If this was an original universe with original IPs, it would have merely been mediocre, but when trying to cash in on previously established characters, you should try to show respect to those characters, otherwise you'll alienate your target audience and ruin the entire reason you used those IPs in the first place.
@@kaydee1485 it was super extra the "greatest detective in the Multiverse" it's clear what the intent was.
Quiet, nerd.
"She's the best detective in the multiver-" gets random ad. Even youtube disagreed.

Why are you guys fan boying over the old characters?
They are coming back, relax. Why not just enjoy the new characters and actually give them a chance? Instead of being so dull that you can't even manage to stop comparing the two as if they both can't exist.

I mean she has a ring that allows her to create anything she can imagine and has formal education in detective work so she is more equipped than Batman.
@@kappadarwin9476 but equipment doesn't even come close to smarts, training, and wit
@@redassassinyt4908 Batman is a detective in name only. He has the title more as a honorific than an actual certification.
The New Green Lantern being a former cop has more familiarity with actual detective work and procedure.
@@redassassinyt4908 Agreed.
Sure she has a Green Lantern Ring. So it does prove she has the will power. Along with the formal detective work. But comparing her and Bruce? Naw. The real difference between the two is experience. Jo did go through the formal training. But I doubt she had the amount of training Bruce had. Bats gained a majority of his experience through training around the world and on-field experience. Now I may be biased here since I just learned about Jo. But claiming that she is the best detective in the DC Multiverse? Impossible. We the readers haven't grown that deep of a connection to Jo that we feel like she even earns the title in the first place. Like Arris said. We need more information on why she earns the title in the first place.
@@kappadarwin9476 but in order to be a good Detective you need training right? You can't have something like a phone and people will call you smart, no you need to go to school, just like that, this new Green Lantern can't be the greatest detective in the multiverse by just having a ring
This rant is so correct. They messed up a lot of things with this comic. Absolutely forgetting the original and best heroes accomplishments in the DC universe is something fans just don’t agree with.

The fact that you’re salty is completely understandable. I feel like the intention of presenting these characters as better than their predecessors is a poor attempt at making them interesting or forcing them onto a pedestal for which they haven’t earned. Similar to a Mary Sue.

Ikr? XD
She is the best in the MULTIVERSE. You truly need to think about that one and it is then when you will see how wrong he is! There truly is a first for everything, isn't there! Let me give you all a hint. Stephen Strange was the best Sorcerer before he was even a Sorcerer. He also gained most of his experience in battle in a "single time frame" (which means that 1 day for Wong was actually the equivalent to years for Strange) against Dormammu.
@@ShowheenGuy so??? what are you saying??? Dr. Strange was not introduced as the best sorcerer, he was introduced as master of black magic and later only got his origin story, still he wasn't called the best but ancient one was still alive. Latdr only as time passed he became sorcerer supreme after learning from the ancient one and taking his title sorcerer supreme. Also looks like the one you said was the MCU's storyline but still there are minor differences like strange wasn't a prodigy, he didn't even know the ancient one was magical until one after some time seeing him driving away a spirit, the battle with Dormamu came much much later in his career.
@@ShowheenGuy it's like you ignored his whole argument. But even taking your example, sorcerers are a secret society on Earth. No other planets. And only few people are sorcerers. So it's really not a stretch that an atheist and unorthodox neurosurgeon that learned magic and shifted his full dedication from medicine to magic would then come to be sorcerer supreme.
.
Really not the same as some human teenage girl we just met just happens to be the greatest detective in the multiverse. Of all the many detectives on each of the planets, many with years of dedication and experience. And she's the best detective just because she is. And especially because we already have other characters that are very outstanding detectives. Really not the same.
He is arguing that experience outweighs talent and skill. I understand that achievements may entitle somebody as "great, greater, or greatest," but again, you're all missing and ignoring my rebuttal, which is that quality > quantity. You are all thinking and working backwards, beginning from 'in the moment' to the past. But what about the future!?
I would prefer if Damian or dick was the new Batman and at this point of time shouldn’t Tim drake been know as the best detective and it feels weird to jump straight into this without getting to read how they save the world and join together. It writing terms show don’t tell

You can't just create a new character and declare it to be the best at something just after a story when so much established history already exists, especially if that very history disproves the point. Show don't tell, than you earn the title!
Not to mention that kinda implies that Bats 2.0 ain't as good in the detective role. If that's the case though, how the hell did he save Gotham exactly? And how does Batman Beyond fit in all of this?

Hey bruce is the best detective in the omniverse not the universe also let's not forget that mr terrific and with some of the other big guns now operate multiversal now apparently
This comic in a nutshell,
Making Bruce Wayne batman look bad
And we all know what's the real goal there...
Man we love your rants and your personal thoughts keep doing that 🙏🏼 and too many new characters can't relate that much in time where people attention span is similar to of a goldfish so it worked in the past for flash and green lantern but I skeptical for them should have gone with least similar characters or should have surrounded with them.
Thank you Arris!!! I was literally thinking exactly about your rant! Truly justified!!!
Thumbs up for the rant, valid points
Also 10:20, hilarious
Second person, Variant nation, where the likes at, this future justice league is a trip.
Perfectly said in your rant
Mr. Quinones of Variant Comics, even though I'm a mix of various nationality including a couple of minorities, it doesn't take away my appreciation for the source material of various comics both DC and Marvel that began with (let's be honest) strictly white superheroes! Sure, later on they introduced some token minority characters almost as an afterthought, but it was never their intention to highlight anyone who wasn't their own skin color or gender, even Mr. Disney turned away women from trying to work with him, it was a crazy time. But now it's like the pendulum is swinging the other way, and they're all bending over backwards to out do each other, and prove that they're more tolerant than anyone else. Is it surprising that a black female Green Lantern is the best detective in the multiverse, or that a black Batman is the first Batman to truly save Gotham? No, not when all that matters is showing that they're more woke than anyone else! Frankly, I find this whole matter disgusting! First we didn't even exist, we were completely invisible, and now we're the best and the greatest, go figure. It's insane! By making these characters so, "Mary Sue" it's almost as if the comic book companies themselves were doing everything they could to purposely make us, the general public, hate these new minority characters, like they wanted these characters to fail on purpose? Is that why they write them as upstarts supplanting our already favorite characters? Makes you wonder huh?
I think that future state is a great opportunity to try out diverse new characters. We know that this is likely a non-canon future. It's certainty is around the same as that Terry Batman's canon. Totally cool with me. Flash and GL in this canon is cool in my opinion. But Black Batman and Brazilian Yara felt painfully artificial to me since we already have legacy characters who can fit like Tim, Damien, and Cassie. The potential for a Jon-Damien dynamic is painfully sacrificed just so that we can have Tim Fox.
@@yiklongtay6029 DC will introduce characters of color as a diversity ploy but never fully develop them. wish they chose damien for batman, he woulda still been a diverse choice as he is half arab but writers always whitewash him and talia
Love this channel definitely my top 3
Can you do a video on the elongated man?
100% with your thoughts Arris🙏
Arris, thanks for pointing this out. The subject of your critique is justified. In fact, this would be a sore spot for any professional fiction writer or novelist, because it breaks the #1 universal rule of all good fiction writing: don't say it, show it! The fact that you mention it shows that somewhere in the back of your head, you have acquired an understanding some of the basic for what makes quality literature. Bravo!
