    The MDA Labor Day Telethon was an enchanting yearly variety show that ran for half a century. Hosted for many years by Jerry Lewis, the telethon featured top stars from the world of music, comedy, and Broadway and was like no other show on earth.
    The telethon was created to help support the Muscular Dystrophy Association, which is leading the fight against muscular dystrophy. MDA dedicates itself to strength, independence and life. To learn more about MDA and to donate, please visit www.MDA.org.

    He's not kidding when he said he knows people who get 20 million a film to do Jerry's act. So many comedians have been inspired by Jerry Lewis that there are so many who have picked scraps from the master's table. Jerry Lewis is the King of Comedy.

      I miss the Jerry Lewis Telethon, it's was really the last true way to show the variety acts especially to raise money. So sad how they did it.

    Jerry Lewis orchestrated a show effortlessly. He never missed a beat, always raised the bar. Truly gifted at live stage presence. Performances were 100%.

      sooke54 you're kidding, right? Jerry was shooting him daggers and being passive aggressive that whole time. Watch the one where Short came on as Glick. Lewis was so keen to upstage him he kept stepping on his jokes and forced Short out of character. Short is a pro, though. He managed to kill even with a hostile straight man in Lewis.

    Boy, these two hate each other, don’t they. They may be both icons but they are two generations apart and full of angst, both of them . A perfect song for two over compensators but sooo talented and full of experience. Thanks for posting. Thanks god they both sing so well. Love it.

      I don't think they hated each other. Lewis could be really evil though. I'm actually kind of surprised he embraced Short. He probably viewed Short as a younger version of himself, thought they could do well together.

    Well now, that to me IS entertainment and I knew Martin could sing fairly well but had not idea he could sing perfect harmony as is demonstrated at the end of this video. You can tell they really like each other but anyone that doesn't like Martin Short has a screw loose anyway.

    So glad that MS stayed with JL toe-to-toe. Most comics would cow-tow to JL - but by Short staying on the same level with JL, he actually challanges JL and makes him better/younger.

    Lewis was one of the greatest comedians of all time. He kept a 24 hour marathon going until his 80s. The MDA should've given him a phenomenal swan song when he stopped the telethons, and there's some talk (although I've never seen confirmations) that they were less than respectful about it.

    Did they do anything more together? They’re strangely (in)compatible. Jerry was a great straight man at times and he should’ve been here. He was between worlds. Interesting. 🙏

    Answering comments about Short outdoing Jerry. Not really. I was impressed how Jerry let Short on his show, even after Short did a parody on Jerry for SCTV. I was further impressed with Jerry letting Short run free and take the lead, as he did with other guests on his show. Jerry could be a descent guy

    Great performance. Whoever handled Jerry's audio did a superb job - Jerry never sounded so good. Martin's sound was not as well setup, he sounded too far from the mic - he actually has a much better voice than you get here.

    Stupid and they've been better, but not this time... the thrusting was unnecessary...Short was just trying to pick up the tempo because it was too slow for him...a couple of pros, yes, but... new material would be great.
