  • Dance Dance Revolution is an Arcade Game, I am a person who hates going to the gym. I promised myself that I would get in shape and change my life. The only exercise I enjoy doing is playing an Arcade Dancing Game... surrounded by strangers.... yeah haha

Music = dopamine. Exercise = dopamine. Flashing lights, bright colors, and seeing high scores = dopamine. Dance games are truly a fun and addicting workout. Love the content.

4:37 Fun fact: Back in the day, "perfect" timing *was* the best timing you could get in regular play. "Marvelous" timing was introduced in Extreme, and was only available in courses. It wouldn't be available during regular play for several years until Supernova 2. Also during this time, "good" timings broke combo, and "bad" timing existed between "good" and missing outright.
I wish you luck on your journey! I can't tell for sure if I've really lost weight on mine (I think I'll need to diet for that), but now that I'm playing more regularly again my stamina and timing has got noticeably better over just this summer.

I remember the days where AAA meant no greats and jumps added 2 to your combo aha everything is so different now. I had to take a break from DDR for a WHILE but now I am back to it and continuing my Journey 💪🏼😎

This is amazing, I'm 30 years old and DDR is so nostalgic to me, my first boyfriend was so good at DDR. He got me into it, we were always skinny, but I always saw skinny people into it. I hope you are still keeping it up and have reached your goals.
My husband and I just bought a couple cheap mats, to play at home. They were never the best way to play but, if we keep playing daily we'll buy one of those Ltek ones. I'm going to check your channel out and see if you kept it up and if so I'll subscribe for my love of DDR!

I am 32 years old! I grew up playing DDR because my family and friends always had it on playstation and we always had so much fun! I quit playing from like around age 20 till last year. Had to take an emergency trip to NJ which caused me to stop for a few months but ever since I got back to FL I've been keeping up with it! Definitely recommend an LTEK if you can get one! I just got one recently and plan on doing a full review :)

This video is an absolute inspiration to me. I'm in a very similar boat to you. 285 pounds which is the heaviest I've ever been, pushing 30 years old, and worried about heart disease and diabetes which runs on both sides of my family. I used to play DDR a ton back when I was in my teens, and I am going to join you on this journey. Best of luck to you as you continue on your journey, and I hope I can achieve my goals too. :)

First of all I am so glad to hear this. I am already down several pounds with my final "goal" being around 230 (will evaluate from there if I should still be losing weight or just maintaining that weight)
I've heard so many horror stories of people having health issues in their early 30's because of being overweight and living unhealthy lifestyles. Lets me and you both NOT be part of that group lets be Healthy for our friends, family, and most importantly ourselves.
I played a TON of DDR/ITG2 when I was younger and was able to stay fit. I quit for so many years but I say let's both get back to it and STAY fit this time. I'm looking into getting a Metal Dance Pad for my Garage so I can be sure to play at least 2 times a week after I lose a lot of weight. (just need to save up some money LOL)
Good luck on your journey! I hope you stay up to date with my channel to see my progress and that it'll keep motivating you to keep doing what you're doing and ACHIEVE YOUR GOALS!
Please keep me updated with your progress whenever you can because believe it or not sometimes I need some motivation as well 😄

Nice to see people actually playing this game for the exercise component. I feel like that went to the wayside once social media became big and everyone in the DDR community became obsessive over scores. I use DDR as an alternative to the treadmill, and I've found that doubles is a much better workout than singles. I would definitely give doubles a try if you haven't already.

    • @DietDietRevolution
      @DietDietRevolution  7 месяцев назад +2

I really and truthfully only play DDR for the Exercise Component and for how fun it is. I don't know if I'll ever be good enough to compete for scores but that was never a big thing to me anyways.

@@DietDietRevolution Playing marathons on at least Standard or Heavy is where it's at. I'm considering learning doubles at some point. The one arcade in the area that actually has their cabinets set to free play and charges by the hour instead of per play, so there is no risk if I flub up repeatedly.

I'm 52 and I stopped playing DDR about a decade or so ago, but I've been getting a huge itch to start playing again lately. But arcade play is pretty much a non-option for me at the moment due to a lot of reasons. The biggest ones are lack of time and the almost absolute lack of working cabs near me. There are no Round 1 locations in Puerto Rico. There are two D&B's, and none of them have DDR (one of them has a PIU Prime 2017 if I'm not mistaken but that's about it). That leaves one DDR Extreme that is miraculously still in good working order, about an hour drive away, IF traffic's good; and I think there's a hacked SN cab running Ace at another place a bit closer. Home play looks like the best option, but that of course depends on me being able to acquire a decent pad and making the space for a Stepmania setup.
P.S. I freaking LOVE Kakumei! Greatest DDR song of all time.

My biggest issue (especially because i’m doing this for weight loss) was lack of time to go to the arcade consistently. Some weeks I went multiple times during that week and than I wouldn’t be able to go for a month.
I purchased an LTEK, Monitor and Sound Bar and hooked that all up to my laptop and it’s been the best experience ever honestly I couldn’t recommend it enough. Having not only official DDR charts to play but also custom charts that I create and others charts it’s been a blast.
I am supposed to do a full review of my LTEK dance pad but I just been short on time to do anything (my day consists of work, family, grocery/food shopping, editing videos as a side business, working out, spending time with my family with activities like watching a movie or playing a board game… yeah I have no idea how I was fitting in a visit to the arcade into my life aha

I have a huge amount of respect for you if you get back into DDR being over 50. Very rarely do we see someone over 35, even past 40 years old playing. I'm 35 and i still DDR, though not as good as before. Sometimes it gets quite discouraging playing when you're older but of course I don't let age or any other condition take it away

I actually had a similar experience growing up
After getting diagnosed with asthma and spending a week (I think) laying in a hospital bed I started to become fat idk how much time passed but my parents bought me the kinect for Christmas, I ended up playing it so much I became very fit
I think I was around 10 years old at the time, now I’m 25 and I’m trying to repeat what I did then

@@brushed5252 Rhythm Games in my experience are a lot better option for people like us who understand how they work and how to get the best of ourselves out while playing them. I tried getting gym membership multiple times thinking “this time i’m gonna stick to it” only to go for a few weeks tops and then lose interest or straight up stop going and give up.
DDR I remember being so fun, so social, so much more fun than going to the gym… I thought ok this is it i’m gonna try DDR again and after not playing for 10+ years it wasn’t easy but i’m definitely doing great now (last video I cleared a song/chart/level that I didn’t think was possible)
If you’re going to be giving rhythm games a shot again to lose weight I wish nothing but the best of luck for you and hope you achieve your goals! I recently checked my scale and i’ve officially lost 30 pounds :)

Dude, I can't even imagine being able to move my body fast enough to hit any of the notes in that last song. How do you even process what's going on? Well done for getting half way through! Even if you could have done it when you were 15 and not now, you still must be so fit and have such a high reaction speed and level of balance these days. I know there are people who can pull off far more insane things, but I still think what you did was super impressive. I'm a DDR beginner (well, stepmania) and I've been playing for a couple months, on and off. I can do easier 5s now and maybe I've done a few super easy 6s. I can see how I will improve, but, to the point where I can do 10s and above?? How???

    • @DietDietRevolution
      @DietDietRevolution  5 месяцев назад +2

The way I process it is pretty much practice practice practice. When I first started playing I could barely pass beginner/basic but as time went by (and of course having a love/passion for Techno/Dance/EDM and rhythm games) I eventually got better and better. The way I learned how to play DDR was kind of unorthodox tho I grew up playing it with a PlayStation Controller using my fingers... not a Dance Pad LMAO but any way you could learn to understand the basics (even keyboard arrows could help you learn)
Once you have an understanding of the game (please DO NOT USE WEIRD NOTE SKINS! Use something that shows RED/YELLOW/BLUE/GREEN/PURPLE SO YOU COULD UNDERSTAND TIMING LMAO some people use like glittery rainbow style arrows that doesn't show the timing which is NOT what you want when learning this game lmao

@@DietDietRevolution I might be a touch late to this but if you're still curious then here's a quick rundown:
The up arrows are to go back, the down arrows are to navigate left and right, and the center panel is to select.
To change note speed you can do this:
Increase note speed: upright, upleft, upright, upleft, center
Decrease note speed: upleft, upright, upleft, upright, center
To unlock full mode (which allows you to access way more settings and songs), you do this in the song selection menu:
Full mode unlock: downleft, upleft, center, upright, downright, upright, center, upleft, downleft.
This motion looks like you're tracing an "M", one way then going backwards.
If done correctly, the game says "Full mode" and the color scheme will be very different.
If you are in full mode, you can this to access more settings:
downleft, downright, downleft, downright, downleft, downright.
In these settings you can set auto velocity, which basically locks the note speed at any bpm you want (for example 450 auto velocity = 1.5x note speed on a 300bpm song).
There are also a bunch of other settings, but you don't need to worry about those really.
