Happy birthday to a great guy! Cake looks good! That’s awesome that your wife baked it for you! Thank you for the Father’s Day greeting. Very cool gifts!!
Happy Birthday Steverino! Hope you had a wonderful day my friend! VERY cool DC poster! Never knew about the Smilin' Jack serials! Fascinating reading material as well. Looks like a winner of a birthday, Steve, again thanks so much for sharing your birthday bash with us!
Blues? Man...where did she find that?! great Blues music by the early masters. Thats great! Good poster. Happy Birthday retroactively. Great comics and hopefully, good coffee.
Happy Birthday, sir. Nice gifts. Yes, I too enjoyed The Whole Wide World film. Howard's westerns are particularly good, as you know. Glengarry Glenn Ross, now there is a film I have heard mentioned in a long time. Enjoy your day.
🤓🎉 HAULpy Birthday Steve! Yes , indeed The Whole Wide World is a blueprint on how to present a pulp author on screen. Smilin' Jack grew a mustache when he got imprisoned on Devil's Island and when Downwind Jackson rescued him he decided to keep the mustache which gave him an Errol Flynn appeal. The great thing about digital websites like Comic Book Plus is that one discovers impressionable talents such as Lou Cameron and their work in assorted genres. 😋CAKE complain about things today! 😎I know from personal experience what it felt like being an "outsider" in my early days of comic conventions and how cultural depictions in the comics soured some "just getting good until that moment!" enjoyable stories but that was "Sleeping Culture " interludes in otherwise enthralling entertainment! 👍Love that HECKuva cup!
Happy birthday Steve! You sir, not only have great tastes in comics, but also in books, music, and movies! Not that it was surprising to me! I had never heard anybody talk about The Whole Wide World movie (love it as well of course!) ever since I first watched it when it came out in the late 90's. Now, in the last two weeks or so, two of my favorite youtubers have praised it in a video (the other is Robert Harrison 2.0, a fellow Canadian). Ever since I saw it, I've been meaning to read Novalyne Price's One Who Walked Alone (the book has a better title than the movie's in my humble opinion), but, to my regret, never got around it. I didn't know that there was a movie serial of Smilin' Jack! Comic strips and comic books sure were a major source of inspiration for those serials back in the days!
Happy Birthday Steve! Wonderful set of gifts from your bride!
Happy Birthday and greetings! Those are some sweet gifts and I love your setup.~Eric
