Nice Reaction! . . . Ask your mom or aunt about this song if they knew it. I bet they would say "yes". This was a hit in the 90s and this is always being played on the radio and most ladies knew this song. . . Thanks for your reaction. 😊

A very superwoman reaction 🦸🏾‍♀! I see 👁👁 that you have reacted to Karyn White before: The Way You Love Me. Superwoman was released as the second single from Karyn White's 1988 album: Karyn White. It was written and produced by LA Reid, Babyface and Daryl Simmons. The song reached #1 on the R&B chart, #8 on the Hot 100 and #12 on the Adult Contemporary chart. It also earned a Gold certification from the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA). The music video was directed by Bruce Logan. This song is an extra slow jammy jam classic that makes you feel the lyrics!
Daryl Simmons recalled the story of this song to Songwriter Universe: "When we met with Karyn, we talked with her about her relationships with her boyfriends. We would always meet with people and see what was going on with their lives, so we could pick something from them or their personality. So then we said, 'Okay', and we came up with 'Superwoman.' But a lot of people get [the meaning of the lyric] wrong. It's 'I'm NOT your Superwoman. I'm NOT the kind of girl that you can let down, and think that everything's okay.' [It means]…You can't just keep on disappointing me and think that I'm okay with it".
In a 2012 Soul Tracks interview, Karyn White was asked about the song's impact on her career. She replied: "That was my blessing. I had nothing to do with it. It's something that L.A. & Face saw in me. They could've given that song to anybody. Everybody wanted to work with them at that time. So, for them to see in me that strength and that I could really carry that song was brilliant. Besides, Babyface is one of the most prolific writers of the century. For him to have that sensibility of what a woman really feels, he just gets it. And L.A. really worked with me vocally. He had to really get me upset. We spent a lot of time on that vocal, because I was too young. I hadn't lived life for real to know all that stuff. I wasn't married, didn't have kids. My focus was all on making it. A 'Superwoman' is a person who endures all of that and rises above it. So, today when I sing it, I kill it!".

Karyn White was born on October 14, 1965 in Los Angeles, California. She is a singer, songwriter, producer and actress. Karyn White gained experience growing up singing in her church choir and also in local talent shows and beauty pageants. She sang with local band Legacy and then toured with R&B vocalist O'Bryan in 1984. A lead vocal on instrumentalist Jeff Lorber's song: "Facts Of Life", led to a recording contract with Warner Bros Records. Karyn White is best known for her R&B singles: "Superwoman", "Secret Rendezvous", "The Way You Love Me", and the Billboard Hot 100 number one single: "Romantic". She became the first female artist to have her first three solo releases hit #1 on the R&B chart.
Her self-titled debut album: Karyn White, was released in 1988. It was produced by LA Reid and Babyface and achieved Platinum status in America. The album contained the Hot 100 hit singles "The Way You Love Me", "Secret Rendezvous" and "Superwoman", as well as the No. 1 R&B hit song: "Love Saw It", a duet with Babyface himself. Karyn White was nominated in the Best R&B/Urban Contemporary New Artist category for the 1989 Soul Train Music Awards, which was won by Al B Sure. She also received nominations for two Grammy Awards. She became the first female artist to have the first three solo releases from their debut album hit #1 on the R&B charts.
Her follow-up album was: Ritual Of Love, released in 1991. It had songs produced by Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis and featured the hit single: "Romantic", which hit number one on the Billboard Hot 100. Other singles from the album included the songs: "The Way I Feel About You" (U.S. #12), "Walkin' The Dog" and "Do Unto Me", the last two singles did not chart.
Her next album released in 1994 was called: Make Him Do Right. The album did not sell well, although she did chart with the singles: "Hungah" (#18 R&B)and the Babyface-penned "Can I Stay With You" (#10 R&B), which became her final R&B Top 10 hit song in early 1995. Another album single: "I'd Rather Be Alone", her last chart single to date, peaked at #50 on the R&B chart later that same year. In 1995, Karyn White appeared with Mary J Blige, Monica and others for the single: "Freedom (Theme From Panther)" , for the movie soundtrack to the Melvin Van Peebles film of the same name.

Two songs: "All I Do" and "Disconnected", were later released on her 2007 compilation album: "Superwoman: The Best Of Karyn White". She was also slated to appear on the Soul Train Music Awards in 2009 as a tribute to Babyface Edmonds. However, this performance was canceled when Babyface and LA Reid withdrew from the Soul Train ceremony, declining the honor. In 2011, she was slated to have shot a television pilot for a reality series with R&B singers Shanice Wilson and Debelah Morgan.
Karyn White released her first album after a seventeen-year break called: Carpe Diem, in March 2012. The album featured the singles: "Sista, Sista" and "Unbreakable," both of which received music videos. She was hot for a minute, but she came for the queen of the charts at the time, and karma caught up. I love this song tho. Please consider giving a listen to Heather Headley and her song “I Wish I Wasn’t “.
