Sultan Murad (Metin Akdülger) learns that Kösem Sultan wanted to kill him. Sultan Murad learns that his governor has agreed with the physician and sends Emir Çelebi's head to Kösem Sultan (Nurgül Yeşilçay). Valide Kösem Sultan, who learned that Sinan Pasha was a traitor, realizes that he has been exposed. Helpless corners. Knowing that Sultan Murad will not stop anymore, Kösem Sultan takes measures to protect Şehzade İbrahim.
Sultan Murad IV conquers Baghdad, despite all the measures of the novices. Kemankeş appointed Mustafa Pasha as the Grand Vizier and sent him to Shah Safi.

Such a sad, depressing, dark but also beautiful scene. What a perfect music. What a perfect acting. What a perfect scene. One of the best scenes of 2. season. Ibrahim is turning into Mad Ibrahim. Poor Kösem. She loved Bayezid, she protected him but his mother destroys his life. Kösem warned Gulbahar that she will end up just like Halime. What she said it happend. Kösem lost another, who she loved.
The only things she love is a power))) It's even funny how they tried to make Kesem looks more innocent in this show by blaming Culbahhar)))) But in the end then and now we all just try to survive)))

Killing with silk cord was a respected execution. This came from nomadic times(like mongols who rolled in a carpet the important persons bcs not allowed their blood to wate to the soil) but they used arrow string.
I think Selim is not fully investigated, there are no many convincing proofs of his life, of course, he existed, but probably he died when he was a child, the information i have read explains that the sehzades that survived until the reign of Murad IV were Bayezid, Süleyman, Kasim and Ibrahim, of course there were others, like Selim as you said, but he probably died at young age, also there is another with the name of Hüseyin and Hasan, but they both died at young age

1. Bayezid I Yildrim got imprisoned by Timur and died in captivity.
2. Bayezid II got deposed by his own son Selim I and according to some sources Selim even killed Bayezid.
3. Sehzade Bayezid declared a rebel and killed by his own father Sultan Suleiman The Magnificent.
4. Sehzade Bayezid was exploited by Kösem (in real life) and was killed even Sehzade Suleiman and Sehzade Selim were exploited by Kösem Sultan who were killed the same day (27 July) all three of them were killed during Revan Campaign (1635).

Finally, someone who sees these wretched and major sinner Sultans for what they actually are and not their pomp and how mightily and sel-proclaimed rightful they are portrayed here. All these Sultans after the few earlier ones were Zalims, Fasiqs, Qatil and Jahanami.

yes, when i got to know about the Ottoman Empire, i was happy to know that muslims had an empire which ruled over three continents. but then i read more about the empire and like, i’m glad that this empire fell because when the empire was strong, within the first ten rulers, there were fratricides occurring but then the empire declined because there weren’t more conquerors and then ottomans just didn’t have any glory until sultan abdulhamid ii and then it just completely fell. so i’m not exactly sad about the downfall of throne which is filled with the blood of so many young and innocent princes.

It's a battle between her and gulbahar. She knew Osman killed Mehmet on his own judgement and he regretted it. As long as gulbahar is alive, she would manipulate Bayazeid to kill all his brothers.
well for Osman, Kosem considered him as her child, and she had all those mother's feelings for him, she couldn't have killed him even if she wanted to (at that time)..and as for Bayezid, she only felt bad b'cause he had to die this way, that's it, no mother's feelings, nothing. Kosem gives Osman her own milk while Osman still a baby because Osman Mother, Mahfiruze Sultan died when a Safiye Sultan started a rebellion in the palace. so thats why, Kosem Sultan, love so much Osman like her own son. She couldve easily allowed them to dethrone ibrahim without killing them but no she was exiled with no power and she still defended her son’s throne, she also stopped the statesmen from wanting him gone in 1645 while the empire was collapsing because of him, she defended her son over the empire. And in 1648 the entire empire gathered to take him down without Kösem’s consent go read the book of Ozlem Komrular about Kösem sultan and Necdat Sakaoğlu about kadin sultanlari, after she was forced to dethrone her son Ibrahim she asked for permission to retire from politics and reside in the old palace, then the statesmen and religious men forced her into reconsidering her decision since the empire was collapsing and her guidance was needed (according to Leslie Peirce, The Imperial Harem) but she refused saying « i don’t have energy anymore (for taking care of state matters) » but the Sheikh Al Islam said in his book that it was not allowed for Kösem to retire and leave the palace since turhan was seen as young and inexperienced. As soon as turhan heard this, she was furious because she wanted the regency for her own and started scheming against Kösem and spred many lies about her that she tried replacing her son when this isn’t true and she offered gold to Kösem’s most loyal servant and betrayed her. Turhan also killed ibrahim in real life without the knowledge of Kösem go read books instead of wikipedia who can be modified by everyone and you’ll find out. Turhan betrayed Kösem and went and killed ibrahim to destroy Kösem’s mental state.
In later times Ottomans would be humane and exile their princes. I think there was a famous prince who traveled all over Europe and another one who went to China as a diplomat. Maybe that is the wrong word but they basically lived playboy lifestyles and had no obligations. They wrote poetry, seduced women, went to great parties, and did not have to worry about money (b/c they got a government allowance).

Was strangling a "lesser painful" way to die? That's what I've been thinking watching this show. And yes, I'd have preferred being strangled to death rather than face the executioner's axe/sword. It's frightening to imagine yourself being chopped off like a chicken.
Sultans used to strangle while practicing fratricide so that the royal blood of the shehezades is not spilled.
It's the other way around... Maybe beheading looks scary and graphic but it's way less painful than strangled... It literally takes not even a second and you're already non conscience, while strangling could take to 5 min of pain until your brain lost all oxygen... Strangling is way too scary and painful bro

And Murad I the third Ottoman ruler killed his brother Ibrahim Bey when he became the Sultan . Bayazid I the fourth Ottoman ruler killed his brother Yakub Bey in his tent on the field of Kosovo. Mehmet I became Sultan after murdering his three elder brothers . Only Sultan who didn't killed his siblings was Orhan and he also shares his power with his brother by appointing him Grand Vezier because his brother Alaudin Bey was good administrator and he laid the foundation of Ottoman administration.

So, he was the full brother of Sultan Osman II . Secondly, he was a popular Sehzade among the Janniseries and Murad IV was afraid to leave Istanbul when his popular adult brothers were in the capital. Thirdly, he was not the only Sehzade to be killed on that night but two of his other brothers Sehzade Suleiman and Sehzade Selim who were the sons of Kosem Sultan were also killed on the night of 27 July 1635 .
