Can you imagine that the extended overall battle was so massive and intense that there were notable battles within the campaign on Okinawa itself? Couldn't imagine. 🪖 🏝
How can you love American history Because it's all a buch of propaganda and lies Those sailors at preal harbor were set up and the guys in the Philippines were left hung out to dry to manufacture consent to test nuclear weapons on live human targets They were all fighting for the same people all along War is a racket and nobody wins except money Ford and GM had factories in Berlin and sold weapons to both sides through the war And after the war they demanded reparations for damage done by allied bombing raids They were all fighting for the same people all along War is a racket
My father was a Navy Corpsmen at Guadalcanal. He used to tell me he was CONSTANTLY scared EXCEPT when he had a couple of Marines by his side. Thank you, Corporal, for your service.
My grandmother's oldest brother, George Maelalo, was a native that fought alongside Austtalians, New Zealanders, other Pacific Islanders with the Americans against the Japanese in Solomon Islands. We share a common direction of reverence to this. GOD BLESS
@@k27ism you are right it was not only the Americans who fought the Japanese my grandfather was at Guadalcanal and bougainville he was new Zealand army I know Tongans Fijians fought also
My Great Uncle was a Marine Raider, 4th Marine Raiders, it was formed into the 4th Marines, 6th Marine Division. He fought from 1942 and was KIA on Okinawa on June 21, 1945. Lots of Purple Hearts, Bronze Stars and the Silver Star and only lost paperwork prevented him from posthumously getting the Navy Cross. God bless these men.
These are the people I teach my young sons to listen to and respect more than anyone. These men gave us everything and they need to know it. My oldest son is 5 and he has a little lawn flag he keeps hung in his room above his dresser and even when we moved houses he made sure to keep it safe and wouldn't let it touch the ground. Thankyou to all these men, I'm sorry a lot had turned out the way it has.. but there's still a lot of us out here who are grateful!
I will second that sentiment where would we be if World War2 happened today? I have three grandsons in the Service. I sincerely hope other parents grandparents are teaching these children how important our freedom is.
The pacific theater is still talked about in hushed tones due to the severity of the fighting, people who experienced it rarely talk about it, it was total brutality.

My Uncle Ike (Jesse Clare Harper) Pvt 4 Marines 6 Marine Div was killed on Okinawa, Sugar Loaf Hill, May 20, 1945 which I've read was the last day of the battle. Hearing Mr. Wells' account gives me some understanding of what my uncle went through. Maybe they knew each other. On July 15, 2019 (coincidently my uncles 100th birthday) I found out there is a memorial on Okinawa to all those who were killed on both sides and civilians. A friend who was there sent me a picture of my uncle's name. No one in the family knew it was there.

Before becoming President, the main requirement should be military service, bone spurs just doesn’t cut it! This man and many just like him are super HEROES!
Since WWII 98% of Military never see armed combat and serve less than four years. Police on the street see armed combat daily for 30 years. Screw military service

Massive respect to your father. I served as a Corpsman with 1st Battalion 7th Marines in Afghanistan. Proud to have come of age around such hard men.
@@michaellavaughnrobinson Thank you Michael. God bless all who served with honor.
Depending on when he was there it was more dangerous than at other times. But they had individual Japanese holdouts for a long tiem

For what it’s worth, reading visitor reviews it seems as though the memorial is tiny and all of the hill has been developed

So, in his mind, he said, "No thanks!"
