I love using a steam mop to clean my ceramic tile floors. The steam picks up all kinds of crude and dirt that your old fashion mop leaves behind after the floor has dried - even after you think it's clean! You'll notice the first time you use the steam mop on the tile floors that all this gunk is showing up and you need to remove it (with a paper towel or cloth) so it's not being pushed around by the steam mop. That is all the "stuff" left behind from all your prior "cleaning" of your floors with a conventional mop! Once you get all that old gunk off the floors the first time you use a steam mop you won't have that gunk showing up the next time you use the steam mop! It's awesome and this one Angela is demonstrating looks way better than the one's I've used in the past that come with NO attachments!
Hi Sally, thanks for sharing this. It's true, once the floors are clean you can do fast touch-ups. I have first introduced to steam mops about 7 or 8 years ago. For me, it was love at first sight. The string mops that used to be my favorite were quickly replaced by steam mops that could be used as dry, damp, or steam mops and I never looked back. Each floor has its own traffic patterns and one of the three mopping methods works on every type of flooring. BAM! Thanks for watching. It is great to have you here. 😍

Fantastic comprehensive and thorough product review. Many years ago my husband had trouble breathing and I had to remove all chemicals from my house. I depended solely on Steam cleaning. In addition to cleaning all the surfaces it took out all of the cooking odors Etc in your Fabrics that you did not even know we're there. The home was free of all odors making it feel fresh and clean.

A random comment in a blog post led me buy a steam cleaner over 6 years ago. It was a very inexpensive unit, but I was so impressed with how steam "eats" dirt ... and especially spots around sink, faucets, shower door, grout. That first unit lasted 3 years and when I went looking for a replacement went a bit overboard and bought a unit on wheels ... think rolling carry on size. My thought was rolling it around would be easy and it had a huge reservoir ... in practice, because it WAS large, it was a pain to get going and organized so I found myself not getting it out for smaller clean up. I recently bought a steam mop and a handheld steamer (both Bissell) which I like but I'm missing that hose/padded cleaner you show with the hand held. I pulled the trigger on the Light 'N' Easy :) I can use the Bissell hand held in my RV ... maybe the mop also. Great video - shows all info and instruction - Thank you!!

@@AskAngelaBrown Just follow up. I have had the Light 'N" Easy to almost 2 weeks and I LOVE it. It is the perfect fit for me/my house/how I clean. I try to spend 15-30 minutes every morning on 1 room or 1 task (overall dust). My house is 1100 sq feet and I don't have much in the way of knick-knacks. Wood floors and my area rugs are sisal type indoor/outdoor. At any rate, I can do a quick floor wash/steam or dust, hit surfaces with the hand steamer, etc. Getting mop or hand unit out, filled and ready to go is 5 min. Another great video, Andrea Thank You. I use these steam mop cleaning systems since years and i didn’t know how to use the accessories...Your video gave me some ideas. Also, remember, i was not satisfied with just waccuming the entry carpet each week. Here it rains often. Mud and green stuff get into the carpet, so its shiny color toned grey and i was about garbaging it. But lately i discovered that the Steamer was magical for the synthetic entry carpet with the plastic ring accessory to clip around the mop. My weekly routine : 1st vaccum carpet with large carpet brush to remove all particles and get the fibers up, then mop with low heat level, no need to scrub, just go slowly other all the carpet area. (if it rained much that week or if we had friends over and things are muddy, i might go over the carpet with a second mop pad.)

One pointer: in addition to eye protection and maybe breathing protection hearing protection can be warranted. Some steam cleaners in confined spaces can be piercingly loud. I recommend ear plugs.

I had a few steamers in my life and no any had so fast start time, different modes of steaming and so important stops in an upright position. Blue painter's tape works well but green painter tape for rough surfaces sticks better and stays longer. We in remodel the house now and I learned a lot:) Another option is to mark the attachments to scratch the purpose with a sharp object. I know, it is a permanent solution but what I am going to do on my unit. Thank you again!

This steam mop is an EXCELLENT choice (paid link amzn.to/3g0INY3) because the garment steamer (shown in the thumbnail) is actually one of the best steaming tools I've ever used (hooked to a hose) rather than lifting the entire water holding unit for everything, (which on many units causes arm fatigue). And the mop itself can be used easily as a dry, or damp mop in addition to being a steam mop. There is SO MUCH utility from this one machine.

Amazing instruction! Whatever kitchen you use is exactly like mine: the counters (which are hard to tell when dirty or wet due to the design), the tile back splash (mine are chipping and need regrouting), the cabinets (ugh, I want to paint and replace pull handles but pricing is outrageous).
Woot Woot! We're twins we have the same kitchen. Before replacing the handles consider trading. We moved into a home with gold cabinet knobs but didn't want them because they didn't match anything (all our appliances were stainless steel). We put a "trade or barter" ad in Next Door and a family wanting to change theirs out swapped us straight out. We ended up buying six or seven more at the Home Depot after giving them ours and taking theirs, and we needed only a few more. (But buying them all new would have cost a few hundred dollars.) Recycling is better. The key is soaking them in warm dishwater and cleaning them up before trading. 😂
I purchased the Light & Easy Mop & used it today for the first time. I LOVE IT! My only question is should I also be using my string mop & wringer pail periodically?
You can if you like, but it's not necessary. With the Light 'N' Easy you can use it for dry, damp or steam mopping. The string mop can be retired if you like. I'm so glad you love it. Thanks for sharing this. 😍

This review was so fantastic I went ahead and purchased myself one. It finally arrived and the steamer would not work when trying to use it as a mop. Worked great with all the included attachments, but for some reason would not work when attached to the actual mop. Will be returning and getting a replacements in hopes it works.

Yesterday I used my ancient steam cleaner on my bathroom tiles and grout. It brings up the grout far more quickly than any other method I've tried (including hydrogen peroxide, which also works well if you don't have a steam cleaner). I do find that if I've left it too long between deep cleans a light scrub of the tiles with dish soap first makes the whole job much easier and more effective. A quick squeegee then a wipe with a dry cloth and it all looks like new.
Yes, good eye. Unfortunately, we've had some Premiere Pro (our video editing software) updates in the last day or two that did some wonky things to the audio track that threw the video out of sync. Tip idea: For your Velcro carpet protector, i would buy adhesive backed Velcro to put on it. That way you don't have to hold it as you carry the device.
If you are professionally cleaning a client's house, how many little bonnets (shown cleaning the countertops) would you bring? One for kitchen and one for EACH bathroom? Or one for kitchen and a single one to use on the bathrooms? Just want to minimize cross-contamination. Same question for the cloths used for floors if steam-mopping a whole house in a single day. Katherine, I love the questions but can't answer because I don't know the house(s) you plan to clean. I would for sure have a stash of extras because you will go through a bunch - especially if you use the steamer for a lot of the cleaning. Same applies to the floors. On an average home I go through about 6 floor pads. One for each bathroom, one for the kitchen, one for the common areas (hallway, stairs, entrance.)
This was so helpful! I’m in the market for a steam mop because I absolutely hate mopping, I have a small space and find it a challenge to store a mop and bucket, and I am also concerned about caring for our living environment, so I’m trying to reduce the chemicals I need to stay safe. It has been difficult choosing something that will have multiple functions, affordable and effective. Your video was so helpful! Can you use any microfiber towel with this (I have lots at home) it are there advantages to using the ones they have?
Hi Debbie, great question. I haven't used any other mop heads with it - just the quilted ones that come with the unit. I will say that at first before using it, I was curious how they would stay on, because my other steamer has elastic around the mop heads that hold them on. I was skeptical - but after using this one for a time or two, I decided I like the ease-of-use of this one. I wet the mop heads, drop them on the floor - velcro and mop. Peel off the mop pad and it goes in a soak bucket. BAM! Let me know if you get it and how you like it. NOTE: An employee ended up with the model shown here in the video and I missed it so much, I bought myself another one exactly like it.
So I bought it for shower. I had to keep switching hands because of angles and it tipped and I picked it up, not paying attention by the steam end and did NOT burn my hand and it was on high to scrub out mold in grout! It did an okay job with the Stone Tech product I let sit for 30 mins but not good enough. Again I did not even get burned. That is good on one HAND haha but on the other it is indication steam not very hot.

Your new steamer should be safe for the hardware. The key is to use the pinpoint nozzle rather than a brush because you don't want to scratch the faucets. Hi CJ, Thanks for watching and for the kind words. In many cases yes, this steamer might remove some mineral deposits on tile, but it may depend on the type of mineral. I can't say for sure without knowing more. There are so many ways to use a multi-purpose steamer like this that owning one would give you the chance to try it on all 3 settings and see for sure. In any event, you would have a tool that does a bunch of other things as well. If you get one, please keep me in the loop and let me know how it works for you in your situation. I'm curious as well.

Can you use Bissell cleaning solution in that machine or only the brand of cleaner that comes with the machine? Is that cleaning machine as good as a Bissell Crosswave multi-surface dual tank cleaning machine?
Great question. No cleaning solution is to be used in this machine at all. Only water. If you want to add a bit of soap to the mop pads, you could dip the mop pad in a bowl of water with a drop of castile soap. This would add the soapy water to the mop pad, without putting it in your machine. Does that make sense? 👍
Thank you for another great video. My biggest concern with a steam cleaner is cleaning the pads, because one-time use would be too expensive and wasteful. I cringe when I think about putting the pads in a washing machine that I use for clothes. Putting accessories in a dishwasher also makes me wince. Am I being too squeamish?
Yes too squeamish. We wear socks around the house touching the floors and then toss them in the washing machine without wincing, and we wipe our countertops with cloths and then toss those in the washing machine. If you're nervous about it, you can soak your steam or mop pads in a bowl of detergent that pulls out dirt before putting them in the wash. Hospitals (with all kinds of bodily fluids from patients, rewash hospital bedding and hospital gowns) Hotels with guests in varying levels of hygiene rewash their linens, bedding, and towels. Washing machines and dishwashers are designed for recycling laundry, mop pads, and steamer pads. Nothing to be scared of. 👍
It’s possible to make diy pads from shop towels and then discard them…it’s my one wasteful routine…pads can be made from old material like cotton shirts / sheets. Costco and others sell packs of different shop towels. If I do wash them then they stay in the garage for messes and to wrap around shop vac filter.
Like you, I couldn’t add in the washingmachine a quite dirty pad to any other laundry to be washed. And also, i can’t use only one/two pads to do my floors. I felt i was bringing the dirt further.. so, I bought extra pads, and now i can use one for each room. And i do a washmachine load with all pads. At first, i washed quite warm (60*c) to kill all germs, but it well killed the pads which schrinked. I bought new pads but now i wash 30*celcius select synthetic, add a prewash and 2 additionnal rinsings. I put the pads directly in the washmachine after a quick shaking over the garbage or the sink. I would not feel confortable with the mops washed into a meshbag because of all the little hairs and more i would find back into the bag. After wash, i let the pads dry flat on the bottom of the dryer/tancarville. I do that since many years now. I noticed that the average life of a mop is about one year. (sometimes i add a pinch of powder vanish oxi action into the liquid washsoap, but only in the prewash compartment) Anyone having other suggestions regarding washing those pads ?
YES! The handheld unit on the hose in the thumbnail picture is actually the garment steamer. Of course, if you're going to use it as a garment steamer, I recommend a different bonnet than the one used for cleaning the bathroom vanity. 😂😂😂
When it gets dirty you can replace it with another or hand wash the pad and put it back on. If you are using it for professional cleaning, I recommend you have several mop pads.
I have an old version and absolutely love it. Mine didn't como with all those attachments but still does a great job. I was looking for a video that shows how to descale the machine. Do you have one? Thank you.
+Marisol Mantei no. I haven’t made a video on that particular topic but the need to descale comes from tap water with sediment left in the machine. After steaming, dump the water out and plug the steamer back in. Steam until all the water is out of the machine. And leave the door open for the water holder to air dry. That should do the trick. If the steamer attachments are clogged, they can go in a mesh bag in the top shelf of the dishwasher on a hot cycle. That should clean the nozzles and attachments. 👍
I would like to know if this can clean walls. I live by a fairly busy road and, when the windows are open, dust from the road comes in. If it can, what tool(s) would you use?
While the Light 'N' Easy is a fantastic and versatile tool, is probably not the right tool for cleaning walls. The only flat surfaces you have are the floor plate and the handheld garment steamer that in this video I used for granite and upholstery. For cleaning walls we recommend the DocaPole (24 foot extender - amzn.to/39ymXYu) with a wall duster (paid link amzn.to/3Nfi1Xl) that can be used wet or dry and has a swivel head. This will allow you to reach the highest parts of the walls and go in a big z pattern as you clean and adjust the height of the pole as you need to for easier cleaning.
Could I use that steamer to clean around the bottom of my commode because I can't get down on the floor as low as you can; kind of hard to do while using a walking cane. Could I also use the handheld steamer to clean the inside of my refrigerator and or freezer?
Yes to all of the above. You can use the floor steamer to go around the commode and with the swivel head you should be able to turn it sideways and get it back by the pipes at the back of the commode. As for the fridge and freezer - it is not advisable to use it on plastic on the high setting so make sure if you are using it to clean out the fridge it's on low. If using it to defrost the freezer, make sure the freezer is unplugged so you are not blasting heat on coils still cooling. Does that make sense?
Do be careful using steam around the bottom of the toilet - don't linger with it. If it gets too hot, you could melt the wax ring and if that happens it could start leaking.

Steaming a carpet is slightly different from carpet cleaning in that you're not injecting detergents into the carpet or extracting any water out of the carpet. With steam you are simply lifting dirt and killing odors and bacteria. How you use it is much like mopping a floor, but you glide over vacuumed hallway or entry way rugs (think high traffic) to give those matted down areas a facelift.

Water only. Adding anything to it defeats the purpose of using a steam mop. Steam mops are not designed because of the tiny nozzles to process essential oils and heavier chemicals. Also, shooting cleaning chemical into a steam that you inhale can be hazardous to your sinuses or your respiratory system. Water will remove 99.99% of bacteria and germs. That is good enough for most situations.
This steam mop does have 3 settings, low, medium and high. The owners manual says "High-temperature Steam for Deep Cleaning." Most flooring doesn't require deep cleaning in all places or at all times. Which is why we show you other ways to use the mop with the damp and dry dust mopping. The rule of thumb is to never use more cleaning power than you need to do a job properly - and when in doubt about something like this, check with the flooring manufacturer to verify that using a steam mop won't void your flooring warranty. 👍
LOL. I don't have any idea. I'm in and out of 10 to 12 shows every day. It is Adobe Audition and not a product placement or sponsored visual - it just happened to be on the screen and I was not self-aware enough to remove it before turning the camera on while writing out the tape labels. Just thought of something!!! Window locks!!! What tool would you use to clean the window sashes(??) , where the upper and lower panes meet so one can lock the windows. That's another area where cleaning is impossible

On the bottom row the 3rd tool is called an angle concentrator tool. (I like to call it the pointing finger tool) but it has a pinhead nozzle that would be easy to use in those hard to reach areas.
I think about that every time I see someone steaming grout. I always wonder whether the grout is sealed (and the condition of the sealant). Grout is porous, and frequent or lengthy steaming of unsealed grout would force moisture to the substrate - and the next thing you know, you have mold *under* the tile/grout, and the tile's adhesive gives way and the grout starts falling out... Yikes.
Stupid question…..in the water reservoir, could you put a drop of Sal Suds or a small amount of cleaning vinegar or Bissell scented steam cleaner products in with the water too for extra cleaning power or no? Thank you for this review. I’ve been wanting to get a steamer/mop cleaner for several years but whenever I research I don’t like some of the reviews I read. I now know what to get for a housewarming gift for a young couple who just bought their first house and one for me.
Nothing but water goes in the tank. If you want to use Sal Suds you can but dilute a drop of it in a gallon of water and then dip your mop pad in it and then wring out your mop pad. This way no chemicals, soap or essential oils go through the tiny nozzle that produces steam. Steamers work magic all by themselves so adding extras is not necessary. The risk of putting stronger chemicals or oils in the steamer is that it clogs the nozzle because it's a different consistency from water. So doing so would void your warranty. Does that make sense?
Right?! Any time I can clean with little or no chemicals that is best. Save the heavy-duty chemicals for the heavy-duty cleaning and maintain the cleaning with steam. 👍
Technically yes, but I don't recommend it. Most cabinets are made of wood or pressed wood, and high heat and moisture is not recommended for those. There are no hard-fast rules about how you use the steamer. You can use any attachment on any surface you see appropriate. My only real recommendation is that you NOT use the wire steamer brush on anything but a barbecue grill.
I'm not a fan of consumer carpet steam cleaners and carpet shampooers. Carpet is really expensive and easy to mess up if too much moisture is added to the carpets. If not done properly, it can ruin the carpets or encourage mold, so I don't promote them for the most part. A professional carpet cleaner can do wonders for a carpet, and they have the proper tools (fans, extractors, chemicals, and insurance) to do the job properly. 👍
YES! The handheld unit on the hose in the thumbnail picture is actually the garment steamer. Of course, if you're going to use it as a garment steamer, I recommend a different bonnet than the one used for cleaning the bathroom vanity. 😂
Hey Angela, do you have any other model recommendations? It seems they no longer sell the one with all the attachments and all the microfiber pads are off brand and there's complaints they are too big and don't fit. I love your review of this and wanted to get it but not without the extra tools or pads. Thanks.
WHAT? It's true that most of the items sold here in the USA are more expensive in Canada, is that because of the currency exchange or is it the taxes? I know gasoline or petrol in Canada is far more per litre than here in the USA too. I'm going to have to make a whole new video. 😂

I thought I was going to hate these pads because they didn't wrap around the mop head like the Bissell steamer but I found I fell in love with the quick velcro option for fast pickups (dry and damp mopping). Theoretically, any mop pad with elastic or a drawstring around the edge that is the same size as the base of your plate will work with this steamer.
Like vacuums, steam mops have different features. The key is to decide how you plan on using a piece of equipment and then decide if it is right for you. Often the personal choice of one product comes down to the ergonomics. I like the Light 'N' Easy steam mop because of the hose that connects to the attachments rather than just the attachments connecting directly to the handheld steamer itself. It makes cleaning something like vanity, a shower door, or even cleaning grout easier because there is less arm fatigue than moving the entire handheld steamer with each movement. Does that make sense?
Great question. I wash them out by hand with some Dawn dish soap to get out any greasy, gunky stuff. Then I soak them in a gallon jug of water with some OxiClean until it's time to put them in the washing machine. The key is using a mild detergent.
After I saw this video I put the steamer in my Amazon wish list and my husband was happy to get me such a useful tool. I really really love this steam mop. I'm thinking about buying one for my mother in law!

Great question. I like it better in different ways. The ergonomics of the Light 'N' Easy are different than the Bissell. Early in this video I'm steaming a backsplash. The hand doing all the work is holding a small attachment hooked to a hose. The other hand is holding the handheld steamer. With the Bissell the hand doing all the work would be holding the handheld steamer which is bulkier for this task. If you re-watch this video and step by step compare it to the Bissell, you'll see that the ergonomics of Light 'N' Easy win almost every time. One thing for sure I like best about this steamer is that it stands upright when storing. With the Bissell it's too top heavy to stand while storing. As far as steams longer how do you mean? They will both keep steaming until they run out of water and/or are unplugged. Which steamer do you like best?

Yikes! Mold is a challenge. Steam cleaning can effectively kill mold spores on certain surfaces but is not a long-term solution. Do you have mold mitigation there? I'd have somebody come out and give you an estimate on the best ways to remove it.

I love using a steam mop to clean my ceramic tile floors. The steam picks up all kinds of crude and dirt that your old fashion mop leaves behind after the floor has dried - even after you think it's clean!
You'll notice the first time you use the steam mop on the tile floors that all this gunk is showing up and you need to remove it (with a paper towel or cloth) so it's not being pushed around by the steam mop. That is all the "stuff" left behind from all your prior "cleaning" of your floors with a conventional mop! Once you get all that old gunk off the floors the first time you use a steam mop you won't have that gunk showing up the next time you use the steam mop! It's awesome and this one Angela is demonstrating looks way better than the one's I've used in the past that come with NO attachments!
Hi Sally, thanks for sharing this. It's true, once the floors are clean you can do fast touch-ups. I have first introduced to steam mops about 7 or 8 years ago. For me, it was love at first sight. The string mops that used to be my favorite were quickly replaced by steam mops that could be used as dry, damp, or steam mops and I never looked back. Fantastic comprehensive and thorough product review. Many years ago my husband had trouble breathing and I had to remove all chemicals from my house. I depended solely on Steam cleaning. In addition to cleaning all the surfaces it took out all of the cooking odors Etc in your Fabrics that you did not even know we're there. The home was free of all odors making it feel fresh and clean.

A random comment in a blog post led me buy a steam cleaner over 6 years ago. It was a very inexpensive unit, but I was so impressed with how steam "eats" dirt ... and especially spots around sink, faucets, shower door, grout. That first unit lasted 3 years and when I went looking for a replacement went a bit overboard and bought a unit on wheels ... think rolling carry on size. My thought was rolling it around would be easy and it had a huge reservoir ... in practice, because it WAS large, it was a pain to get going and organized so I found myself not getting it out for smaller clean up. I recently bought a steam mop and a handheld steamer (both Bissell) which I like but I'm missing that hose/padded cleaner you show with the hand held. I pulled the trigger on the Light 'N' Easy :) I can use the Bissell hand held in my RV ... maybe the mop also.

@@AskAngelaBrown Just follow up. I have had the Light 'N" Easy to almost 2 weeks and I LOVE it. It is the perfect fit for me/my house/how I clean. I try to spend 15-30 minutes every morning on 1 room or 1 task (overall dust). My house is 1100 sq feet and I don't have much in the way of knick-knacks. Wood floors and my area rugs are sisal type indoor/outdoor. At any rate, I can do a quick floor wash/steam or dust, hit surfaces with the hand steamer, etc. Getting mop or hand unit out, filled and ready to go is 5 min. Another great video, Andrea Thank You. I use these steam mop cleaning systems since years and i didn’t know how to use the accessories...Your video gave me some ideas. Also, remember, i was not satisfied with just waccuming the entry carpet each week. Here it rains often. Mud and green stuff get into the carpet, so its shiny color toned grey and i was about garbaging it. But lately i discovered that the Steamer was magical for the synthetic entry carpet with the plastic ring accessory to clip around the mop.
My weekly routine : 1st vaccum carpet with large carpet brush to remove all particles and get the fibers up, then mop with low heat level, no need to scrub, just go slowly other all the carpet area. (if it rained much that week or if we had friends over and things are muddy, i might go over the carpet with a second mop pad.)

One pointer: in addition to eye protection and maybe breathing protection hearing protection can be warranted. Some steam cleaners in confined spaces can be piercingly loud. I recommend ear plugs.

I had a few steamers in my life and no any had so fast start time, different modes of steaming and so important stops in an upright position. Blue painter's tape works well but green painter tape for rough surfaces sticks better and stays longer. We in remodel the house now and I learned a lot:) Another option is to mark the attachments to scratch the purpose with a sharp object. I know, it is a permanent solution but what I am going to do on my unit. Thank you again!

This steam mop is an EXCELLENT choice (paid link amzn.to/3g0INY3) because the garment steamer (shown in the thumbnail) is actually one of the best steaming tools I've ever used (hooked to a hose) rather than lifting the entire water holding unit for everything, (which on many units causes arm fatigue). And the mop itself can be used easily as a dry, or damp mop in addition to being a steam mop. There is SO MUCH utility from this one machine.

Amazing instruction! Whatever kitchen you use is exactly like mine: the counters (which are hard to tell when dirty or wet due to the design), the tile back splash (mine are chipping and need regrouting), the cabinets (ugh, I want to paint and replace pull handles but pricing is outrageous).
Woot Woot! We're twins we have the same kitchen. Before replacing the handles consider trading. We moved into a home with gold cabinet knobs but didn't want them because they didn't match anything (all our appliances were stainless steel). We put a "trade or barter" ad in Next Door and a family wanting to change theirs out swapped us straight out. We ended up buying six or seven more at the Home Depot after giving them ours and taking theirs, and we needed only a few more. (But buying them all new would have cost a few hundred dollars.) Recycling is better. The key is soaking them in warm dishwater and cleaning them up before trading. 😂

You can if you like, but it's not necessary. With the Light 'N' Easy you can use it for dry, damp or steam mopping. The string mop can be retired if you like. I'm so glad you love it. Thanks for sharing this. 😍

This review was so fantastic I went ahead and purchased myself one. It finally arrived and the steamer would not work when trying to use it as a mop. Worked great with all the included attachments, but for some reason would not work when attached to the actual mop. Will be returning and getting a replacements in hopes it works.

Yesterday I used my ancient steam cleaner on my bathroom tiles and grout. It brings up the grout far more quickly than any other method I've tried (including hydrogen peroxide, which also works well if you don't have a steam cleaner). I do find that if I've left it too long between deep cleans a light scrub of the tiles with dish soap first makes the whole job much easier and more effective. A quick squeegee then a wipe with a dry cloth and it all looks like new.

If you are professionally cleaning a client's house, how many little bonnets (shown cleaning the countertops) would you bring? One for kitchen and one for EACH bathroom? Or one for kitchen and a single one to use on the bathrooms? Just want to minimize cross-contamination. Same question for the cloths used for floors if steam-mopping a whole house in a single day. Katherine, I love the questions but can't answer because I don't know the house(s) you plan to clean. I would for sure have a stash of extras because you will go through a bunch - especially if you use the steamer for a lot of the cleaning. Same applies to the floors. On an average home I go through about 6 floor pads. One for each bathroom, one for the kitchen, one for the common areas (hallway, stairs, entrance.)

I’m in the market for a steam mop because I absolutely hate mopping, I have a small space and find it a challenge to store a mop and bucket, and I am also concerned about caring for our living environment, so I’m trying to reduce the chemicals I need to stay safe. Can you use any microfiber towel with this (I have lots at home) it are there advantages to using the ones they have?
Hi Debbie, great question. I haven't used any other mop heads with it - just the quilted ones that come with the unit. I will say that at first before using it, I was curious how they would stay on, because my other steamer has elastic around the mop heads that hold them on. I was skeptical - but after using this one for a time or two, I decided I like the ease-of-use of this one. I wet the mop heads, drop them on the floor - velcro and mop. Peel off the mop pad and it goes in a soak bucket. BAM! Let me know if you get it and how you like it.
NOTE: An employee ended up with the model shown here in the video and I missed it so much, I bought myself another one exactly like it.
So I bought it for shower. I had to keep switching hands because of angles and it tipped and I picked it up, not paying attention by the steam end and did NOT burn my hand and it was on high to scrub out mold in grout! It did an okay job with the Stone Tech product I let sit for 30 mins but not good enough. Again I did not even get burned. That is good on one HAND haha but on the other it is indication steam not very hot.

Your new steamer should be safe for the hardware. The key is to use the pinpoint nozzle rather than a brush because you don't want to scratch the faucets. Would this take off any mineral deposits on bathroom tile? I have been wanting a steam cleaner for quite some time but have seen more negatives than I am comfortable with. Thank you for the nice review!
Hi CJ, Thanks for watching and for the kind words. In many cases yes, this steamer might remove some mineral deposits on tile, but it may depend on the type of mineral. I can't say for sure without knowing more. There are so many ways to use a multi-purpose steamer like this that owning one would give you the chance to try it on all 3 settings and see for sure. In any event, you would have a tool that does a bunch of other things as well. If you get one, please keep me in the loop and let me know how it works for you in your situation. I'm curious as well.

Can you use Bissell cleaning solution in that machine or only the brand of cleaner that comes with the machine? Is that cleaning machine as good as a Bissell Crosswave multi-surface dual tank cleaning machine?
Great question. No cleaning solution is to be used in this machine at all. Only water. If you want to add a bit of soap to the mop pads, you could dip the mop pad in a bowl of water with a drop of castile soap. This would add the soapy water to the mop pad, without putting it in your machine. Does that make sense? 👍

My biggest concern with a steam cleaner is cleaning the pads, because one-time use would be too expensive and wasteful. I cringe when I think about putting the pads in a washing machine that I use for clothes. Putting accessories in a dishwasher also makes me wince.
Am I being too squeamish?
Yes too squeamish. We wear socks around the house touching the floors and then toss them in the washing machine without wincing, and we wipe our countertops with cloths and then toss those in the washing machine. If you're nervous about it, you can soak your steam or mop pads in a bowl of detergent that pulls out dirt before putting them in the wash. Hospitals (with all kinds of bodily fluids from patients, rewash hospital bedding and hospital gowns) Hotels with guests in varying levels of hygiene rewash their linens, bedding, and towels. Washing machines and dishwashers are designed for recycling laundry, mop pads, and steamer pads. Nothing to be scared of. 👍
Run them in a separate load; extravagant but it makes me feel better. High efficiency washers do not use tat much water anyway
It’s possible to make diy pads from shop towels and then discard them…it’s my one wasteful routine…pads can be made from old material like cotton shirts / sheets. Costco and others sell packs of different shop towels. If I do wash them then they stay in the garage for messes and to wrap around shop vac filter.
I wash them in a bucket and leave them to sun dry.
Like you, I couldn’t add in the washingmachine a quite dirty pad to any other laundry to be washed. And also, i can’t use only one/two pads to do my floors. I felt i was bringing the dirt further.. so, I bought extra pads, and now i can use one for each room. And i do a washmachine load with all pads. At first, i washed quite warm (60*c) to kill all germs, but it well killed the pads which schrinked. I bought new pads but now i wash 30*celcius select synthetic, add a prewash and 2 additionnal rinsings. I put the pads directly in the washmachine after a quick shaking over the garbage or the sink. I would not feel confortable with the mops washed into a meshbag because of all the little hairs and more i would find back into the bag. After wash, i let the pads dry flat on the bottom of the dryer/tancarville. I do that since many years now. I noticed that the average life of a mop is about one year. (sometimes i add a pinch of powder vanish oxi action into the liquid washsoap, but only in the prewash compartment)
Anyone having other suggestions regarding washing those pads ?

When it gets dirty you can replace it with another or hand wash the pad and put it back on. If you are using it for professional cleaning, I recommend you have several mop pads.

+Marisol Mantei no. I haven’t made a video on that particular topic but the need to descale comes from tap water with sediment left in the machine. After steaming, dump the water out and plug the steamer back in. Steam until all the water is out of the machine. And leave the door open for the water holder to air dry. That should do the trick.
If the steamer attachments are clogged, they can go in a mesh bag in the top shelf of the dishwasher on a hot cycle. That should clean the nozzles and attachments. 👍

I would like to know if this can clean walls. I live by a fairly busy road and, when the windows are open, dust from the road comes in. If it can, what tool(s) would you use?
While the Light 'N' Easy is a fantastic and versatile tool, is probably not the right tool for cleaning walls. The only flat surfaces you have are the floor plate and the handheld garment steamer that in this video I used for granite and upholstery. For cleaning walls we recommend the DocaPole (24 foot extender - amzn.to/39ymXYu) with a wall duster (paid link amzn.to/3Nfi1Xl) that can be used wet or dry and has a swivel head. This will allow you to reach the highest parts of the walls and go in a big z pattern as you clean and adjust the height of the pole as you need to for easier cleaning.

Could I use that steamer to clean around the bottom of my commode because I can't get down on the floor as low as you can; kind of hard to do while using a walking cane. Could I also use the handheld steamer to clean the inside of my refrigerator and or freezer?
Yes to all of the above. You can use the floor steamer to go around the commode and with the swivel head you should be able to turn it sideways and get it back by the pipes at the back of the commode.
As for the fridge and freezer - it is not advisable to use it on plastic on the high setting so make sure if you are using it to clean out the fridge it's on low.
If using it to defrost the freezer, make sure the freezer is unplugged so you are not blasting heat on coils still cooling. Does that make sense?
Do be careful using steam around the bottom of the toilet - don't linger with it. If it gets too hot, you could melt the wax ring and if that happens it could start leaking.

Steaming a carpet is slightly different from carpet cleaning in that you're not injecting detergents into the carpet or extracting any water out of the carpet. With steam you are simply lifting dirt and killing odors and bacteria. How you use it is much like mopping a floor, but you glide over vacuumed hallway or entry way rugs (think high traffic) to give those matted down areas a facelift.
Can you use the fabric bonnet on like a leather sofa?

Water only. Adding anything to it defeats the purpose of using a steam mop. Steam mops are not designed because of the tiny nozzles to process essential oils and heavier chemicals. Also, shooting cleaning chemical into a steam that you inhale can be hazardous to your sinuses or your respiratory system. Water will remove 99.99% of bacteria and germs. That is good enough for most situations.

Is this steam mop safe for engineered bamboo floors?
This steam mop does have 3 settings, low, medium and high. The owners manual says "High-temperature Steam for Deep Cleaning." Most flooring doesn't require deep cleaning in all places or at all times. Which is why we show you other ways to use the mop with the damp and dry dust mopping. The rule of thumb is to never use more cleaning power than you need to do a job properly - and when in doubt about something like this, check with the flooring manufacturer to verify that using a steam mop won't void your flooring warranty. 👍

LOL. I don't have any idea. I'm in and out of 10 to 12 shows every day. It is Adobe Audition and not a product placement or sponsored visual - it just happened to be on the screen and I was not self-aware enough to remove it before turning the camera on while writing out the tape labels. Just thought of something!!! Window locks!!! What tool would you use to clean the window sashes(??) , where the upper and lower panes meet so one can lock the windows. That's another area where cleaning is impossible

I think about that every time I see someone steaming grout. I always wonder whether the grout is sealed (and the condition of the sealant). Grout is porous, and frequent or lengthy steaming of unsealed grout would force moisture to the substrate - and the next thing you know, you have mold *under* the tile/grout, and the tile's adhesive gives way and the grout starts falling out... Yikes.
Stupid question…..in the water reservoir, could you put a drop of Sal Suds or a small amount of cleaning vinegar or Bissell scented steam cleaner products in with the water too for extra cleaning power or no? I now know what to get for a housewarming gift for a young couple who just bought their first house and one for me.
Nothing but water goes in the tank. If you want to use Sal Suds you can but dilute a drop of it in a gallon of water and then dip your mop pad in it and then wring out your mop pad. This way no chemicals, soap or essential oils go through the tiny nozzle that produces steam. Steamers work magic all by themselves so adding extras is not necessary. The risk of putting stronger chemicals or oils in the steamer is that it clogs the nozzle because it's a different consistency from water. So doing so would void your warranty. Does that make sense?

Could you use this in kitchen to clean greasy cabinets?
Technically yes, but I don't recommend it. Most cabinets are made of wood or pressed wood, and high heat and moisture is not recommended for those. There are no hard-fast rules about how you use the steamer. You can use any attachment on any surface you see appropriate. My only real recommendation is that you NOT use the wire steamer brush on anything but a barbecue grill.
I can't seem to find any videos about steam cleaners for carpets. Do you use them? Do you have any recommendations?
I'm not a fan of consumer carpet steam cleaners and carpet shampooers. Carpet is really expensive and easy to mess up if too much moisture is added to the carpets. If not done properly, it can ruin the carpets or encourage mold, so I don't promote them for the most part. A professional carpet cleaner can do wonders for a carpet, and they have the proper tools (fans, extractors, chemicals, and insurance) to do the job properly. 👍

Hi angela, will the bissell mop pads fit this steamer? If not, Do you recommend the shoe box method for these velcro pads?
I thought I was going to hate these pads because they didn't wrap around the mop head like the Bissell steamer but I found I fell in love with the quick velcro option for fast pickups (dry and damp mopping). Theoretically, any mop pad with elastic or a drawstring around the edge that is the same size as the base of your plate will work with this steamer.
How does this steam mop compare to the bissell stream mop that you have? Which one, in your opinion, is better?
Like vacuums, steam mops have different features. The key is to decide how you plan on using a piece of equipment and then decide if it is right for you. Often the personal choice of one product comes down to the ergonomics. I like the Light 'N' Easy steam mop because of the hose that connects to the attachments rather than just the attachments connecting directly to the handheld steamer itself. It makes cleaning something like vanity, a shower door, or even cleaning grout easier because there is less arm fatigue than moving the entire handheld steamer with each movement. Does that make sense?

How do you clean the mop pads? If you use them on sticky waxy stuff and all types of gunk, what would you use to get it off the pads and bonnet?
Great question. I wash them out by hand with some Dawn dish soap to get out any greasy, gunky stuff. Then I soak them in a gallon jug of water with some OxiClean until it's time to put them in the washing machine. The key is using a mild detergent.

Is this safe on painted walls?
I didn't try it on painted walls and I wouldn't recommend it. Sometimes using steam on painted surfaces can warp or peel off the paint.

Great question. I like it better in different ways. The ergonomics of the Light 'N' Easy are different than the Bissell. Early in this video I'm steaming a backsplash. The hand doing all the work is holding a small attachment hooked to a hose. The other hand is holding the handheld steamer. With the Bissell the hand doing all the work would be holding the handheld steamer which is bulkier for this task. If you re-watch this video and step by step compare it to the Bissell, you'll see that the ergonomics of Light 'N' Easy win almost every time. One thing for sure I like best about this steamer is that it stands upright when storing. With the Bissell it's too top heavy to stand while storing. As far as steams longer how do you mean?
They will both keep steaming until they run out of water and/or are unplugged.

Yikes! Mold is a challenge. Steam cleaning can effectively kill mold spores on certain surfaces but is not a long-term solution. Do you have mold mitigation there? I'd have somebody come out and give you an estimate on the best ways to remove it.
