That takes me back a bit. Our first time on water in a cruiser from Oundle Marina in 1970 with a year-old boy who we kept firmly clipped to the boat. It was hot and dry all the time and the river was so low that we couldn't get upstream as far as Wellingborough. The locks look a bit more civilised now and I can remember no official moorings, it was all wild, but very beautiful, as it still is.

Wow! The scene at 15:04 is gorgeous - it's like a Constable painting come to life! The countryside still looks like the way he depicted it 200 years ago & you captured it with an Iphone! Amazing.
Narrowboating would be a wonderful way for plein air artists to ply their craft, wouldn't it. Wake up, motor around for a nice scene to paint, pound down some mooring pins, set up your easel and that's your office for the day. Sigh.

Great one that. Many moons ago we lived in a small village outside of Oundle (near Fotheringhay actually) and moored in Oundle Marina. It is indeed a lovely river (when not in flood:-)) and this brought back many, many happy memories. Thank you so much.

    Good video thank you
Our old lab started having lots of tummy trouble he had not had dog food for about two years, we cook him up rice with boiled chicken and veg, 1 1/2 cups of rice and 4 sainsburies basic chicken portions with veg will last him for 4 days if kept in a fridge. It was a amazing how much better he got once we took him off of the dog food. We sometimes break a raw egg in it to. For his breakfast he has some tined pilchards to help with his old bones, but most days you would think he was still a puppy, you would not think he was an 11 year old lab cross with a pony lol he is a big old boy. My daughters young dog started getting ill so now he is on the rice food to but he is posh he gets uncle bens rice fresh each day. A lot of people I have spoken to say their dogs struggle with dog food, it’s all the additives thar are in them

Completely agree with you about the rubbish. On the estate where I used to live, there's a sports field. It started with a couple of broken garden chairs dumped in one corner. Soon after that, a few kitchen cabinets appeared, followed by a three piece suite and then a bathroom suite complete with toilet - looking ready for use! Glad to know Bonnie is better. 😊

Thanks for a very nice video. From the beginning I noticed the high quality of the photography. I would like to see a video on the narrowboats along the way which were not residential, the sunken boats, commercial freight boats, abandoned boats, hippy boats, and the alternatives to pretty, seamanlike boats such as yours. There are lots of videos about the nice boats, but a video on the rest of the vessels would convey the overall experience of canal life. I just subscribed and hope to see more of your videos. Thanks.

Im sure if you scroll through my vids you will find a selection of different moored boats of all conditions. we don't seem to have passed very many boats of the River Nene compared to the canals. Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment👍

Great vlog. Will watch these all back as still interested in doing the Nene when I can even though our plans were scuppered due to Covid. I feel your pain Debs, did the knee brace thing earlier this year too. Luckily all sorted now. Mark, get some wild water footwear...then you won't feel the weeds:) hee hee.

I have watched numerous Narrowboat videos and one thing I noticed so far is the cleanliness of the channels, no litter at all. Here in Canada you can't go anywhere without litter. I kayak and canoe and its a sin to find litter in the most remote areas.

"We stay at some more of the Friends of the River Nene members moorings." .... is this an annual membership fee that you pay? It'a a beautiful mooring, indeed!!! Wonderful share.

If you stay at the moorings then I assume you are a member and will be able to answer your own question, as these are members only moorings😁

I have always thought dried food not enough on its own, dogs don't have those teeth for nothing. Glad you have sense to listen to your faithful hounds. Like your boat too, really fancy trying this lifestyle out for myself and you have made it all the more appealing with your chilled out bank holiday and pimms

Karen Wilkinson We are 5 month on and no more stomach upsets, still slacking the dried food until soft. We had always been told from the vets to feed it dry as it helps to keep their teeth clean as they eat it. Its is a very chilled out life but it still occasionally throws you a curve ball 🎾

It was beautiful, just want to get back though now, but like you pair we've been stationary due to the rain and Strong Stream Warnings, when these are issued some of the locks are chained open to let the flood water through and also the rise in water levels make it impossible to get under some of the bridges

@@welldeckdiaries5610 looks like we'll be turning around as levels ahead keep rising. Grrrrrrrr.

I've returned to the vlog as its probably one of my favourites, showing scenery and lovely the moorings you stayed at.
I'm currently moored at the Northampton end of the Nene, but will be making a few trips up and down the nene over the next 8 months.
    Loving your vlogs, David.

Such a storybook life. I started at the beginning of your journey and enjoy each video. Do you ever catch your dinner from the river? I believe this is the prettiest canal I’ve seen you on so far. Love Deb’s beautiful smile and your “Right Nice Pint” makes me very thirsty! 😎. Many blessings to you on your journey.
