    I also remember all these cards. Every school holiday I worked so I could upgrade my GPU. Started with Radeon 7000, 9200SE, 9600Pro, HD3650, then 2x Nvidia 560ti's, then back to 2x AMD 480's, but running 580 BIOS on both. Nice heater in winter running both together!

      @@KevlarkKevlarich damn straight! GameCube games like Fzero and Rouge Squadron were in a league of their own back then, especially Rouge Squadron since that game was a launch title! In fact those GameCube games still look amazing in December of 2019.
      GameCube game graphics have gracefully indeard the test of time, and in fact many GameCube game visuals are still a treat to behold.
      That's something you can't really say of most PS2 games or Xbox games.

    I've been a long time ATI fan. Ever since I was little, my computers had ATI graphics cards and I loved them. My 15 years old computer (I got it from a second hand shop, so it had a couple of years of life already when I bought it), with CPU Intel Pentium III 700MHz and graphics card ATI Radeon from the 7000 series. I received ATI Radeon 9000 series from my mother, because she had no use for it. It served me well for over 12 years without decrease in performance. The PC survived four power sources, multiple keyboards and three mice. But the core of the computer worked without problems... When first problems came, they came from the hard drives.
    When I build myself a new computer, I'll go for AMD graphics card. Not sure if radeon yet (since there is also fire series I know nothing about yet), but it will surely be AMD.

    • @KevlarkKevlarich
      @KevlarkKevlarich  6 лет назад +2

      Unfortunately 7970 was the last successful card, later not very successful models.
      Nvidia suffered from poor contact with the GPU, from 8800 to gtx780, in AMD, this problem is much less.

    • @poryg5350
      @poryg5350 6 лет назад

      AMD has worse support and troubles with graphics rendering in certain aspects, so no wonder it isn't as successful as it could be. On the other hand it's cheaper and full AMD builds are still great, at least for users that don't have top notch demands.

    8500 was my first ever 'real" GPU. i went to a X800 for the first comptuer i ever built (15 years old). it was a vivo edition and i flashed it to an XTPE and added arctic cooling heatsink. i then went to X1800 (need for speed most wanted was my game back then). upgraded to 2900XT and was DEEP into WoW:BC. 3870X2 and i dropped it for an 8600Geforce due to terrible performance (MSI cards were shit). then got a 5870 in my i7 built and upgraded to a 7970 after that. from there i was nvidia - 1060 and now 3080.
