Hey, this is a great video! Thanks for doing this analysis. When I go to your GitHub, the data I see ends in 2020. Did you (or can you) post the data in .csv format through 2022 so far? Or do we have to run the Jupyter notebook to get it to work? Thank you!
hi, when I try this in SPYDER IDE ...I always get the following error " raise JSONDecodeError("Expecting value", s, err.value) from None JSONDecodeError: Expecting value".....from data = r.json().....and I can't figure it out....
@@Novacasa88 When i combine your Old f&g data with a Current run there is a 6 Month gap. Do you happen to have those missing 6 months from 09/21 to 5/22? Thx in advance Chris
maybe you could make de calculations instead of using an api because if this api stops .. you know calculations ... there is an article on site "money cnn" called "What is the Fear & Greed Index?" and there is details about how this index is calculated ... maybe you could make a video talking about and implement it.
Did they change methodologies at some point? When I go back on the wayback machine, the data shows different than it does for the historical data from the chart and from the downloaded JSON data. For instance, the wayback machine for March 9, 2022 shows value of 16, but the historical JSON data shows a value of 21. That isn't far off, but some are much further off than that. (also they changed their web address at some point so you have to use the older link for before a certain date for the wayback machine)
I appreciate the long technical explanation, but next time I would prefer if you started with the result like they do in scientific papers and THEN talk about the details. It looks like in this instance your ending capital was $110k over one year. I would like that information first.
Larry, at 11:00 You show how to get historical data from scraping. But do CNN's Terms of use allow it? I've spent quite a bit of time building an ETF-related data set from public sources and found myself unable to share it because the data can't be obtained "legally". What Your opinion about such Terms and what to do with them?
I wouldn't say I am scraping here. I used an endpoint that specifically returns structured JSON with the historical values. I think it is fair for me to discuss these values and use them in a backtest for educational purposes. I think it would only be a problem if I sold this dataset for a profit.

For this style of exploratory project in python I prefer to use Spyder
What's the algo. Does it work?
