    OMG! blast from the past. I had one of these. It was my first bike. I almost cried when I had to get rid of it. It was a pain in the ass to maintain, those four inline carbs always gave me trouble, but damn that bike could boogie. Thanks for the vid.

    very nice bike,
    I just got the same bike
    It had a vetter windshield with Raido and speakers
    and a backrest and rear rack
    that I took off asap.
    the bike came with a stainless 4 into 1 headers
    and supertrapp exhaust.
    and
    the bike sat for 4 years
    with the gas on,
    and turned to varnish.
    and flooded the oil
    with gas also.
    so I spent a few hours going
    over the bike,
    removed carbs and cleaned and rebuilt them.
    I left the airbox off
    as I'm going to add k&n filter pods,
    and make my self another cafe racer,
    as I used to own a 72 cb 750
    That I made into a Cafe racer..
    Ride Red
    Bleed Red
    Honda for life

      webslingercj leave the airbox on! our bikes have constant velocity carbs and need the backpressure from the airbox to run correctly.

      I'm changing the Jets
      and adding velocity stacks
      and never had any problems
      with power, responce or reliability
      with over the 10 bikes I've built for others...

    • @treesleavedents
      @treesleavedents  7 лет назад +1

      webslingercj that's awesome, I'm glad your other bikes turned out great. I'm just letting you know that with constant velocity carbs you need to run an air box or they will never run properly.

      treesleavedents
      yea thanks
      I used to have issues
      till I've tested many different ways of tuning them.
      untill figured out
      the correct settings and parts,
      and haven't had any problems since.
      thanks again
      for the advice...

    @JasonWW2000, the exhaust is a MAC brand 4 into 1. I love the way it sounds, when you hit above 6,000rpm it just screams like a race bike, It's intoxicating. I only wish I had the chrome one since the black finish on mine hasn't held up very well... I've seen em online for around 450 or so if you're interested, and they engineered it so you can still access the oil filter easily.

    I have the same bike as well. Just finished carb rebuild today. Yea, not hard but have to pay attention to detail. Still a lot more to do but it will be worth it.

    I got them from my local motorcycle shop. I believe they are a pair of European sport bars with a simple 2 inch rise. Cost me 25 bucks and make a huge difference for the better.

    It does get annoying because of all the curves in the gasket but gasket sealer really helps if only by adhering the gasket to the valve cover while you bolt it back on. good luck!

  • @treesleavedents

    be aware that the cables will be to long if you change the bars though. I am going to be switching to CB750F throttle, clutch, and brake cables/hoses along with finding a CB750F master brake cylinder since the C model one now sits at an odd angle.

    @WinMeAHarley as for an exhaust, good luck with that, check bike junkyards or ebay. Plan on spending around 4 to 5 hundred if you get a new one though...

  • @treesleavedents
    @treesleavedents  12 лет назад

    wiggle them up and down, not side to side. Good luck!

  • @treesleavedents
    @treesleavedents  13 лет назад

    @WinMeAHarley, new valve gasket is easy, tank off, remove the spark plug wires, undo the tachometer cable from the front left of the valve cover. Undo the valve cover bolts and remove carefully. It might take some wiggling as it gets hung up on the cam chain if you aren't careful. clean the valve cover thoroughly in vinegar or another gentle cleaner to make sure all the old gasket is off then apply a very small amount of instant gasket before laying the new gasket and reinstalling everything.

    Bought one for $1800 when I was 16 (1990) and it had 57,000 on it. Only ran out of gas Once.. Wish it had a Fuel Gauge. Traded it for a Motor Home in 1999 and got $2500 for it.
    Just got another one 3/25/2022 with only 28,000 on it for $2200 but it does need a Valve job/Adjustment but can be driven as is. Came with a Front Cowl, Not attached, and someone made it HD style exhaust.. I got on it after ll these years and Daaaammmmmmnnnnn it felt Soooooooo goood to be back on it.... Again just wish they came with a Fuel Gauge.. Any Ideas that don't have something hanging off the side of the tank? Any that go Into the Tank?
    Also, Both of mine never started without needing to pull in the clutch. Is there a Bypass I don't know about?

    • @treesleavedents
      @treesleavedents  2 года назад

      Pretty sure the transmission just needs to be in neutral for it to start without pulling the clutch. As for fuel gauge, I know the range of the bike and just reset the trip odometer every time I fill up. IIRC 150 miles is the absolute run it dry max range I was getting with the 900cc cams. I usually filled up around 115 miles.

    Don't use instant gasket. Get a real one. The instant stuff disolves and melts into blobs that cause blockages. BOOM goes the engine :D

  • @treesleavedents
    @treesleavedents  11 лет назад

    I don't have a video, however it isn't to hard, just be very thorough, take a picture of each step that way you have reference material should you not be sure about where something goes, and make sure you clean everything very well with carb cleaner.
