That takes me back a bit. Our first time on water in a cruiser from Oundle Marina in 1970 with a year-old boy who we kept firmly clipped to the boat. It was hot and dry all the time and the river was so low that we couldn't get upstream as far as Wellingborough. The locks look a bit more civilised now and I can remember no official moorings, it was all wild, but very beautiful, as it still is.
Great one that. Many moons ago we lived in a small village outside of Oundle (near Fotheringhay actually) and moored in Oundle Marina. It is indeed a lovely river (when not in flood:-)) and this brought back many, many happy memories. Thank you so much.
Good video thank you Our old lab started having lots of tummy trouble he had not had dog food for about two years, we cook him up rice with boiled chicken and veg, 1 1/2 cups of rice and 4 sainsburies basic chicken portions with veg will last him for 4 days if kept in a fridge. It was a amazing how much better he got once we took him off of the dog food. We sometimes break a raw egg in it to. For his breakfast he has some tined pilchards to help with his old bones, but most days you would think he was still a puppy, you would not think he was an 11 year old lab cross with a pony lol he is a big old boy. My daughters young dog started getting ill so now he is on the rice food to but he is posh he gets uncle bens rice fresh each day. A lot of people I have spoken to say their dogs struggle with dog food, it’s all the additives thar are in them
This is something we will probably end up doing if she keeps having these episodes, I think feeding her the food dry was having to much of a strain on her digestive system. Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment👍
Lewis Gardener good dog food is so processed give dogs all diseases like humans. This is why my 5 year old staffs has been on a barf diet since 7 weeks old
Wow! The scene at 15:04 is gorgeous - it's like a Constable painting come to life! The countryside still looks like the way he depicted it 200 years ago & you captured it with an Iphone! Amazing. Narrowboating would be a wonderful way for plein air artists to ply their craft, wouldn't it. Wake up, motor around for a nice scene to paint, pound down some mooring pins, set up your easel and that's your office for the day. Sigh.
As a Cambridge boy who wants to move onto the canals, I came here to see what the connection from Cambridge to the greater canal network would look like, and I came across this lovely channel.

Completely agree with you about the rubbish. On the estate where I used to live, there's a sports field. It started with a couple of broken garden chairs dumped in one corner. Soon after that, a few kitchen cabinets appeared, followed by a three piece suite and then a bathroom suite complete with toilet - looking ready for use! Glad to know Bonnie is better. 😊
Just watched you for the first time. Absolutely love your energy and enthusiasm. Thank you so much. We are considering your lifestyle and love all the information you have given us.. THANK YOU again.

Hope you get a bit of relief on your knee honey. Best wishes and thanks for such fab videos. Anderton lock can't wait to see what happened.
Funny story, American soldiers, during WWII, who were stationed at Twatt, on Mainland in the Shetland Islands, would have been too embarrassed to write home telling their mothers where they were located. Luckily for them, war-time rules prevented them from revealing their location. By the way, it's an old Norse word meaning small parcel of land.

Lovely locations with village's and church's, although I have never been or used a narrow boat it's very inspiring. Thanks for your updates and video clips....
Great video and some fantastic scenery. So glad you got your little dog sorted as it must be a worry not being near a vet when something like this strikes. We have a small motorhome and although our little fella is no longer with us, he was known to lots of vets all across the country. Thank you for sharing.

@Andy Wilderness I mean like they have in England. I wish I had more time (I’m 64 ) in what’s left of my life. Thinking of building a house boat & finding out where the Missouri starts and then to where it ends.
Hi guys. A great video as always. So you were at Wansford. I originate from near Uppingham and from school we used to got to Wansford camping….going on our bikes along the A47....there used to be a campsite for schools and scouts just below the railway....had some good times there. Happy days.

But I could not stop watching it looked idyllic and such a great video to watch. Liked and subscribed....excellent work.

WOW.. I had a Terrier\Pekingese that looked nearly identical to her.. Buddy was his name. 13 lbs.He was smart..! I taught him to climb an 8' ladder. I got him when he was 8 weeks old.. I was a trucker and pulled into a truck stop.. went in and took a shower.. when I got back into the truck I turned on the CB and someone who said they were out front in a van selling some puppies.. It was love at first sight. So we went trucking.. I had him for a short 4.5 years. I was out late one night (10pm or so) on a date and when I came back, the neighbors came out and said he was barking earlier but it got quiet. Well.. I had built a fence around my RV in the park we were living at.. so he squeezed out the gate, got out on the street and got hit. The GF and I found him at a 24 vet care place 8 miles away where someone saw him laying on the road, put him in some kind of box and drove him there. I was about 4 hrs too late by the time I got there. Internal injuries got him. So my thoughts and prayers are with you.. even though this was about 2 yrs ago.
We met some TW,s at Oundle bridge. They were on a Narrow Boat and travelling through the Bridge the wrong way and nearly sunk us in our canoes. Wasnt a pleasant experience. Cheers from George and Jane
Enjoy you vlog, I watch another channel where a guy from England is rebuilding a sail boat and he used the term "touch wood" similar to here in US "knock on wood" , interesting same words in the same night. Thank You
I wouldn't be surprised if you receive a request from the tourist board to use your film as part of their promotion , you captured amazing footage of some of the glorious countryside we have , and your film shows it is glorious , thanks for being such graet guides on your journey , it was a pleasure to watch
lovely vlog , i don't think i'd like to go wild swimming wuth all them reeds about , you can soon get tangled up in them , which can be dangerous , glad to see debs is recovering from her knee problem , & glad to see you remembered the food as well as the wine, gin & beer , hahaha , & glad bonny is ok . thanks for sharing .
Have just discovered you! And subbed. Ahh, wish I could cruise, but I'm too poor. Ah well. Anywzys, what I really wanted to say was that I come from that neck of the woods and although I have been in exile in the North East for thirty years I still come "home" every year for hollibobs, usually pitching my little caravan at Ferry Meadows. I can recommend that you have a trip on the Nene Valley Railway (they have beer on board) and spend some time at the Wildlife Haven at the Peterborough end. So lovely and peaceful. loves, Sarah
We sold our touring caravan when we bought the boat, but we had many a happy time at Ferry Meadows site, we are, as we speak, moored up at Orton lake right next to Ferry Meadows, Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment👍
I have always thought dried food not enough on its own, dogs don't have those teeth for nothing. Glad you have sense to listen to your faithful hounds. Like your boat too, really fancy trying this lifestyle out for myself and you have made it all the more appealing with your chilled out bank holiday and pimms
Karen Wilkinson We are 5 month on and no more stomach upsets, still slacking the dried food until soft. We had always been told from the vets to feed it dry as it helps to keep their teeth clean as they eat it. Its is a very chilled out life but it still occasionally throws you a curve ball 🎾
Like the cut of both of you're jibs, nicely done, i'm an Australian, some of that footage looks very tantalizing, but you try that crap down here and a crocodile will straight up take your first born....hehe i'm just kidding, wonderful vid, all the best
My female Chihuahua has this stomach issue here and there. I do a tummy massage, when I hear the gurgling, to get things moving. I start off light and work with her until things start moving along. No idea if it is the same for Bonnie. Also, like others, I make her food. Huge difference.
Excellent vid guys, thanks also for the tutorial on how to use the locks etc, myself and family are on our maiden voyage on a narrowboat, kids are grown up,by the way,on the Kennet,Avon out from Bradford on Avon,in a few weeks time, really looking forward to it,just hope the weather is kind, you never know ,we may bump into you along the way, take care guys cheers
My Jasper had a similar thing last year (2019)...the gurgling stomach and plus he would eat huge amounts of grass and later vomit it all up. Many dollars later at the vet, like Bonnie, there was no real conclusion except that they also recommended to get rid of the dry food. So now I cook Jasper's food: lean ground beef (mince) lightly sauteed with S and P and ground rosemary which makes the beef smell and taste so good, peas and carrots and brown rice. He loves it and dances circles everyday when it is time to eat. Occasionally I give him hard boiled egg which he also loves. I don't know how old your Bonnie is but Jasper will be 9 in August and I am happy to feed him well like this. Of course it helps that I have a freezer and can make lots and freeze...that would be a bit difficult for you. Hugs.
Great vlog. Will watch these all back as still interested in doing the Nene when I can even though our plans were scuppered due to Covid. I feel your pain Debs, did the knee brace thing earlier this year too. Luckily all sorted now. Mark, get some wild water footwear...then you won't feel the weeds:) hee hee.

I know only too well that pain of losing a dog❤️
Oooh you got me !! settled down to watch you having a barny with some plastic hull raiders lol ;)
👍
Love the drone footage thats my and my hubbys hobby things always look better from above
Sounds like the farmer has had a lot of people bunking off after their stays..
👍
We met some TW,s at Oundle bridge. They were on a Narrow Boat and travelling through the Bridge the wrong way and nearly sunk us in our canoes. Wasnt a pleasant experience. Cheers from George and Jane
Wow, I assume you mean coming through the wrong arch, that could have ended badly. Glad you survived to tell he tale👍
Just stumbled across your video. Congrats on enjoying life and taking it all in. Thanks for sharing your adventures. It looks wonderful there.
Bronceado McNube Thanks, we are enjoying life and are glad to welcome you aboard,👍
Enjoy you vlog, I watch another channel where a guy from England is rebuilding a sail boat and he used the term "touch wood" similar to here in US "knock on wood" , interesting same words in the same night. Thank You
We use it all the time and jokingly touch our head when saying it😂
Dam another narrowboat Chanel keep it up the good drone footage
Cheers
Thanks 👍
A lovely video.
Glad you enjoyed it
I wouldn't be surprised if you receive a request from the tourist board to use your film as part of their promotion , you captured amazing footage of some of the glorious countryside we have , and your film shows it is glorious , thanks for being such graet guides on your journey , it was a pleasure to watch
That would be cool! we're so glad you enjoyed them👍
To R Fulton , we have canals in NY and New England there are canal boats that you can rent in Upstate New York
👍
lovely vlog , i don't think i'd like to go wild swimming wuth all them reeds about , you can soon get tangled up in them , which can be dangerous , glad to see debs is recovering from her knee problem , & glad to see you remembered the food as well as the wine, gin & beer , hahaha , & glad bonny is ok . thanks for sharing .
I did attempt the swimming but freaked out when I felt the weeds around my legs 😂
We sold our touring caravan when we bought the boat, but we had many a happy time at Ferry Meadows site, we are, as we speak, moored up at Orton lake right next to Ferry Meadows,
Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment👍
That's the nicest narrowboat I've seen, period!!!!!
The A14....is wonderful..
Spent half my life going up and down that
I dream of getting on the a14 and off to Felix.. heaven...and they've completed some major changes in the last couple of years so it's nicer now..
Like the cut of both of you're jibs, nicely done, i'm an Australian, some of that footage looks very tantalizing, but you try that crap down here and a crocodile will straight up take your first born....hehe i'm just kidding, wonderful vid, all the best
Dont think I could live in Oz, Croc, snakes and poisonous spiders 😳
My female Chihuahua has this stomach issue here and there. I do a tummy massage, when I hear the gurgling, to get things moving. I start off light and work with her until things start moving along. No idea if it is the same for Bonnie. Also, like others, I make her food. Huge difference.
Ha Ha if I started giving bonnie tummy massages I think she would start faking it for the extra attention
What a jolly pair of boaters you both are ,such a lovely video very relaxing , keep well regards from Austria
Thank you
Great video and you’re obviously big hat people, nice bit of drone footage.
Thanks 👍

@@welldeckdiaries5610 yes i did thanks,very well presented,it will be a great help,kind regards,Colin
Hugs.
Glad to hear Jasper's loving his new diet, we are still soaking Bonnies food and we haven't had any more upset stomachs, she's 7 and Alfie is 5
Aqua socks are on my shopping list
Lovely seeing my local area from the river.
Glad you enjoyed it👍
Very nice little video, loving the drone footage 👍

Yet again you have now made us want to go on the Nene. Towpath tucker sounds like an Aussie saying.
