- Mai brought her XS650 into the Shed last week. The bike was designed by Mai, and built with help from Skate Interiors. The finishing touch - a scorpion sealed onto the tank.
Mai is one of the three founders of VC London, a women's riding collective. VC London ladies nights are held here every first Wednesday of the month at The Bike Shed, 384 Old Street, London, EC1V 9LT

This is a beautifully made chopper. So many good decisions on the build. Love rear end with full length sissy bar and the way the exhaust pipes rise up at the same angle. Superb.
thats just what i wa going to say till i saw yours yea killer
I just can't get over that pipes. It's so clean and blends in with whole Design.
XS650 engine shape is exceptional..
Very beautiful and simple
It is a much more reliable copy of the Triumph parallel twin. They have a roller bearing crankshaft to go with their lack of a rev limiter and course mesh screen as an oil filter. Some can not live with the engine vibration, and others get used to it. I was fine with it at 60 mph, not so happy at 105 mph. Also the heat coming up from the air cooled engine roasts you at stoplights in the summer. I now have 2 liquid cooled engines, a 600cc Honda V-twin with about 30 horsepower, and a 600cc Kawasaki inline-4 with about 90 horsepower. I enjoy one on most Saturdays and the other on Sundays.
Probably the best 650 Yam chopper I've ever seen, love it!
This has to be one of the best bikes I've seen on this channel. An absolute beauty 👍
Hats off my lady. We need more girls like you
calm down thirsty pajeet
@@ragimundvonwallat8961 you. I like you
fucking simp
Come and work in a uk blue collar job you'll meet plenty
m'lady.
First street bike I ever rode was my Dad's 1981 XS650. When I was even younger my dad and I would get on it and go on weekend trips which were some of my best childhood memories. This is what started it all for me and now I've got my own Yamaha's an FZ6 and an MT-09 (not as classic but a total beast of a bike). Yamaha's rule!!!
One of the nicer bikes I've seen on this channel!
Agreed
Super nice chop.
So many small details bring together a coherent bike, Mai. My favourites from yours are (in order) 1. frame / tank / mudguard / battery box being the same light colour. 2. The pipes kicking up at the same angle as the chainstays. Would love to do an xs650 or 750 next (albeit each lending themselves to very different outcomes in my head). Great result, you must be the envy of your mates!
Super cool bike and owner!
These bikes are so damn fun to build, I have a 79 xs . Full ground up build. Springer front end and custom hardtail.. almost finished with the build. Going big bore on it. Bad ass, her chop looks great, period correct, fresh out of the 70’s chopper
The sound is irresistable
Amazing Bike, I have a goal of having a Chopper and a cafe racer one day, Cafe Racer is what brought me to this channel but Bikes like these are finding there way in the garage of my soul.
i am mai and this is mai bike. nice bike tho i dont like those type of old bikes (choppers, bobbers, i dont know what to call them) one bit but this one is aesthetically very well done. i really love everything how its so simple and not all chromed and super corny.
The exhaust sound is amazing.
I like Mia,as well. Cute, and humble. A nice way to present the build.
Nicely thought out and well built bike, Mai seems to enjoy it and rides it like it’s meant to be , well cool
I am not a chopper fan...at all...but this built...WoW...you nailed it lady !!!
This date and time so refreshing to see something old school ish also love Kickstarter
Blown-away by these videos.
Nice, nice ,nice. Very lean and simple. The bike matches the scorpion perfectly. Great job all around.
Her bike is gorgeous
Sweet bike!
Nicely done. It doesn’t matter what a bike looks like or how it’s equipped, as long as it’s ridden and loved.
Always wanted a cruiser but never wanted a Harley.
But THIS! Looks sickkkk!
Gorgeous the both!!!!! 😉🤘
That bike is on point 100%
wow really cool to see these women getting into custom bikes, respect xxx
I fell in love with the XS650 back when AWOL magazine was giving a red chopped one away back in the early 90s. You get the basic air cooled, unit construction, vertical twin like a classic Brit bike, but with Japanese price amd reliability. I'd love one with lowered rear shocks, solo seat, forward controls, updated carbs/exhaust/cam/ignition, some mild head work, and a big bore 750 kit. (I'm a big boy, at over 300lbs, so it's not just for insane speed!)
What an amazing person. I was just thinking about a resin cast back hump on cafe racer build. Now I know how I'm going to fill out a small dent in the tank. You rock
YOU GO GIRL!! Mine is an '82 Bobber with solo seat and Wide Glide rear fender, gloss black with metallic royal blue wings on the tank. "Little Wing"
jesus what a beauty
Nice bike!! Running a classic tire setup makes the bike really. Very clean indeed!
What a nice bike!
The white color gives it a very unique style.
One of the sweetest XS650's I've ever seen.
I love white motorcycles.
😎
Looks pretty nice and the white painting fits perfect to the drivers hair 😁👌
Yes live your dream enjoy your motorcycle whatever you want it's yours and built to your style no one else's great stuff
looks great
That's a beautifully made chopper, greetings from the Netherlands
Beautiful motorcycle art. Couldn't imagine how my back and kidneys would be after riding that bike more than 10 miles at a time.
Beautiful lines on that bike, looks badass
Love the Scorpion nice touch 👍
Hace muchos años soné que me prestabas esa moto aún sin conocerte, debe ser un déjà vu porque apenas la vi la reconocí y había quedado muy agradecido contigo
That's a nice bike, not over the top yet different 👍👍🏁🏁🏁
I had a 1981 xs 650 soecial, loved the power of the mimicked 650 parallel twin engine, great reliability as well.
mimicked to the british parallel twin.
Sweet, really like those upswept pipes. Sounds good too.
Absolutely gorgeous...
Very beautiful chopper
Very cool bike!
I LOVE your bike! The fact that you helped with the design and build is really impressive. I'm not say this because you are a lady, girls can build choppers as well as any man. However, you are one of the few that does build. I wish you much success and ride free! :)
Turned out really nice. I agree about how nice your bike was stock but hey it's your machine. There's a bunch of those bikes around so you did good. Your old parts can go toward keeping an old stock bike going.
Very nice bike!
I love the 'Old Skool' look Choppers and Bobbers
That exhaust pipe is absolutely perfect!!!!
Yes oh yes
This bike is sick!!
absolutely perfect XS. love it
Beautiful and uncluttered as it should
*Scorpion in tank. Best bike in the Shed.*
Beautiful
I can tell she is a very creative graphic designer from the beautiful machine she created.
Very cool bike. You got my thumbs up also. Great job the way it turned out. Ride safe and have a good Saturday.
I like it. Beautiful bike
The intro music is AMAZING.
Great bike
all talk of aesthetics, Jubilee clip on the exhaust 👌
Beautiful piece of machinary

Nice ride. Glad you kept the exhaust right where it landed. It is slick there. Love the way you pronounce yamaha. 👍
Very nice, and sounds great. I like the pipes and the scorpion in the tank recess. Something fresh.
Very nice.
My favorite bike so far on Bike Shed. Kudos to both you and Barry. Most of the bikes here seem to be cafe racers. I prefer choppers and bobbers. I love a hard tail with a parallel twin in a white frame with a tear drop tank. Fabuloso!
I like the style of the bike and it suits you symmetrically well. Very nice
That's beautiful. Love the lines and the scorpion is a nice touch.
Great bike it was my first commute bike back-and-forth to work and school
Simple and decent bike owned by a graphic designer, not bad.
that stealth ignition is SICK!!! great bike!
That seat is impeccable!
Lucky you ! Fantastic looking and amazing sounding bike!
Just a little jealous.
Nice clean lines and your exhaust sounds awsome . Dave Aotearoa nz
Nicely done
I had a friend who was a roomie at one time who bought one of these new. I had a Z1 at the time, had given up a Honda CB500F4. This bike was sooo cool. I’d love to have something like this now. Good on you for having the vision.
Takes me back to my bSA 500 Gold Star rigid,.
That's a nice bike! Congrats on the build, very sharp.
Sweet!! Love the clean lines of the bike...great job 😊
Nice Ride. It really has a European sports car sound with that long exhaust.
Oh man!
Its reminiscent of my stingray bicycle when I was a kid! Frickin love it!
Radar 211, I had a Schwinn Lemon Peeler when I was a kid, so I know about your Sting Ray!!!!
Made a beautiful bike more beautiful. That's a rare breed of choppers.
Yup, you can't go wrong with old school ❗👍✌️
Very nice, clean Machine! 👌
Very nice ,and that bike.
Very cool
Wow.thats one epic Yamaha..looks on in awe..😮
It's beautiful yamahas are tough I had a springer frontend king and queen seat sissy bar with a big question mark on it ,paint about 6 times rattle can(krylon) every color in store mileage every time I came to border of arkansaw and other surrounding states I turned around a lot of dirt roads and storys of people went all over my home state Ark. that really is a great bike groovy
Nice putt really dig the pipes!
