probably going to start posting sessions while I'm working on my transition skating. In case anyone else can relate and/or has any tips. #skateboarding
i feel you bro. Turning 37 next month and i just started out 4 months ago. I wish i had skated in my youth but i missed out on that one. I think youre doing great on transition.
Thanks I appreciate that! That’s so cool you decided to start at 37. In the beginning, it’s all about spending time on the board, be patient and enjoy the process! You got this
@frontsidehealth I had to change my approach to relearning being bigger, slower, and not nearly as limber. Despite all that, it's totally awesome being an old head skater.
@@splatterbrain3788 agreed! there's a ramp near me that is only about 3-4 feet but it seems huge...so I'm taking my time on these smaller ramps until my confidence is consistent ...but yes, love being in the old bones division
You're not just doing good, dude; you're skating smart! I'm 46 & only skated street growing up! I've been skating again for the past 3-4yrs & only transition for the past 1yr & a half. Busted my knee up bad on a mini ramp, & to be honest I still can't get the hang of rock to fakies that well, freaking terrifying! Doing axle stall & rocks on the flat 1/4 is super smart, because that same skill & muscle memory will make it on real coping easier! Your kickflips & ollies are good. Transistion is nowhere near as easy, as people think it is & those slams HURT, still I keep skating, because no matter what your skill level is, skating just feels amazing.
@@8ByteBrian hell yeh man, totally agree. Learning transition is like relearning to skate! With rock fakie (like many other transition tricks) I’m definitely keeping most of my weight inside the ramp. I’ve also noticed recently that “decking “ the rock makes it easier when I used to think it would be harder , just in case that helps!

I stopped at 17, picked it back up at 43. Falls hit different.
Similar- I skated for like 2 years when I was 12-13, then started again around 30…agreed, the ground is much less forgiving !
