Nursing is a passport to travel. I am Aussie, and I have worked in the UK, New Zealand, Canada. Tried USA but it was too long a process....and by that time, it was time to head home. I would love to do international patient retrieval nursing with government and insurance companies, bringing patients home on commercial flights.
I am a Pre-Nursing student-Recently had three (3) surgeries and lengthy hospital stay-It was very reassuring when the OR nurses would introoduce themselves and just say "We are going to take excellent care of you during your procedure" Even if it is "routine" surgery, it is still nice to hear that the patient is still being cared for and not just a case on the board.
Wow how did I just find this video! I start my OR residency in 19 days and I’m so excited! My goal is to eventually do travel nursing ♥️ Thank you so much for this!
I’m a public health social worker and have both worked in several hospitals and been a longtime patient so have been around nurses for quite some time. It’s always made me rethink my career path since nurses rock 🤘
You both have so much great insight and information ... THANK YOU! I love the support from the nursing community and your channel! Thank you, Nurse Blake!
I’m thankful for all the amazing nurses that had been there for me. Specially that OR nurse that held my hand in the OR hike I was getting my ” OR cocktails” I was so afraid to get my surgery 😌 and she comforted me
You guys are awesome. I too would love to work in the OR once done with RN school. Bless you both ❤ Blake you are so inspiring and dead on with your RUclips channel...love it. Anytime I need a laugh I watch your channel!!!
OMG nurse Blake I was also an OR tech, not a scrub tech and then I went into nursing. I started as an ICU nurse and have been working ICU for 10 months and I MISS THE OR!!!! Just applied for an OR/PACU position a few days ago.......wish me luck!!!
5 year ER nurse. Doing OR program right now. It’s very different. The procedures and process are not hard just very vast and take time to be familiarized with. I still pick up in ER because OR nurses really don’t do a much other nursing staff that’s outside of their specialty.
I’m so interested in OR nursing (second year bsn student at pitt!). Just scared that working in the OR would decrease my floor skills/med skills and I wouldn’t be able to go back to it
Wow I am a mom of 2 (6 and 9) and I’m taking my pre-reqs in the fall (2021). I am excited to start. I can not wait. Nursing has so many different avenues. Never thought nursing would be something I would pursue. I have some home health experience as well.
I'm in nursing school and OR (travel nursing) is my dream right now!! This is literally the perfect video, and soo informative. Thank you to both of you!
@@soleiljolie70 hi! I did not work my first 2 semesters , i just started at the beginning of my 3rd and I’ll be going into my final semester this fall. Honestly I wouldn’t recommend working a lot of hours in nursing school. Like no more than twice a week because you will really need that time to be studying
This is EXACTLY the route I am planning on..OR...then Traveling!! How difficult is it to go into new OR's? Are you recieved well? Is it an easy transition?
Hey Blake, I have been a critical care nurse for 33+ years, I tried travel nursing for about three years, then flight nursing for 7 1/2 years, I did my critical care certification and now I am hospital supervisor. You need to know how to take care of a patient, I got three days to learn the computer system, charting, and all the equipment
I travelled in California. Had all my paperwork faxed over. Just had to get fingerprints there, but got license in ONE DAY! However, I did not like working there!!! One hospital used DOS as their computer program. . . WHAT A NIGHTMARE! California is like a different planet
And I can't count how many staff and travel nurses I've had to talk through a surgery after 22 years. More often than not, I see my nurse playing on their phone during the surgery. People under appreciate surgical technologists. We call it scrubulating.

If you don’t mind me asking why did you switch?
My dad has been an OR nurse for nearly 30 years and picked up travel nursing in 2021.

I’m so interested in OR nursing (second year bsn student at pitt!). Just scared that working in the OR would decrease my floor skills/med skills and I wouldn’t be able to go back to it
It will but you would have to do orientation anyway so that should help.
We play hip hop bbq all the time in the OR!
That and hipster cocktail are our OR go to stations.
Omg hip hop bbq all day, I truly didn’t know so many OR nurses used that playlist 😂😂
❤ Love your smile nurse Blake....you're so cute
Starting the OR in three weeks from med surge! So excited and nervous!
I'm a first year student, tomorrow morning is my first shift shadowing an OR nurse for my student observation!
I want a shirt with that message from your sweatshirt ! "Nurses SUPPORT their young" =)
Single Mom of 8 kiddos and my dream is to be a travel nurse. Working towards it now! Thank you for all the great info and encouragement! ♥️ 🙏♥️👩⚕️😘

Pediatric travelling is the best
Thank you so much for this video, I loved it.
Was it difficult to get the different RN licenses for the different states?
My mom is a retire LVN, and she swore that all they do is pass Meds. 😑. I became an LVN, she was so wrong
What about health insurance ? Does your company provide medical insurance that can work in the different states?
I’m in Puerto Rico, but as a Flight Attendant who knows ✈️✈️✈️
From Green Bay + Appleton WI....go pack go...been ER RN 30+yrs...💚💛
Is one year of OR experience enough to start travel as OR nurse? I'm ICU RN
22:00 story kills meeeeee looooooooooolllll so funny love it
Watching from Louisiana♥️
Watching in Fair Oaks, Ca. 4th semester. My dream is to work in the O.R. 2nd choice E.R.
The same way a Nurse hates to hear “Oh you are just a Nurse” A Surgical Technologist hates to be called a “Scrub Tech”
When was this presentation done?
This was awesome, starting in OR next month!
love these videos!
Looks like a lot of fun! 🥰
How about your housing allowance?
Nurses where your dad worked had time to play with you??! Are they hiring? As soon as im not overworked im sent home early :(
o.r. nurses. among the easiest RN gigs in the hospital. Up there with Specials, Endo and Vascular lab.
A scrub is a guy that thinks he's fly
He's also known as a busta (Busta, busta)...just kidding....one of my best friend's is a scrub/circulating RN...
ER nurse for 15 years. Then went on to get my APRN.
I love any and all nurse Blake videos!
