I think most of the issues with this story map are an example of a GIS professional "checking the box" basically "knocking out the task" instead of following through to the point it is a beautiful, marketable piece of work. I think this is something a lot of us find ourselves in whether it be limited time or interest necessary to follow through on the finite details. To combat this I try to ask myself "Is it visually pleasing, is it clear, can I make it more user friendly?" I also think Story maps are a great opportunity for us to collaborate with some of the more creative or marketing oriented people in organizations. just my 2¢, Loved the video!
Allen Hendriks thanks for the 2¢. I agree sometimes you just need to get the job done so you can move onto the next and not everything is going to be a fully developed project.
This has been my favorite video of yours so far! I really enjoyed that you brought an actual example in to discuss. Hope to see more content like this! :) I really agree with what you said about using the flowers as a centroid for the polygon and utilizing scale dependent symbology. Also, the dark blue water didn't bother me as much at first glance (which is why I love hearing different perspectives about UI and map design), but what did stand out to me as a bad thing was the neon bright colors of the flowers. I don't think it blended with the overall visual style and I would have gone for a slightly more muted color palette. Just a personal preference!
Katherine Clark thank you for the feedback! I agree the flowers did give me a 60s vibe not exactly in the same tone as the rest of the map. As I considered it more I think having a flower for each winner would have been better. Possibly different flowers for each category which could be reflected as the bullets in the list. But this could get cluttered quickly. I did enjoy doing this and I think we need more!
Good morning and thank you for the presentation and I leave with pride my Congratulations for the Channel and thank you and until the next Video !!!!

Great video!
Is it common to utilize a graphics editor, like Adobe Illustrator, along with GIS to make maps more visually appealing?
