I actually had all of these way long ago, but stuff happened. First I moved from a 5 drive setup to an 8 drive, so I had to redo all the songs. Then I got really busy with real life stuff. When I got a little more free time I did record the new version, but then FailBlog bought my other video. That led me to buying a new mic and camera which got rid of the huge desync issue I was having.
Oh and then I started a new job so there was all the training and other random things. Throw in some school stuff for a finishing touch and you'll come to understand why it took me about 2 months to get these recorded. Track list below:
00:02 - Dark World
02:05 - Game Over theme
03:24 - Great Palace
04:33 - Lost Woods
05:37 - Overworld
06:53 - Song of Storms

+XellorfGaming BUT THE BERNOULLI BLADE DOES MORE DAMAGE ONCE QUESTED FOR!!!
*(Noone* *will* *get* *my* *refrence)*
+Lutz Peyton I did.
Nasanieru has no name Once you hunt the Biggoron Sword, the Master Sword is useless..
XellorfGaming Admindorf was a nickname one of my geek friends was called, since dork was horrible, he laughed at admindorf and said that's better. Had a great school year since then...
Mechanical Smooth Mcgrooves
Oh my god, that would be amazing!
Mechagrooves :)
a colab between them and Midi Desaster would be too awesome.
Smooth Mech-Groove
back to this, still amazed 10 years after.
@lepetitcamargo Oh my, that's just overwhelming
Sounds like lost woods being cut down with a chain saw
lol
Awwww you've kept track of me. I'm so touched ^_^ Thank you and I hope I can keep you watching!
The Legend of Drive A
and Drive B
@PenetraxOfficial Thanks for watching! I don't think I'll be able to do this request though... I can't seem to find a MIDI version of it. If you do find one, send it to me and I'll see what I can do.
@Plastikarmee I arrange MIDI files that are played through using software originally developed by Sammy1Am. I've made a bunch of tweaks to the software for my own use, but like I said, it originally came from him =) See the FAQ (link in description) for more detail.
@kodowan Actually, I had them on my desk before with minimal contact as they were on their side and they were much, much quieter. The table is fairly hollow and works to amplify the drives fairly well. It's much clearer when listened to in person. It's because the mic is on the table also and picking up all the vibrations within the table. I'm still working on it D=
@lozmaster963 I find all my wallpapers on wallbase.cc. For this set I searched for Zelda. Unfortunately I can't narrow it down anymore than that D=
I saw your other comments of course, but I thought I'd answer this anyway =P
Just the one =) I gathered a ton of molex splitters and spare FDD connectors from PSUs around my house and soldered them all together. It was a fair amount of work as the first few I went the extra mile and put heatshrink on them. I got a little lazy near the end and resorted to ample amounts of electrical tape =P
@whoppersrcool I posted an FAQ that answers your question. Please see the link in the description.
Has anyone mentioned that the wood that they are setting upon added to the great tone of this recording? those bass tones
@GREYLeaderGAMING I have taken your advice! Thank you for being patient with me and watching anyway =)
@AHRoxas5713 See my FAQ for the answer =) I try to explain it best I can there.
Careful with the paper clip ground extension. Paper clips are made with thicker metal and it's quite fairly long. I'm not sure of the ohm/m ratio of paper clip metal, but too much of it could mess up your ground signal.
I got my wiring setup from Sammy1Am honestly =P
Arudion Screwshield + 34 pin IDC connectors (10 back from ebay for $5 US) + CAT5
Made a connector for each drive and then put the right wires into the corresponding screw terminals. You can see some pictures of it on my Twitter.
Ahhh I did in my newest video =D Got a stand for it. I really do need another mic to capture the low frequencies from the table though.
The Legend Of Zelda: The Floppy Disk of Time.
The Legend of Floppy - Disk of Time
Anton Nesselhauf The Floppy of Disk - Memory of Time
The Legend of Disk: DOS of Era
@TheCanadianGamer11 Thanks! I did as best I could and I'm glad you enjoyed it ^_^
@tehpanda64100 Think of how many times I've heard it over the past two months? Your fascination with it is justified in comparison =)
Its like what Zelda would sound like on Sega Genesis
Nope
Fahri Mert Bilgiç yeah a bit
colefreezer It might, but only if the whole song was played with a dist guitar.
I came to one of the best parts of youtube
Your floppy drives have the sweetest, purest floppy drive tones I've ever heard. What fine craftsmanship.
I want floppy music to be in my first video game.
***** I would, but i have been told numerous times that i am this nobody so i guess it makes since, lol
***** Who says I am going to sell it?
Damn it, i was looking forward to a video game with more old-school 8-bit sounds, lol
***** I WOULD BUY ALL OF THEM!
***** you must be great at parties
You've won my heart. My cheeks hurt from smiling at how freaking awesome this is.
And people wonder how it is I can spend all my time around computers.
You are right
@Akantor234 Already didddddd check my past videos =D
I'm crying this is so beautiful
@whoppersrcool Thanks! I was hoping others would notice the improvement!
the only real use for floppy disks now
you're killing me, dude. seriously. i will die very soon. my soul left when the lost woods bit started. ;_;
it's like my entire childhood smushed up together. i love you.
@CobaltDelta Hahaha, it is a powerful theme to say the least =)
It would be fun to make a scientific comparison between the sound of a floppy disk drive and a contrabassoon playing staccato. It's actually quite hard to hear a difference.
+Vharmi the FDD's have a more robotic sound. I think you could hear a clear difference
The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Drives
The Legend of Drives A&B: The Floppies are Linked
This is amazing! The intro to song of storms gave me chills :D
Dark World and Song of Storms are so well done. Especially knowing that you can't control the volume of the main track and the countermelody.
ZRKSYD
Gosh you're gonna find every comment of mine in existence.
@misterpc23 At the time I bought it it was $100. Naturally, after I bought it the price went down >_>
@Mowmowkitty88 Really!? Thanks so much!
I just found out this floppy drive music thing is a thing. Nice work. This is amazing.
@MrSolidSnake Thanks, i read the faq, this is really truly impressive, and the overworld theme sounds fantastic, a great improvement from last time's rendition
Great as usual I see. Just wanted to point out that a more complex "mix" of the Game Over music from Zelda 1 kinda already existed in its credits music. At any rate, glad to see more!
This is fantastic. Although the Lost Woods theme sounds empty without the tambourine rhythm in the background, it's still amazing.
00:02 - Dark Floppys
03:24 - Great Floppy
04:33 - Lost Floppys
06:53 - Song of Floppys
This is awesome! Really hits back to the roots of electronic music!
This is the only Floppy Drive Choir vid I found that sounds awesome. At parts, it sounds like a metal guitar.
I love the Dark World theme as the opener. Such an amazing piece.
Guess I'll post my love for the first theme... the dark world theme is one of the best and most unique in the whole series, and comes from my personal favorite game in the series. There's a lot of good music there, in a lot of amazing games... but it's absolutely one of my favorites!
@SeelenAffe You will just have to wait and see... =)
during the pause at ~5:03 I can still hear Navi's voice.... freakin Navi, lol... awesome job!
Just plain amazing. I congratulate you on being a badass.
Loved it!!!!!! You're definitely the best floppy drivers maestro in the whole Youtue world!!
I hope you keep up with your hard work ;)
(Some suggestions: Terminator, Indiana Jones and Star Wars main theme)
Then just read my FAQ =D
Link in the description.
Am I the only one that finds those floppy drives...cute?
I like that one, third on the right toward the back. I'll call him Jeffery. Snake, may I keep Jeffery?
+Lee1995S METAL GEAR 4 dayz
Nope, you're not the only one.
Dark World right off the bat? Hells yeah.
Subscribed.
@UnderTheStars94 Hahaha, I guess I have good timing then xD
That song of storms is CHUNKY and I love it
omg...... THIS IS SO FKING AWESOME!!!!! i´m loving it so much i cant express my admiratian in words.....
The Legend of Floppy - Floporina of time
I should have gone to bed an hour ago. Then I found your videos, and here I am.
I say this is the best one you made yet!
Badass. Thanks for the rhymes xD
The Song of Storms at the end have me chills... It has never sounded so scary!
i don't really play zelda much, but i do have the original on the NES, so needless to say, i didn't recognize shit until 5:38
God, these are all so perfect.
Glad to see that there's still a good use for floppy drives out there :)
Yes and no. That's a blue LED under the Dell. It is connected to an Arduino that is underneath the table though.
5:36 EPIIIIC!!
Hehe, you are an amazing person, with an amazing musical idea! All this creativity earned you one more sub, and I wish you the best of luck in the future with more upcoming cool songs! :D
Lost wood was just beautiful dude Good Job!
To think Skyward Sword had just come out when this was released, and now we're waiting on Breath of the Wild 2. I wish you were still around man, would love to hear you make Breath of the Wild's theme on floppy drives. Wherever you are, I hope you're doing well, good luck.
the Dark World theme is spot on! Oh nostalgia...
You sir, have just gained my respect. Use it wisely.
I have no idea what I'm watching, but it's amazing.
This video has just made my day
this is AWSOMENESS IN 1 VIDEO!!!
@handofmurphy Thank you =)
Yay! More singing floppy drives!☺️
I might just be too much of a sucker for the Darkworld theme, but it being the first thing that played here = instant sub.
I love all of these
the singing floppy drives..... mortal enemy of the singing tesla coils XD
Awesome new mic, sounds fantastic!
I don't recall floppy disk drives being so noisy, and I had a few back in the day
Oh yeah it is sooo good !! Enormus work congratulations !
There's something about 0:49 that just sounds amazing. It's got so much 'oomph' behind it.
OMG! At 5:46 that is some serious floppy drive carnage!!
Almost exploded of happiness at 4:32.
It sounded like "Smooth Criminal" right at the beginning... These vids are just awesome and put some good use to "outdated" technology. May I suggest "Strutter" by KISS for your next project? Keep up the great work.
that song of storms sounds so epic
dude, song of storms is so badass like this
Sad thing is, this sounds better than that horrid sound chip in the original Gameboy. I like this... SO MANY CHANNELS!
New life for floppys.... Awesome!!!
Perfect! Many thanks for Lost Woods! Great!
this sounds so good
You simply made ma day, AWESOME
This is a trip.
Wow, new mic sounds awesome!
Still anybody saying floppy drives were useless nowadays?
Yes, we have speakers.
You're really good man. You should be in the record book !
I think 8-bit and other old games sound best on floppy. They were simple to begin with and thus sound good on a simple medium.
I....how the hell does this even? How did you think this up. Great work, even if it's a little scary.
