"INTPS are supposed to be like 1 to 2% of the population and yet your'e like 40% of the internet. Whats up with that?"
    I love that!
That's what I think every time I'm on an INTP forum. I do think I'm the only INTP I know personally.

The internet just happens to be the most common public place that we congregate because of the lack of direct communication. We most effectively communicate our ideas through writing because of our Ti function. We are not quick on our feet, so internet forums allow us to more accurately structure our thoughts that we would be able to in a formal debate. Nice vid. ;)

I'm an INFP girl and I disagree with all those people saying that INTPs and other Thinking types can't be into art as INFPs can't be into as science (okay, personally, I'm not into science but I know some other INFPs are and I have this INTP friend who really likes shows like Glee). It seems like the ultimate "categorization" of people even worse than the 16 personality types themselves. Like we're putting labels on people and putting them into boxes.

I am an INTP, and I have taken the test many times (took it today) in the past few years to make sure I wasn't being (consciously or unconsciously) dishonest about my answers. I have also taken the test twice in a row, the second time to change only those answers I felt unsure about. Every time, the result is INTP! Yet, I have always been an artist. I love novelty, which shows in the variation of my artwork style, and I am also very disorganized. I felt like you were describing me.

I think myer-briggs is fun. Though I don't put too much faith into it, I think of it as classifying personality, not into a mold, but into a dart board. The board is split into 16 boxes and we land somewhere in one of those boxes which best represents us, the lines could have been drawn another way, but it is the classification that makes us our Letters. I'm an ENTP guy by the way. Ne and Ti dominance Ftw! =) haha jk.

I am also an INTP musician, and I laughed out loud when you got to the "Gosh, I wish there was something I could do about that." because I almost always do that. I practically never clean unless someone else asks me to. My little sister is an INFP (by my analysis) and while we're both artsy, our way of presenting ourselves and our ideas is pretty different at times. I seek technical perfection and external harmony, where she seeks perfection in her personal expression and external consistency.

Definitely INTP. People with a Ti function say a lot of "uhmmm". This happens when they think, or bounce into their internal world to get logic, and bring it to the external world through their extrovert function (Ne in the case of INTP).

Very cool. As an INFP, the cleanliness is very true. I'm not sure if it's just me - but atmosphere is extremely important to me. My home is my sanctuary. If there's a mess that breaks up the peaceful home, I can't function. I can't create, or think beyond restoring the atmosphere back to its place. I wouldn't say I'm not lazy because of this...I tend to put things away immediately after use so it doesn't build more messes and therefore I have to clean less often. That kind of makes me lazy in a

I just took the test and came out to be an ISTJ. I wiki'd the MBTI and realized that ISTJ's, at least according to wiki, account for roughly 11-14% of the US population, while INTP's account for only 1-3%. I INSTANTLY became jealous and felt less individualistic and special about myself. Which just further supports that I'm an ISTJ. Damn...

  • @alexorjustlex
    @alexorjustlex 11 лет назад +21

Hmmm, I think the point you mention at the very beginning depend on the INTP's ability to project themselves as an extrovert. My mum's INFP and I'm INTP, and she is way more awkward than me, I'm much better at making others feel comfortable. I'm also funnier, in a cynical-sarcastic way.

    (2) Attempting to pigeonhole something that complex is simply a moot endeavor, thus I invite people to appreciate the beauty of gray. Systematic personality paradigms inherently render aphoristic summations and over-extrapolations which offer virtually no practical insight into one's personality, or amicable relationships.

    i'm an INFP boy!
but i'd say i have tendencies of the intp's tho-i'm awk. lol.
and my discipline is in the sciences-whoops.
INFP's are very idealistic. i think that's what u mean by "specialized".
we have very, VERY strong convictions about what we're about.
    INFP'S-messy. yes. dirty-NO !
it can be a controlled chaos, but not filth. no.
also each letter is a gradient. like w/ me i'm heavy P, but just over the boarder in I.
yes-we are academics mostly, nerds. i'm in linguistics.

Ive noticed he is a stickler for spelling and words and technical stuff like that while I could care less as long as I know what your talking about haha. Ive also noticed when talking to different people in general and I say the wrong thing or word they correct me and usually when people do that when talking to me I dont correct them if I know what they meant. My friend and I have awesome and deep conversations which is hard to have as a infp guy

She's talking about the 'Mysers-Briggs Type Indicator' personality test, she briefly mentions it at the end. INTP stands for Introverted iNtuitive Thinking Perceiving. INFP stands for Introverted iNtuitive Feeling Perceiving. She's basically talking about the differences between a thinking and feeling person in this test. Google the Myers-Briggs personality test and go to 1.4 on the Wikipedia page. Those basically go over what she's talking about.
    Hope that helps~

Hello! First off, I want to tell you your facial symmetry is aesthetically pleasing to my eyes. Secondly, is there a test you recommend to find out what personality trait I am? I took a couple test and I usually ended up being an INFP or an INTP, but I kind of want to be as accurate as possible. I don't want to pay for the MB test yet until I start my new job since I'm a recent college graduate. Thank you.

Pointing out mistakes: I've gotten much better about that, but there was once a guy whom I found annoying, and he was saying falsities about cars or something. I sat there vibrating for a second, and finally burst out, saying, "You're a fool!" Sounds simple, but there was real force behind it

One of my best friends is an INFJ. She's quiet but she draws people to her like a magnet. She's also rather individualistic and deep. Totally likeable once you get to know her. Definitely her own person, with definite limits and knows what she wants. There's a huge difference between how she treats people she trusts and everyone else. HUGE.

You can also train yourself to notice more things. You know the brain is like a highway. The more roads you take or build the faster you will make connections and get to your destination or result. Even if you end up at a dead end. You just build a new connection to the nearest highway. So if you don't notice a lot of things around you just take like 30 mins every day and really look at everything around you. A tree, the grass, the flowers, the detail of the flowers this will practice your skill

I don't know my way around my home town even though it is so small, because i'm always thinking about something else, when i'm in the car. it's becoming an issue now that i'm learning to drive. I'm slowly learning...

    (3) BTW, I researched the Myers-Briggs nonsense many years ago and concluded that it's so riddled with relativistic bias and psychometric irrelevancies, disregarding idiosyncratic vicissitudes of character (for example, I'm a absolute social chameleon who displays and experiences different levels of comfortability in diverse settings, thus I'm an introvert and an extrovert). It's chock-full of ambiguous questions asked numerous ways (just begging for contradictory responses).

I know how you must feel, but we INTPs pursue competence and holistic understanding above excellence in a single field. That's why we make good directors and designers, but usually are not as good at the nitty gritty "crunching" stuff as others who focus more on mastery.

When I sat down and did it it took well over an hour because I was conversing with the qualified individual to explore my personality traits, the questionnaire is particularly useful when one is not sure on a part e.g. if one is F or P, T or J.
But it merely helps you understand how you interact with others and the world, it is not a full description of one's brain psychology and no one is claiming this either.

Have you looked an ADD possibility? Tendancy to miss things & being seduced by new, novel and interesting things suggests it. In "Driven to distraction", the author states those affected are often extremely creative, girls being less hyper active and more so lost in a creative world. He asked one "spaced out" girl what she was thinking about and she was lost in a more interesting world she'd created where there was a "numbers dance" and when the numbers 6 and 9 danced they formed an 8

I know that this might be unrelated but if anyone has watched Harry Potter the deathly hollows part 2; there is a scene where Neville wakes up in the middle of a battle, that can totally paint a picture on what an INFP or INTP can be all about, in fact Neville might be a good representative.

  • @SDWLLB
    @SDWLLB 12 лет назад

I had the test done by someone trained and qualified. It's actually based on what you think, there are scenarios that can be used to help explore where you reside most often. Everyone will exhibit all the characteristics at some point. So for instance and INTF will still exhibit E and P characteristics on occasions too.
The questionnaire is just helpful to hone people in and the online tests aren't overly dissimilar to the official ones either.

I have known one that has since moved away, and presently know an ENFJ. They are very patient, intelligent, warm individuals. Both are programmers with a deep well of emotion, oddly enough (The INFJ privately felt her emotions while the ENFJ makes everyone aware of them). They can be fussy and overly tidy, but are very consistent wonderful people to have in your life.

Nonsense. I am not advocating ignorance and where do you get the "emotional reason" from? What I am saying is that by putting labels other people invented you are limiting your own potential. You risk ending up having an excuse that you are by nature a certain person thereby believing you can't change. It is better to focus on what you can improve on in your life. Trust your core values and improve on areas you want to improve on. Don't waste time on "knowledge" that limits you.

In which case it is wiser to not argue, al least if you don't want to learn abaut it.

The objective aspect breeds a slew of anecdotal uncertainties. This flawed test amounts to a very rigid, arbitrary assessment with too many outliers and borderline cases to justify any significance.
