ok I own the Cr120 head and a orange crush cab 4X12. I play death metal with a 7 string on it. things that really make this shine are these. 1 volume the more you crank the better it sounds hence that four stage gain stuff . 2 when it's bedroom levels turn the mids down to like 8 or 9 o clock and when you turn the amp up higher adjust the eq mostly the mids , 3 tube screamer and noise create a amazing boost and sound difference just turn the gain down to like 3 olock on the amp and then add the boost from a tube screamer. With those tips it seriously to me is the best solid state amp ever. I truly love it and the reverb section the plate reverb is nice for metal tones .
I own this amp along with a 1x12 extension cab. My world is more blues, hard rock, and classic metal. I think it’s an all-around great rig. I knew I wanted solid-state simplicity and I couldn’t find anything that beat the CR60 at this price. It’s been a year and I still dig it. That compressor sounds like something I could use! 🍻
It seems weird ro review a combo and not using the build in speaker. You don’t get the Mesa cab too for 500$. So even though you play great and have a very pleasent way of reviewing, I can’t really use the review since it’s bot the amp by itself and that’s a pitty. The aim of a review should not be to sound as good as possible but to give the best example of how the item (amp in this case) works.
THE internal speaker sucks...i use mine with an orange cab that has celestions...but the voice of the world speaker blows ass and is on my list to swap out
My Orange Pro CR60C arrived today - and it's great! You should own one. I had an all valve (tube) Orange AD30, a decade ago, and I can tell you the Crush is authentic Orange tone - with the benefit of a reverb and FX loop - in solid state. I have two Hiwatt combos, 40 watt valve and 50 watt solid state, and the advantage, for me, of solid state is that they are plug and play for an instant powerful musical tone.
If you get the gain, volume and master volume volume all up past 3 o clock, this amp chugs. sounds killer jamming with a full band! I have swapped out the votw speaker for a v30 and added 112 v30 closed back extension for a mini stack, sounds EPIC!!
Just got mine for christmas, as an alternative to all the modelling "practice' amps I had been using as I want to move back into jamming in studio sesh's as soon as possible. Very impressed with it so far even as a "bedroom" amp!
Hey Agu! Long time fan. After a while of deliberating a few different amps including some Orange Crush stuff I finally grabbed a Peavey 6505MH, best decision I think I could have possibly made! Younger gear reviewers and artists like yourself are inspirations for me to do similarly! Thank you so much man, and keep up the great videos!
Great Playing. I got one of these Orange Crush 60 Pro and I like it a lot. I change a lot between channels and I use the effects loop. I use the dirty channel about 60% and I use a tube screamer ts808 when needed. It is awesome. I do not understand why did you do a review of this amp and use other gear that make up a lot the real sound of this amp. That is not fair.
I hated this amp (the head version particularly) since it came out because of the dirty channel but then I realized the dirty channel changes drastically from guitar to guitar. Also the eq section works kinda backwards from a normal Orange amp. After I figured out how to work it I bought one
Had the exact same experience , now I have the orange cr 60 aand love it - when it was " new -out of the box " the Gain sounded harsh - fizzy , its because of the speaker ,after approx 40 hours playing the speaker broke in and the gain - volume Improved alot - sounds much smoother now ! The gain sounds just like my other tube amp ! Unlike other solid state amps the Gain with this amp ist perfectly adjustable with the guitar Volume - Tone knobs too ! thats how Orange amps work ;-)
Yup, sounds exactly like my experience with it. When I played it in store it was always through v30s or the stock speaker. Was harsh and fizzy. Put it through a 1960b cab with the g1275s and it came to life. Now I run it through my k100 loaded cab and its god like
Yep. I have an SG Standard with '57 Classics and the 120 head sounds badass. I tried it with an Epiphone LP with ProBuckers and it was quite fizzy with the gain past noon. Not only the guitar but the pickups effect the tone of the amp, but thats true for pretty much every amp.
@@motorrebell I have this amp and wondered if you can help me. Should the power supply in this amp make a humming sound when you power it up, or should it be totally silent? It's more obvious when you listen at the back. This is with nothing at all attachment to the amp apart from the power cable. Also its nothing to do with the speaker.
I got the LTD-401QM because of your review, I tried it out in the store and loved it. I may get this amp too. On another note, I'm glad you love the compressor, I dont find many people who can appreciate it. Most people add bass or gain to their sound hen in reality you just need to add fullness, which is what a compressor does. Amazaing products, amazing reviews and as always, amazing content. Thanks Agufish!
Great amp if you're buying it for the right style you plan on playing. Way too many people expecting super djenty American tones from this and calling it bad.
First off, any combo speaker needs a good break in period which Im sure you couldn't do in the time you had it. Second, I think it sounded awesome thru the Mesa cab!
Agufish How about a Marshall code demo? Myself and others, I'm sure, wouldn't mind a demo of that amp from a fellow harder rock/metal player. Doesn't seem like it is geared toward metal, but it WOULD be nice to hear it demo'd with a nice OD pedal, that being the case. Just to see what one could get out of it. I've seen some demos of the warm channels, which sound quite nice.
Asr 01, I had the same experience. I hate modeling amps...the mustangs and Marshall code. This orange amp has ended my search for amps. I sold my blackstar ht5rh full stack and bought this cr60. Best purchase I've made in music gear.
Tried with all kind of pedals both with the CR120H as the CR120C, using a tubescreamer at high volume with little to zero gain in the front of the dirty channel and adding additional EQ after the preamp does the job, no need for any distortion pedals if that is what you mean with killer pedals. The Voice of the World speakers start to sound really good after they are broken in, I prefer 2x12 cabs as a minimum though, never got a hang of the 1x12 sound.
yes! i just purchased the cr120c and got the extension 4×12 cab and it will eat any amp i have had previously for breakfast.. clean channel has headroom that reaches the heavens. i use effects (tremolo, overdrive, chorus, compressor and wah) and this thing just rocks!
I bought this amp used for 350 CAD and it was in mint condition. This amp is the best sounding solid state amp I’ve ever played. Hands down. This thing blows my mind. Sounds even better coupled with an orange 112 cab.
I just bought this amp in brand new condition, the seller had it 3 months, off a FB online kinda marketplaces for 250 dollars, no footswitch, but found a new footswitch for it for 35 dollars off Ebay, its been pleasant and nice to play, but im use to high dollar tube amps, so the sound for me me is good for a solid state amp, probably one of the best out there, but i wouldnt pay 600 dollars plus tax for this rig new, i think its over priced a bit, but because it says Orange on it? They wanna gouge the working class musician, my little 20 watt Orange micro terror sounds better and in fact is louder than my 60 in overdrive, but im running it into a 212 cab with celestion greenbacks, but for the price i paid for my cr 60 combo? Im really happy with it, its really heavy for a solid state 112 amp, but again it sounds good, i think Orange should sell these amps for atleast 150 dollars cheaper, no footswitch? Cmon Orange, give us a break..glad i only payed what i did..and its not really that loud everyone,
Nice vid! Two question, would you consider changing the speakers to celestion 40’s, two would do a video of the 120c. Thank you for the time keep doing your thing!
I just bought one and I’m stoked to try it. But $50 for a footswitch? Dang. Also, love the Foxbody. My dad has an 89 white GT that I drool over on the regular haha
@@xNimrod97x Thanks I've had the car for 27 years. Yeah it's worth $50 for the foot pedal to be able to turn the distortion and reverb on and off without walking to the amp. If you get it make sure you get the double one and not the single one.
Smitty that’s awesome! Love those cars. I need one haha. Nowadays most of them I see out are trashed, sad. And alright I’ll check into the foot switch. Not before I check if my Mesa one will work though...
If this amp’s gain was more aggressive and the cleans were more fender-like I’d pick it up to use at home but to my ears the gain always sounds much too weak and the cleans sound much too flat even with an added compressor. I do agree that it could work great for a 2 amp setup though, to get that tone contrast. Great presentation.
A speaker change improved the ( Gain) sound very much in my cr60 ,Also adjusting GUITAR Tone -Volume Knobs gets you every clean -overdrive - gain possible !
I really am just looking for a solid state jamming amp to lug around in had high hopes for this one but I really don't like thin lead tones so that's sucks
So I’m deciding between this, or a Boss Katana Artist? Please help I’m so torn, and I need some advice as I’ve not got to be in the room with either of these amps. As I don’t have a music store near me that carries much of a selection. Someone give me some pros and cons. I know you’ve probably played them both, so please if you could write me back.

Don't know how you can play that amp with the mids and treble so high. I set my amp to those settings and it damn near made my ears bleed and sounded horrible playing through a Les Paul custom.
In my opinion it's not a good deal if, at the same price range, you can buy the Orange CR120 head...with extra 200/250$ you can buy a good 2x12cab (maybe used). This CR60C it's not a bad amp, but damm...500$ it's WAY too MUCH. The clean channel it's Ok. Very good features: reverb with 3 different mode, two footswitch (one for channels and one for reverb) and loop FX...but the dirty channel...no thanks, I prefer spend that money for Codeine!

Solid State or tube - a Laney wont sound like an Orange amp , I Prefer my Orange cr 60 with a well-broken in Celestion vintage 'Speaker over every cheap tube amp !!!
Damn! 40 hours? I maxed the master volume and bass, then played through it for about 90 minutes, which is supposed to get you 95% there (according to Celestion). Guess it needs more love than that...
"Voice of the World" speakers are only made specially for Orange - voiced similar to the vintage 30 but with higher sensivity , that may be the reason for the long "Break in " time .
Skip to @3:14 if you've outgrown your speed metal/death metal/(_______________fill in the blank) metal phase and are more interested in the Cleans this amp produces.
If I wanted to stay around $500 with Orange I would get their closed back PPC 1x12 with the Celestion Vintage 30 and a Micro Dark amp. At least that way you would have a really good cab so you could upgrade the head later on.
They're the best choice if you're going for older rock, and stoner rock/metal. Too many people expect these to be good for death metal and "djent" for some reason, and then call it bad when it sounds like shit for those genres.
This is arguably one of the best demos and reviews I have seen on this amp. Great job and excellent playing

Ahh, push it with an over drive pedal behind it to get that little extra.
Skip to @3:14 if you've outgrown your speed metal/death metal/(_______________fill in the blank) metal phase and are more interested in the Cleans this amp produces.
Chuck Barnett or you could just watch a different review and not be a dickhead 🤷♂️
This....or Super Crush? Choices.....
sounds goood
WHo is Jane and why is she in Kong's fist? Jane was Tarzan, not Kong.
I actually thought the mesa cab alone sounded better than the blend.
If I wanted to stay around $500 with Orange I would get their closed back PPC 1x12 with the Celestion Vintage 30 and a Micro Dark amp. At least that way you would have a really good cab so you could upgrade the head later on.
He was trying to jam more than show us everything about the amplifier 😮😅.
orange was never the amplifierproducer of choice for me....
how come?
Bill Kakoulidis
the sound is not really my taste and they are even really expensive
They're the best choice if you're going for older rock, and stoner rock/metal. Too many people expect these to be good for death metal and "djent" for some reason, and then call it bad when it sounds like shit for those genres.
That sounds nothing like the amp.
So I assume you have a video to refute the sound in this video?
I sold it, so no. This is a 4 year old comment.
random clip of a micd up mesa cab 0:26
I had a Crush 20 watt. It didn't sound great to me so I sold it for a Marshall code 25
even worse eheh
Seems its not an amp for ordinary "Nu metal" Hipsters ! 😂
😲$500 nice
The OD channel sounds pretty awfull. Even after the long dialing, this tone is way worse than any other amp you've demoed imo.
Im sure Its because the Speaker wasnt broken in thoroughly .
Seriously. You can't demo a new combo amp without breaking own the speaker properly lol. Should have got the 120 head.
