Whiterun Guard, Jesus Christ, people have been repeating that joke so many times that ceased to be funny to me. I expected so see people discussing preston and comparing him to other companions, but instead most just repeat that old phrase over and over again
Francisco MM Hey bud. I was just having a little fun, i just started playing fallout 4 so the memes are new to me, i thought it was funny, and plus i do like preston as a character. have a good day
And unfortunately he has nothing else, except self-confidence issues. He’s a good guy, but there are so many other lovable characters in the game that people would rather have as companions.
An interesting character with huge potential who was completely ruined by the stupid radiant quest system. It is also a shame that there was not some special dialogue with him when you returned to Quincy or defeated the Gunners there aside from "liking" it.
enough, a friend of mine has one that limits it to 1 at a time and allows you to accept or reject them. because im on ps4 i only have acces to one that limits the amount
Ye Itd be cool to kill all the gunners and u instantly get max affinity (idk how to say it) with him for serving justice for the people that have died protecting innocent commonwealth civilians who are trying to make their lives better
Ya Boy Toy! The mod "we are the minutemen" will limit the number and timing of Preston's radiant quests as well as improve the faction in general making it a veritable army (with enough settlements and player levels anyway) that could reasonably take on the Brotherhood (if hostile), the Institute, or any other threat to the Commonwealth. Now that I've experienced it I wouldn't do a Minuteman playthrough without it.
They should have added a mission to retake Quincy with the Minutemen as a personal quest for Preston after you reestablished the Castle and got a certain affinity rank with him. Much like the quest where you visit Vault 95 with Cate and can help her to get clean. As I said, wasted potential.
Preston is actually one of my favorites. Take a step back and actually look at the man. For all he's seen and for all that's happened to him, he still keep believing in Doing Right by people, and keeps to his ideals. He's a good man in a horrible world, trying to make it a batter place bit by painful bit. Imagine the kind of personal strength that takes.
I also see the radiant quests as a way to get more scrap in my survival playthrough. See I don't care about the fact I'm a general of the MM and I technically shouldn't be doing all the missions (which is why I Spawn a bunch of MM around me when I approach a settlement and again when I get to the mission location in question. People are so impatient it boggles my mind. The radiant quests may be constant but that's the world you're in, constantly in danger. And a lot of people say well why can't I send others to do the missions? And yeah it's a failure of Bethesda to not include a way to order squads to locations. But a couple mods I've seen are adding that very thing. Maybe Bethesda will heed our calls for improvement but in the mean time. I'll be fighting on the front lines with the rest of my MM.
Preston Garvey *uses a minuteman flare gun to get assistance when a settlement turns hostile during a Nuka-World Raider raid* Praise Kek! Reeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!
Most of the time when he’s talking about Quincy, he seems more upset about the people of the town being betrayed and not the Minute Men, which I think says a lot of his character. He’s got a heart for helping others and not himself
honestly a lot of men like him after an apocalypse would probably be shot and executed by a bunch of assholes but men like him who could survive would probably be heroes and revered for generations as warriors of peace
he was rooting me on when i put on the Silver Shroud voice, like "you better listen to him", making raiders shit themselves because they think im actually the Silver Shroud never got old.
The Minutemen are the Shroud's greatest allies of Justice! What is this? Poor civilians are under attack? The Shroud shall come to deliver Righteous Justice to those Miscreants!
@@mellielay13 not really because he takes advantage of Preston and the Minutemens popularity by takin advantage of travelers by posing as a Minuteman to make caps.
That acting when Preston talks about just not caring anymore? Either that was phenomenal acting, or a bit of the actor's real talk got in there. His voice dips and you can hear honest depression in those words. Right in the feels.
One thing I like about Preston is the emotion his voice actor puts into his performance. When he is talking about the massacre you can feel his pain. They could have done so much more with him and the minutemen. They're not even necessary for the main storyline unless you choose to end the game with them.
His voice actor plays the character right, a lot of people who have gone through some serious things in life can have a tone dead voice like him until they talk about something that they're passionate about
People still defending his bad voice acting with ''it's because he's depressed''. No there's depressed and then there's bad voice acting, your arguement that it's because of his depression is thrown completely out of the window when you take into account that even his happy dialogue and joking dialogue is just as stale and bad lol.
Preston Garvey is a treasure in the fallout universe. In a world where people are killing each other when they should be coming together to make the world a better place.
Sharif Alkorek In my opinion, the NCR is too aggressive in their expansion. If they want you to join, they're going to get you to join whether you like it or not. They only ask nicely in the beginning. Whereas The Minutemen will ask you to join and if you say no, they won't force you to join or destroy you. And there's a decent amount of corruption in the NCR as well. I mean they're a better option than The Legion or the Brotherhood or raiders but I think the Minutemen are more about protecting and providing for the people of the Commonwealth and helping everyone not just themselves. This is just my opinion of course.
For as much shit as Preston gets online, he's for sure my favourtie character. His sense of justice and his desire to help everyone inspires me. I know it sounds dumb but I didn't realize how awesome he was until my second playthrough.
Exactly. I'm a fan of Deacon and Danse myself, but there's something about Preston that's inspiring. It actually took me the Brotherhood ending to fully admire his character. It felt like a mistake.
I don't like him. He's too black and white for me. If you don't dedicate yourself to the minutemen. In his mind you are a selfish prick. if you support the minutemen he literally worships the ground you walk on. Also he hates the Brotherhood of Steel again this because they don't wait on tne settlers hand and foot. Not everyone has time to pick everyone's fruit or dig there latrines. He's such an unbearable prig that you feel compelled to join nuka world just to muck with Presto.
@@kalen2465 ,,He's too black ..." 😧 ,,... and white" 🤔 Okay, that's fair. Yes, he is really onedimensional and predictable. His group = good, everybody else = bad. Helping people = good, encouragement to defend themselves = not even considered. I personally am a fan of natural selection, and if the Minutemen just help everyone, there is no need to improve your situation by yourself. In my playthrough, I imagine some sort of feudal system, where settlers are literal peasants and minutemen are like knights or something (from a society perspective, not the aesthetics of course). They get ressources from the peasants and have to defend them in exchange. That's a fair trade. But Preston does not talk about such stuff. He weakens the population by making it relying on the Minutemen. There is no foundation to his worldview. He's just a good guy without any deeper thoughts. He is just empty. That's usually the kind of people I want to kill (in games).
@@henryneubert7798 To be fair, he doesn't ever really say anything like "everybody else = bad." That's more the Brotherhood's game. He's obviously disappointed if people don't want to join his fight, but the same can be said for most anyone else. He doesn't hate them for it and he definitely wouldn't hurt anyone who isn't actively doing something that warrants it. He also harbors no real malice towards the Railroad or other people who generally seek to do good. Even when you destroy the Institute, he wants you to save as many non-combatants as possible, even though, aside from the children, they all played some part in the Institute's crimes, many of them probably hold the Institute's sociopathic philosophy, and some may even act on it and hurt more people in the future. He wants to save them anyway because he believes in the inherent value of life, and he's the only one of the four main faction leaders who thinks that way. Having said all that, he IS pretty much a Superman/Captain America-style boy scout and I can see how that could get dull. He's pretty much the direct opposite of X6-88, who is even more boring because on top of being at least as immoral as Preston is moral, he is deliberately designed to have almost no personality to speak of. Preston is really straight-laced and uptight and it can definitely be irritating if you are anything short of a lawful good saint. Personally, I also tend to believe in natural selection. If some idiot decides he wants to climb in the tiger enclosure at the zoo for a TikTok video, he deserves to be mauled. Don't risk the lives of people who are actually worth a damn trying to save him, but I digress. Honestly, I wouldn't run with Preston myself outside of a Minutemen-focused build. I'd be more likely to choose Nick or Curie if I was feeling noble. I'd pick Macready, Cait, or Hancock if I just want to mind my own business. And I'd go for either Strong or Cait if I just want to be an asshole without the fun police breathing down my neck. X6-88, Danse, and Deacon to a lesser extent are all like Preston in that they're pretty tightly tethered to their factions, so they would mostly be used for playthroughs where I go all in on their respective teams.
@@metanightmare4454 Yes, you are right. ,,Everybody else = bad" was a wrong statement. But everything else keeps beeing valid. And yes, there are companions representing the other factions and fitting their ideology, but none of them is so naive and weak-minded. Deacon is even more annoying as Preston in my opinion, because he is lying in dialogues and screams goovy lines towards the enemy, but at least he is not as incompetent as Preston. I can dismiss and ignore Deacon, but Preston gives me random quests even when i'm the general (yes, i can ignore the quests, but he puts junk into my quest journal that i want to keep clean). There are foot soldiers for that. Danse is a fanatic, but at least he has some development and some foundations to his worldview. The brotherhood is fascist, but their dogma makes at least some sense, and so it makes sense for Danse to believe in his faction. The institute companion is, as you mentioned, the opposite of Preston, but just as Deacon, he is not as weak and naive, and because he is not annoying i can tolerate him more. To be honest, i don't like any of the vanilly companions to a degree that i would want to travel with them constantly, maybe except Piper and Valentine, but thy are too fragile to make it believable that they would survive in my heavily modded wasteland. I use the unlimited companion framework and have Nate and Ellen as modded companions around. Neither of them annoys me with ideologies, and both are strong and tough enough to make travelling around the wasteland believable. Maybe my point isn't that clear, i simply have problems discussing things in english because it's not my first language. Sorry for that.
I think part of the reason he's so despised by fans can be blamed on Bethesda limiting the dialogue to four choices. If you had to specifically ask him if he had a quest available rather than it always happening when you talk to him, he'd be much less annoying. It'd also have helped if once you have retaken the castle and assigned someone to radio freedom he wouldn't give you quests anymore, since you can just listen to the radio. You shouldn't need to talk to him to complete them at that point either.
"You know that settlement you sent me to help? They've decided to join the Minutemen." To me, being able to see his reaction to each settlement addition is worth the "inconvenience" of talking to him to end each quest.
I noticed the more settlements I got, and the better the average settlement happiness was, the better the back up I'd receive with the minutemen flare gun@@MatthewN8OHU
Out of all of the companions, Preston's story is the only one that makes me wanna cry. He never cared about himself, he always cared about everyone else.
No Preston is the kind who actually go help people instead of complains. The only reason made you think otherwise is the Fallout 4 first person gameplay mechanics. That the only way you witness him in action is leading by you, which in lore perspective, he will do it anyway, with or without sole survivors help. And the game-maker didn't put much effort to make the world running realistically enough, that you can encounter him in action, or at least heard it from ways like settler's dialog.
"I'd led them to Concord... and we had no hope of getting out alive. The thing is... that was actually okay with me. I was ready to die. It was what I deserved. It was what I wanted" There's just too many feels here to handle :,(
When i first idolized Preston on my Minutemen character i was so hurt and felt so bad for him when he told me he wanted to kill himself and was basically depressed..
Knowing Preston, he would have gone out in a blaze of glory while his charges escaped. Probably would have almost wiped out the raiders, too, only to fall to the Deathclaw, but not without getting his fair licks in. Preston lead 20 people, on foot, through Ghouls, Super Mutants, Raiders, Gunners, Synths, and a whole host of wasteland wildlife to several places, while battling his mental demons, before the Sole Survivor showed up on the same day he did to Concord. He is a bad ass, and if everyone is wrong about the Vault 75 dwellers formed either the Gunners or the Minutemen, then Preston is definitely one of their kids or grandkids
Damn, I actually care about Preston now. He does actually care about the people and he does want to make a difference. It's just how Bethesda designed the game that make him the settlement joke guy.
DJ ST4RF1RE it’s kind of makes me mad to see all the settlement jokes here. It just seems that many people here missed oxhorn’s point. But hey I don’t speak for them so I can’t really say much.
It really shows how bad Bethesda was getting. They made a sentimental character, but didn’t care enough for it to show. They have someone like this in all of they’re games.
@@quezanater331 Blunt, but no other companion gets as much disrespect and picked apart as Preston. Wouldn't surprise me if most of the fuel happens to be under the radar racism.

It surprised me when he told me about not caring about living, he had shown so much hope when I sided with the minutemen, he was so cheery. After he said this to me it felt great saving him, it wasn’t just killing raiders for loot anymore, this fallout 4 moment really touched me. United We Stand Minutemen players!
Naked Snake did you change his weapons by any chance? If not, then give him a good gun like a plasma rifle or something. If he's still bad, then give him a melee weapon.
The last phrase was totally unnecessary. What do you want, that the whole internet come to cry on your poor person? Sorry to break your fantasies, but, actually, the people who might care are up to something more important than you, an unknown person on the internet. The info is interesting though.
I started to hate Preston because of his bullshit quests all the time, but honestly, because of this video, I feel bad for him. He has potential and people should calm down about him.
Preston’s Last words When he dies should be: General... There is... Another Settlement that needs... Ugh...Your Help...I’ll mark it on...Your map... Ughhhh
Even if you take away the radiant quest he's still 1. The most boring companion in the game 2. The most incompotent combat-wise. There's videos of Danse, MacCready and other companions with no clothes on destroying Preston in seconds without him doing much damage to them at all. He's garbage on all fronts.
So basically, many players shift the hatred of gamedev's laziness and mistake to poor Preston....a ingame character for whole gameplay reasons instead of any story/lore reason.
Brother, the love and empathy you bring to the game are very much appreciated. If your ever down in central eastern Texas I got a arturo fuente and a tumbler of Oban single malt with your name on it. Well done sir, well done indeed.
16:15, 17:28 That speaks alot about the mans character, even though your his hero and even though you helped many people including him he doesn't give you a free pass, he stands by his morals.
Preston is sincere and wants to help anyone at a minutes notice Me: Help me find my baby boy? Preston: Nah, I need to protect Sanctuary from the bugs you just killed. In fact, you can do me a favour and help some nameless couple who are having their potatoes stolen.
I see what you're saying, but he does help you find your son. He can't immediately abandon the people under his protection to help someone he just met.

I love Preston. He's a good guy that just wants to help save the Commonwealth. Not only that but I see his radient quests as a way to get EXP and caps. Edit: Not only that but Preston is right. The Commonwealths only hope for getting back to how it used to be is the Minuteman.
Honestly his settlement quest is actually a good way to grind xp especially when they're bunch up together that means you can farm more without having to wait longer for another quest, I only find it annoying when they suddenly popped up when I'm in the middle of the main quests
I had never heard the dialogue exchange from around 18:00 and I actually think it's made me like Preston all that much more. The way he passionately refused to bend over for the Sole Survivor was uncanny. In a game where it would be easy to play god, it's the little stuff like this that sucks you right back into this world and let's you know that these characters have real thoughts and feelings that cannot be walked over. Good job Bethesda.
Also, I'm a straight male who roleplays myself as the Sole Survivor with my character, so I'd also never heard the romance dialogue and it melted my heart. The way he kept his feelings from her in order not to make her feel rushed or outright ruin her grieving process is truly selfless. That takes a special kind of care to put her completely ahead of himself, despite his greatest desires and that's what makes Preston a great character.
Same. I think he's honestly one of the best characters to have ever been made. I mean, in the kind and caring type of character. That's why I like him.
Waiter: what would you like on your mashed potatoes? Mind: Preston Gravy Me: I would like Preston Gravy Me: dying from laughter Also me: willingly gets eaten by death claw
Am I the only one who clears the Castle before Preston asks me? I don't want anyone to die. It ends up fine as long as I have a Fat Man for the queen, pistol for the eggs and hatchings, and then the weapon that has the most perk points in its rank. I don't need the innocent people to die, because they use pipe rifles and double barrel shotguns. I love them but they aren't strong enough without the Buffed Minutemen Mod, but I want them weak. That's what they are, farmers not soldiers. I'm level 102, I still use the flare gun and artillery. Not for much help, but I want to show the power of the Minutemen. All my settlements are happy, and my people there are strong. Because of the Minutemen, the Commonwealth is safe, and so is Garvey. I love Preston as a companion, and as a Minutemen. I like how the developers made it so you can't be Preston's friend and a raider.
Bro, you have a real talent for showing that fallout 4 really isn't as shallow that people claim it is. Awesome video! Also, I may be mistaken but I believe its been confirmed that fallout 4 will have more content in the future, hopefully each character profile will be extended?
TheBrickMasterB Why do you think so? Fallout 4 is my first game of the series so I 'm very interested in the differences or a comparison. Maybe I will play New Vegas after all :)
I actually really like Preston as a character because he represents sincerity and kindheartedness at face value. He may be seen as naive but he's someone who believes in the greater good and tries his best. I can't ask for more than that.
As someone who romanced Preston I'll explain what *I* found very attractive about Preston's personality. First of all he is extremely loyal and expressive, and that loyalty isn't just because he finds you attractive or alluring, he is so because he admires the person you are. He is also as the settlers say, "One of the good-guys." and to me that is the most important thing. There is no lying, no ulterior motive: He is selfless and would give up his life for people who can't defend themselves. He is also extremely humble in his work which means he is not doing what he is doing for the glory of it. All in all for a player who actually believes in the Minutemen and the restoration of everyday life, a romance would not be unwelcomed. Given you enjoy the male gender, of course.
Is it bad that I kinda like Preston. Like he's my favorite because those "Settlements need some help" are just a xp mine with the right mods. Sure he could use some improvement, well who doesn't bed some.
Sole Survivor: -Saves preston and the settlers at Concord -Helps settlers in trouble -Rebuilds the minutemen -Is the general Settlers: "Have a dangerous look about you, hope you are not here for me"

Preston garvey… my best friend, loyal and very new captain of the commonwealth minutemen. preston is a lovable, friendly and good person. he is an awesome minutemen and should deserve general because of how admiarable person he is, he is wonderful guy, a true believer in the minutemen and the people of the commonwealth. in my first playthrough I had no idea what fallout 4 had in for me. when I went to concord I saved preston, I helped settlements, I became the general, I ( with the help of major Ronnie shaw and preston ) rebuilt the castle, I saved settlements from raids and turned every settlement into a minutemen settlement. I believe synths are people. I believe that preston, Ronnie, joe becker ( rest in peace) and ezra hollis ( may he also rest in peace) are true minutemen. For the minutemen!
You know, with mods or the flare gun, you can lead your minutemen to kill the gunners of Quincy and use a mod to turn it into a settlement. After that you can do the same to kill off the ones in Gunner’s Plaza
I feel bethsda dropped the ball for nuka world for not including the minutemen, eg if u do a good ending, after u become overboss u tell preston but he asks u to go undercover so to speak, u do the raider missions etc but u always tell preston 1st so the minutemen can set up, from say raiding a settlement, u bring the raiders but they get wiped by the waiting mm, then the mm use what faction clothes, so it looks like u have done the raid, sad bethsda didnt allowing the mm in dealing with nuka world
solduspython Would have liked leading the Minutemen on a purge of Nukaworld, like we do with the BOS or Institute during Far Harbor. But I guess that's just asking for too much.
... and then one of the two remaining gangs finds out about it(based on the favoring thing) and you have to murder them leaving only one group at nuka. At that point whatever faction you side with decides coast is clear for a purge. It could have been such a complex thing/inner conflict type DLC, much like Far Harbor, but I guess after making all the new models the budget ran out.
At the same time they are not afraid to drive an opposing force out of a place they deem tactically important. Like the Castle. I would not have been surprised if Preston would have said something along the lines of needing to remove the raiders from nuka world because they would pose too great a threat. Not to mention the traders which are being enslaved, he surely does not like that either. If caught wind of that, it would have been another settlement to clear. I also don't see how the Brotherhood would not have wanted to infiltrate the place given how they like to force themselves on places.
Maybe they would consider how close they are and how dangerous they can become to the commonwealth. I mean they did set their sights on the commonwealth after you take back nuka world for the raiders. But I feel that it is not like bethsda choose not to do it because they can but because they can't with time and funds being the reason... Or it simply did not cross their mind as they have a lot on their plate as is.
***** personally I was for it but said fuck it when they decided on involving the sole survivor(I have no issue on Nora versus Nate just prefer they of not used the sole survivor in general)
Unfortinely it is not expressed very well. If the gameplay and the main story treats them as non-important, throws them aside for gameplay sake and/or don't commit to their concept, of course people will make fun of it. Bethesda Game studios has this problem of never commiting to an idea. Either executing in a shallow way or misguiding the original concept for something safe.
I really like Preston. One of the funniest moments with him happened last night. I was talking tk him about what happened to the minutemen and, before the conversation ended, it paused for 5 seconds and then he said "I've just received word from a settlement asking for our help."
Me at 0:33 I want to say another settlement needs your help so bad, Preston isn’t necessarily bad, it’s just every time I try to get him to be my companion, he asks me to help more people, and I always do
Preston Garvey is actually my favorite companion and he was the first companion I got romance level with. I get annoyed with the shity memes, he is the most genuine and respectful companion in my opinion. Love Preston yo, share the Preston love! Or something like that.

"ENOUGH, GARVEY, ENOUGH!" Sole survivor~ I'd turn my back on the Minutemen too after you learn just how damn annoying they can be!
Garvey is my 2nd favorite Companion after Nick because of who he is and what he does. I really think it's a shame that bethesda made him a bit less interesting in terms of conversation and diologue in visiting places (such as quincy or the super duper mart). Preston is one of the people in FO4 that has the least downsides (given that you shut off those radiant quests that is). Danse is really cool but his pathalogical following of the BoS code can be very annoying from time to time (such as his fucking complaining when you talk to ghouls or synths) and Cait is just an asshole 24/7. Preston is the only person i know of in the game who is good in every single way.
I hate Preston so much that I kill him on sight, and I love Cait so much that I made her my missus. :-P I kill Nick because he's a Synth, but I love hanging out with Strong, and Hancock is good for combat, too. And Danse, I love him because I'm as much Brotherhood as he is, AD VICTORIAM! Seems we're pretty much opposites, though you're not mentioning Hancock and Strong, we might have a small amount of common ground there. ;-)
Bryan Von Friently Excuse me but as a non- native speaker who is trying to improve I would like to know: shouldn't it be "a person who" or is "a person that" alright as well?
I personally like Curie and Codsworth the most. Nick's great and all, but the cheerful naivete of Curie is just adorable and Codsworth's companion progression did a good job of getting me attached to him. It might be partially because I've always wanted a Mr. Handy companion in the games, but I really did like the way his character developed into more than just "standard robot butler".
dlawson79 I gave Nora's ring to Longfellow then when we went to the pub I checked his inventory, the ring was gone and there was 15 caps and a bottle of bourbon

An interesting character with huge potential who was completely ruined by the stupid radiant quest system.
It is also a shame that there was not some special dialogue with him when you returned to Quincy or defeated the Gunners there aside from "liking" it.
Vahlen Is there a mod that can turn that off? That would be great.
enough, a friend of mine has one that limits it to 1 at a time and allows you to accept or reject them.
because im on ps4 i only have acces to one that limits the amount

Evan Ulven Well in that case, there just happens to be a settlement that could use some help and another and another and another and....
Finally, someone who actually cares about Preston and likes him!!! I Like him, as a favorite!!!
*Preston Garvey liked that*
Preston Garvey *uses a minuteman flare gun to get assistance when a settlement turns hostile during a Nuka-World Raider raid* Praise Kek! Reeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!
Most of the time when he’s talking about Quincy, he seems more upset about the people of the town being betrayed and not the Minute Men, which I think says a lot of his character.
He’s got a heart for helping others and not himself

Let’s be honest, you need to be this country’s negotiator
That acting when Preston talks about just not caring anymore? Either that was phenomenal acting, or a bit of the actor's real talk got in there. His voice dips and you can hear honest depression in those words.
Right in the feels.
One thing I like about Preston is the emotion his voice actor puts into his performance. When he is talking about the massacre you can feel his pain. They could have done so much more with him and the minutemen. They're not even necessary for the main storyline unless you choose to end the game with them.
No, you really can't. His voice actor is the absolute worst in the game lol
TheInuyashee Especially after Nuka World. The way he scolds you is chilling.
TheInuyashee YES! Preston had some of the BEST voice acting in Fallout 4.
Preston Garvey is a treasure in the fallout universe. In a world where people are killing each other when they should be coming together to make the world a better place.
DIO BRANDO The NCR just called to say they are doinh the same thing
Sharif Alkorek In my opinion, the NCR is too aggressive in their expansion. If they want you to join, they're going to get you to join whether you like it or not. They only ask nicely in the beginning. Whereas The Minutemen will ask you to join and if you say no, they won't force you to join or destroy you. And there's a decent amount of corruption in the NCR as well. I mean they're a better option than The Legion or the Brotherhood or raiders but I think the Minutemen are more about protecting and providing for the people of the Commonwealth and helping everyone not just themselves.
This is just my opinion of course.
DIO BRANDO by marking maps
Preston basically told me to "fuck off" when I wanted his help to save my son because I didn't do enough quests for him.
They've decided to join the Minutemen."
To me, being able to see his reaction to each settlement addition is worth the "inconvenience" of talking to him to end each quest.
I noticed the more settlements I got, and the better the average settlement happiness was, the better the back up I'd receive with the minutemen flare gun@@MatthewN8OHU

Anon CO or they are brutally stomped out by society
No Preston is the kind who actually go help people instead of complains. The only reason made you think otherwise is the Fallout 4 first person gameplay mechanics. That the only way you witness him in action is leading by you, which in lore perspective, he will do it anyway, with or without sole survivors help. And the game-maker didn't put much effort to make the world running realistically enough, that you can encounter him in action, or at least heard it from ways like settler's dialog.

There's just too many feels here to handle :,(
When i first idolized Preston on my Minutemen character i was so hurt and felt so bad for him when he told me he wanted to kill himself and was basically depressed..

I thought his quests were like that on purpose.

The Nerd Empire it may have been sad, but I'm not interested in guys
The Nerd Empire - he always sound sad; what's your point?
The Nerd Empire what if I'm a guy?
The Nerd Empire Well I mean sure but I’m not gae
Given you enjoy the male gender, of course.
i agree but the settlement quests are too annoying
Naafidy He also probably has a BBC
Naafidy - Preston Garvey - expressive?!
*pisses herself laughing*
I romanced him after me and him retook Quincy and killed Clint. It was a "why not?" gift, really. I did like his loyalty to his cause and friends.
Naafidy Aww thanks. But you can't be too emotional now.Another settlement needs your help.Ill mark it on your map.
Is it bad that I kinda like Preston. Like he's my favorite because those "Settlements need some help" are just a xp mine with the right mods. Sure he could use some improvement, well who doesn't bed some.
He's my favourite companion
He is a tool nothing more.

After that you can do the same to kill off the ones in Gunner’s Plaza
i wonder what Preston Garvey is like when he is drunk
crying over how he failed before
Toxic Gamer He takes care of the settlement quests himself.
biggydx Quick, where is the VODKA?
ha
He would probably say "another settlement needs your help now fuk off"
i think it's cute how he calls you babe if you romanticize him

Does Preston like the number 9?
Preston: Another settleme-

Preston: has a insane amount of resources that they would like to donate to the minutemen.
17:31 he is so mad he breaks his back
you crossed the line general. There are some things I cant forgive!!!! like my stupid gymnastics teacher

Can't hardly reply, too busy laughing 😂
I was waiting for him to shoot
He bends back like, “WHHHHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAATTTTTTTTTTTTTT!?!?!??!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!???”
It could have been such a complex thing/inner conflict type DLC, much like Far Harbor, but I guess after making all the new models the budget ran out.
solduspython I would have also liked that the gunner group you find in nuka world were more involved and maybe give then some quests
Character profile for Dogmeat? :)
Kerbal Productions he is the descendent of the original dogmeat in fallout 3, that migrated east.

EagleOneoOne well since Shoddycast stopped doing facts in the fallout universe its really only Oxhorn and ThenthApple

Preston Garvey Cool. Can you mark it on my map?
Anshuman Roy *Marks mars*
Preston Garvey no another settlement needs YOUR help
This is actually really, really sad.
Unfortinely it is not expressed very well.
If the gameplay and the main story treats them as non-important, throws them aside for gameplay sake and/or don't commit to their concept, of course people will make fun of it.
Bethesda Game studios has this problem of never commiting to an idea. Either executing in a shallow way or misguiding the original concept for something safe.
though the sole survivor makes the minutemen much stronger
Destroyer2150 couldnt said it better, a game full of waste potential.
Helo F4F Phantom II how is your day goin.
FINNALY!!!!!! SOMEONE WHO ALSO THINKS THE SAME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! YASSSS!!!!!! (but i kinda got to level with curie first...and im not gay so... xD)
Ahem, Danse, Piper, Nick, Maccready all more genuine, and all more sympathetic and caring towards the SS than Preston is.
YESSS THE MEMES HAVE TO DIE and i agree with everything u say :)
Another settlement needs your help
I go to sleep in my bed in Sanctuary Preston comes over to my bed and kneels down and says, "General wake up! We have another settlement that needs our help!"
"Before you go, we have another settlement that needs our help!"
"But before that, I found a great location for a settlement, I need you to set up a beacon there."
"General......"
"ENOUGH, GARVEY, ENOUGH!" Sole survivor~
I'd turn my back on the Minutemen too after you learn just how damn annoying they can be!
Preston Garvey, one of the coolest things about the fallout franchise
Seems we're pretty much opposites, though you're not mentioning Hancock and Strong, we might have a small amount of common ground there. ;-)
Bryan Von Friently
Excuse me but as a non- native speaker who is trying to improve I would like to know: shouldn't it be "a person who" or is "a person that" alright as well?
I personally like Curie and Codsworth the most. Nick's great and all, but the cheerful naivete of Curie is just adorable and Codsworth's companion progression did a good job of getting me attached to him. It might be partially because I've always wanted a Mr. Handy companion in the games, but I really did like the way his character developed into more than just "standard robot butler".
Bryan Von Friently admit it you only saved him to take his hat
dlawson79 I gave Nora's ring to Longfellow then when we went to the pub I checked his inventory, the ring was gone and there was 15 caps and a bottle of bourbon
"Wow, that's phantastic! I don't know what to say. We don't need to rush things. We can't, in fact. There's another settlement that needs our help, General."

I have helped 2422 settlements and that is where I'm drawing the line. *Three minutes later* Alright I'll help another 4000 settlements because I really like you as a character and also because I'm bored.. But seriously Preston Garvey is a great character if you don't just look at the settlements he assigns you to but its really not his fault at all its more of Bethesda's mistake. Not the black guy that I have as my companion
Yeah Preston is amazing Bethesda was crap at that part
Someone might find what I’m about to say racist(for some reason) but is Preston man the only black follower in the game?
@@PretzlcoatlTheFirst As a human companion, yes. But as a companion in general, no. The other black companion is X6 but he's a synth. Hopefully this clears things up.
You know you can install a mod making it impossible for preston to give you an other quest if you have one already ? Making it cool to have him as a companion while having only ONE radient quest and no problem :3
