MAXIMUM THE RYO-KUN wrote this song about his experience being bullied in 8th grade. Hence the setting in the school yard, building, and classroom. In the beginning he talks about the rage he felt as the abuse was piled on, even though nobody else could see it. At the very end, he concludes that all he can do is forgive his former tormentors and a move on with his life. (Growing up to be a Rock Star is perhaps the best revenge.) The manga images swirling around the class classroom are from the manga they created as part of a box set including ad CD and the DVD containing this video and others found on RUclips.
I asked my wife (Japanese) and she said it’s a song about getting bullied by teachers as well as a criticism of the Japanese schooling system, that punishes anyone who doesn’t fit in (sounds like the U.K. schooling system!)
saw them all the way here in Chile a good 7 years ago, and it was the best fucking night of my life, I second what you said, if the chance presents itself, do all y'all can to go see them, the energy is something else.
This song was my introduction to this band and this is also my all time favorite from this band. They are such a versatile band and I desperately hope that you react to more songs from MTH.
Thank you guys so much for reactng to Maximum and Yoshu Fukushu especially. I always forget how incredible this song is and always give me chills. I look forward to the next reaction! (Here hoping for Maximum the hormone by maximum the hormone) 🙏🤘
Yes yes yes finally you guys found MTH. One of my favourite bands ever. Mad amalgam of the sublime and the ridiculous but always original, innovative and hard hitting....This one is like an anthem to all who's been tormented. So wonderfully crafted musically as well as visually. Yoshū Fukushū (予襲復讐 )... loosely translated as "The Anticipation of Revenge".... it's about coming to terms with the effects of bullying, which was influenced by Ryō's (guitars) personal experiences of being bullied in 8th grade (中2 ~ 中に - can see the writing while Nao sings in the beginning and the end). Also shot in a school building, accompanied by images from the manga book specially created for the album. In fact the whole album's interweaving concept is somewhat the experiences and effects of school life. A true Epic! (Every song is worth checking out from this album)🤘🤘🤘
Akane Hirose (Band-Maid) and Tamu Murata (Nemophila, soloist) have each said that they started playing the drums because of Nao Kawakita. The last line she sings before the big switch at the start is "Nobody can help him. Not even his big sister". Here she is referring to herself, as the song is about the guitarist coming to terms with the bullying he suffered at school. Like all of their songs, this one feels a bit comedic at times, but it is really deeply emotional. The ending still brings tears to my eyes after many listens.
The bassist is a big fan of the Red Hot Chilli Peppers and based his style of slap bass on Flea. The closest equivalent to Maximum the Hormone is probably System of a Down and even then that doesn't feel like a perfect comparison.
and as other posts have mentioned, it's about a bullied experienced of a band member and how he overcame it with forgiveness after contemplating revengance
Finally got to MTH. I've suggested them to you several times but I'm sure it was lost in the noise. The beauty of MTH is you can't judge them on any single song as they're all over the place. You can't be into metal and call yourself an aficionado without appreciating what masters MTH are with completely bat shit off the wall transitions that work. Probably why they're such a tinderbox for reaction videos. This is a great band to go down the rabbit hole on for future videos. The view count should tell you that. ;)
Can't believe it's taken you this long to discover Maximum. A truly talented band who has inspired many new Japanese metal bands. They've been at it since 1998. A-L-I-E-N and Menkata Cottelee are also pretty amazing as well
Even without understanding the lyrics, this song was making me feel so emotional. This was so beautifully done, this band is amazing! I will definitely look into reading the lyrics!
Just one thing... Could everyone please stop saying MTH take (part of) inspiration of SoaD ?. MTH is almost same age than SoaD. In fact if you could rely thoses two groups you could say "MTH is what SoaD should be in the future" Nao (the drummer) in an interview said she was a bit pissed off by this comparison
This band is amazing, every song they do is just as incredibly interesting , never boring, they can put metal, punk, rock, jazz, ballads, and 4 vocal styles in every song, and it works!!!! Makes regular punk or metal completely boooooring 😅
I remember when the worldwide web was actually a web. Before search engines. You would go to a web page and it would have links to different places. That was how you got around. That was how Yahoo started. It was a portal page that just had a bunch of links to different pages.
I ❤️ & follow u guys but gotta give u a wee bit of playful shite. The "ok, what is happening? I'm just gonna go with it." look was on both ur faces during the intro but when the beat dropped(4:12)...the jaw drop says it all. 🤣😍🤣
If you like her vocals, you should check out: Chara - 'Time Machine' (and pretty much the whole album that track comes from). Chara's a pop singer who's a bit like Japan's Madonna - been around forever and an always evolving her style to fit the times.
I would like you to react to the video 2022 em uma musica (2022 in a song), by Lucas Inutilismo. Every end of the year he produces videos with mashups of the most played songs of the year in versal rock. I'm sure thousands of Brazilians will follow you if you do. a hug 👍🏾
This song send a message "No Bully".
More to the point, the song is about forgiving those who bullied you in the past and the past self that was hurt by the bullying.
Bullies are cowards. 🥵🥵🥵🥵🥵🥵🥵🥵🥵

I've often said they're the Japanese SOAD, and obviously they're nothing alike, but there's definitely something..
Awesome to hear your comments and to see your faces...wish you and your whole family a peaceful year 2023...Greetings from Austria!!😄💗🤘
Thanks for reacting❤
your reaction towards this song is one of the most spot on expressions on youtube😊
