It’s maddening as a store owner to keep replacing clothing and the police and DA refuse to convict if the take is less than 1K but yet the city requires property tax, zoning permits and all the utilities.
"The Police" have to follow rules, policies and laws put in place by politicians.
Cops can’t convict only arrest
They're releasing murderous teens back to the parents. What is 1K to them when it's not their money?
Close and move the store to a state that will press charges.
@@johnpichla9557 absolutely!
After the current mayor of SF and former DA were elected, crimes have become out of control. When criminals have no fear, small businesses and citizens are the victims.
You nailed it. This kind of thing wasn't happening so rampantly on Ed Lee's watch.
Yup, and they only care about the big whales like oracle and salesforce, that bring the big tax money and campaign "donations" (what we call bribes when they happen in other countries).
Why can these people not be removed from office? Citizens have some power to do this, or at least get the ball rolling.
The criminals need to fear their victims. That is why we must be armed.
You're only a victim if you allow yourself to be a victim. There are ways to get around being arrested for doing the right thing, people just stop using their brains in this liberal cities.
Their first mistake was opening a business in SF.

I'm really considering quiting my job and letting my house go and just moving to San Francisco. The city will pay me and I won't starve . If I need a clothes I'll just steal under 1k$. No more taxes, no more commuting, no more nonsense. I'll just chill by the beach and if I need shoes I'll steal again under 1k$. Sounds like a dream life seriously. San Francisco here I come!!!!!!!!!!!!

I know this feeling well. I had two businesses in Albuquerque, nm and they were broken into multiple times each. i run a restaurant, in central texas, we average 2-3 break-ins every year.
we have monitored alarm system, we upgraded the glass to triple laminated security glass, we barricade the back door, we leave the register open (case they will break it if it is closed).
by the time the police get called from the alarm going off, the thieves are GONE.
Do the thieves ever get in?
@@charlesritter6640 they do, but by time the police are called from alarm, they are out.
we learn from every break-in.
we use stronger glass, barricade the top and bottom of back door, added security cameras. upgraded locks (they "spun" off the deadbolt once)
for every 3 attempts, 1 actual break-in occurs.
a few times they couldn't break the glass so they left, but the security glass cost 600$ per door... once, i walked up to the door and someone left a 12 inch drill bit in on out door (someone tried to pry open the door with a massive concrete drill bit...)
we use to only barricade the top of the back door, then someone pried up the bottom of the back door and crawled in... (so we barricaded the top and bottom of the back door).
most of the time, they just toss a giant rock at the front glass and if it breaks, they go in, we have replaced the front glass about a dozen times, we have been at that location for 30 years...
we leave the register open, cause they will smash it thinking there is cash in it...

" i never would have expected this"... these people don't have RUclips?
This city has become a city of the have and have nots. The line between the super wealthy and the not wealthy at all, is abundantly clear. When SF took in all the tech companies (yes, tech disrupted SF) during Ed Lee's term, it gorged itself on the massive influx of new tech dollars. The problem was that most city leaders benefitted from that influx and lined their pockets instead of using the money to address homelessness (which was a growing problem in 2009) and the displacement of locals who were beginning to get pushed out by new young workers with a lot of disposable income. Fast forward to 2022, the city pillaged by companies that were given a wide berth and all access to the city and a pandemic and we are faced with crime from life long criminals attracted to all the wealth to desperate people who have never been helped by the city.
Yet the leftist solution is to give more money to politicians, and stop prosecuting crime. Geniuses!
This is no correlation between crime and poverty. Criminal behavior exists whether or not there is wealth. Some of the wealthiest persons in the world today are criminals. Perhaps many folks are poor because they chose criminality, rather than productivity, as their occupations, and they're just not very good at it.
@@meatpopsicle1567 The crime I'm referring to is crime by those who have nothing and steal to survive or like you say are life long blue collar criminals. Wealthy folks typically don't loot stores and break windows. The wealthy commit money or corporate crimes. See Enron.
@@meatpopsicle1567 i'd say there's a very real correlation between particular crimes and the economic situation they're in. not a lot of drive-bys going on gated communities.
@@ryanbarker5217 Odd that in the follow-home robberies that have become popular today, the armed perpetrators are also driving expensive cars. Same for the smash and grab criminals: their getaway cars are invariably BMWs, Lexus, high-end Toyotas, or even Mercedes. The burglaries of high-end sports wear retailers are not being driven by poverty, but by greed and an easy profit of the illicit sales of luxury items.
The perpetrators are not stealing bread to feed their families. They're stealing status items for the very selfish reason that they do not want legitimate work, because there is no status in it. The argument that crime is driven by poverty, especially in these cases, is as obsolete these days as buggy whips and hoop skirts.

I don't get why this is news. Hayes Valley traditionally has been a rough neighborhood and high end stores go in there shocked their businesses get broken into. 20 years ago that was all liquor stores. There majority of The City's public housing is nearby. If you want to put a store with expensive product in a neighborhood with high crime you need to do it like Supreme. 4 security guards and lots of gates. If you don't want to do that, put your store in the Marina or a mall.

The answer may be to provide safe legal supplies of drugs to addicts and then raise crime penalties and arrest levels for such crimes/thefts. The addicts commit crimes for drugs, if they are provided drugs, which they will use regardless, then there is no longer a lack of compassion when persecuting addict thieves to a higher level.
Providing free drugs isn't the answer, the answer is simply to prosecute drug dealers.. as long as you have 10-15 drug dealers standing on the sidewalk where most addicts live, they can never become ex-addicts.
The leaders around here view this as reparations.
What do they sell? Lol...
It won't get better
LOL… Guest what… high probability same people who are complaining also Voted for the Politicians who enact and enforce these Policy’s causing these Problems…
There’s a multifaceted solution to this problem. One is to start enforcing panhandling laws. You don’t have to arrest them but confiscate their money. Then increase patrols in areas of high drug use. Increase police presence outside pawn shops or initiate a system pawn shops need to use to catalog inventory. For example make it mandatory that pawn shops log all of their inventory in a database that is tied to the police. Car lots the same. This way you reduce the market for stolen goods. Pawn shops should be on board because they are liable for taking if they accept stolen merchandise. Once their money supply has dried up because they can’t panhandle and they can’t get money for stolen merchandise and the drug dealers have no one to sell to , they will clean up, die, or move on.
Drug enforcement alone would solve most of this issue.
Worst idea ever
