I’m not an expert but have some experience with power tools, I would’ve used a bench mounted vice to hold the OEM handle and a proper center punch to start and cutting oil during the drilling.
Yeah back when I tried doing it didn’t have the proper bench so hence the video. Your not the only one who’s mentioned it. But over the time I’ve done multiple power knobs now so. Was a learning experience 🤙🏼
Нет, ребята. Круглый кноб гораздо удобнее вращать, это более анатомично, ладонь чувствует себя более комфортно. Просто попробуйте и вы не захотите возвращаться к резиновому Т.
Can you please explain how you got the know off. You did not drill the one side very well and then suddenly the knob is off. How do you removes that knob?
Hey man I just got this reel too. Does your 6500 make a slight tsk kind of sound when you reel it or is it completely smooth? TBH I've been a shimano spinning guy for years and was told to give this reel a try for saltwater plugging for tunas. I got it for 90 bucks new. I have a Saragosa 10000 sw and Spheros sw. This reel is more of a workhorse backup type of reel I'd use in so cal. I just bought a saltist 8000 as well but am going to return it b/c of the mag seals. The saltist feels way smoother and doesn't make that slight tsk noise so I'm wondering if I got a bad BG?Thanks for any help.
As of right now I have not heard any tsk noises when reeling my 6500 you might want to check either inside the handle assembly or the inside of the spool. Could be a faulty reel. Also this is my first ever Daiwa reel pretty smooth and strong reel but sooner or later I will do a review when I get my first shimano reel hopefully this helps. Tight lines !
Thanks for the video I am looking at buying this reel this week i wanted the 8000 but thinking of this reel can you cast at a good distance as I want this for beach casting in the uk would you recommend the 8000 for distance casting please your advice it’s for beaches and piers for rays and conger eels ?
Thanks for watching ! I would recommend the 8000 for long cast on beaches or piers with a minimum of 40-50 pound line if you are using a min of 3-4 ounces of weight. You can also do 30 pound test for father distance with a 3 ounce weight on a 10ft rod and up -Good luck and tight lines !
@@JrFishingTV thanks would this be able to cast over 100 yards with40 1b mono and what rod would you recommend with this to cast over 100 yards to get to the rays as lockdown no shops are stocked to go and ask or look at them it’s all online sadly
I would recommend a ugly stick big water same set up I have on mines. Or you can also go for the penn surf rods anything 10 ft and up should get you easy 100 yards
@@JrFishingTV sory last question as I’m about to make a order lol would I get 100 yards plus with 20 1b mono and a tapered leader 20 1b to 70 1b on the 6500 with a 12 foot rod please
Hey, why not take a Saw and cut through the factory knob? This way you should be able to get the knob out without drilling it. Or am i missing something?
The reason why you would want to drill it is to drill out the existing river from the factory knob, you can do it a lot cleaner then I did with some better bits but, that is the reason for the drill never thought about sawing it off tho could be a good idea. ! 🤙🏼
Those power knobs are thin turds and too light ...will get beat up and dented over time . ...diawa knows what they are doing ..best to leave it alone and not mess up your reel and cut your hand
I prefer a bigger size handle due to having big hands. There are many people who like the original handles and some don’t it’s just personal presence but thanks for the advice - Keep in fishing bro ! 👍🏼
Personally I have not used the Shimano a reels. But a good bang for you money would be daiwa only downfall would be just clicker noise being on the low side. But packs a punch at full drag none the less 🤙🏼 thanks for watching the video !
Nice try, horrible way to use a power tool and I’m not surprised you got nailed. It wasn’t the bits... it didn’t look centered... That’s not a magnetic drill bit, its soldered not sawed, and you can’t rivet a screw...
Video start @11:00

The large rubber grips feel far more natural and easy to hold for me than those aluminum power knobs, especially if the hands are gunky/wet.
i was just gonna say that. the only improvement is looks.

Да, брат! Кноб Gomexus сделал таою BG максимально красивой и крутой 🔥👍
Do you know if this will fit the saltist? I been looking to upgrade the knob in a 6500 saltist.
Can you please explain how you got the know off. You did not drill the one side very well and then suddenly the knob is off. How do you removes that knob?
Bro which bride is this lb/mm how many meter spoold i have bg 5000
Wish it was easier, I don’t feel like drilling a whole in my reel
They now make it them as a plug and play. So you’ll be able to just screw it on like a regular handle
@@JrFishingTV so I have a 3k which I just got a few hours ago and I only see the handle for a 3500-8000
Yeah the sizes are for specific models I believe
Anyone know where I can get a drag knob for an okuma aria40a
Hey,
Please confirm the diameter and the longer of your line,
Thanks for the video

"feel a little of aluminum i thought it was a metal" lol
How is it holding up after 10 months. I hear using blue loctite on this all the time
It’s held up pretty good tbh since day of install haven’t has a problem with it yet
@@JrFishingTV I just did the install I used blue loctite on all the threads lol

Yo, what rod you use?
Currently a 7’6FT xtra heavy Penn rod
I would rather spend some extra cash to buy the whole handle with this knob. Thats a lot of job for the installation.
I dont like how he has extra parts...
Mantap👏👏👍✌🎣
🤙🏼🤙🏼😁😁
Stick to fishing and leave the power tools to other people. This was worth a good laugh 😂
Glad you enjoyed the video ! 🤙🏼 thanks I’ll make sure to keep my drill around for more installs 😉

Not at all landed some decent sharks with the knob on it and no problems

Congratulations for your purchase👍👍👍
Do share your first hand experience....reel looks solid.
You can check out my Apollo fishing videos I caught a good size Fish on it
@@JrFishingTV Thank you...
Man you gotta learn the correct word for the equipment. Dividers are actually bearings. The little things are called shims.
I tried this and for sure the knob does come off eventually , all this hassle is not worth it. I wish Daiwa make a power knob handle of their reels.
U got ants crawling on the table…
You very badly drilled that handle, and hand too 😄
how many mm the knob ??
42 MM if I remember correctly 👍🏼
@@JrFishingTV thanks
you allmoust fkd up the handle :d also no oil on the bearings ? the know looks good but the install was kind abad :D
That's dangerous. You might injured your hand.

grazie per tutto ancora😁
