Excluding Super Star and Super Star Ultra, Forgotten Land and Air Ride are my personal favorite Kirby games. Forgotten Land breathed so much new life into the franchise with the fully 3D adventure full of stunning levels that were all unique and had great music, and the only thing I can really complain about is that some of those ability challenges were a little insane to do in the time limit. And as for Air Ride, I'll admit that a lot of the reason I like it is because of nostalgia, but City Trial legitimately carries the entire game. As a kid, I could never get bored of doing hundreds of run-throughs of City Trial, always wishing it could go on just a bit longer. And about the other stars you can ride, I've thought that they're interesting, and should be worse than the normal Warp Star because they all embody niches and the Warp Star is meant to be the gold standard. Most of the others have their own great traits to bring to the table, especially the Dragoon and the Shadow Star, my favorites of the bunch
I'm probably extremely biased because this was my first Kirby game after, but Super Star Ultra is still my favorite game in the franchise, and is one of my most nostalgic games even to this day. And yes, I have played the original on Kirby's Dream collection and beat it, also at a very young age. I prefer ultra because of the better graphics (compared to hardware) and the extra modes. I simply cannot agree with Revenge of the King being bad. I'll never forget being 7 and playing it and shitting my pants at Kabula, and fighting Masked Dedede for the first time. Meta Knightmare Ultra was such a huge childhood memory of mine. Even the Arena. As a kid I could never beat it, and it wasn't until middle school that I went back to the game, and learned to abuse plasma. Ill never forget playing the True Arena for the first time and the adrenaline I felt as my health widdled and harder bosses game out. And dear god, Marx's fucking scream. Hearing that as a 12 year old is haunting. For context, I got this game when I was 4, and never beat it until I was 12. Again, I will admit its definitely nostalgia, but again I did play the original growing up too. And after I finished it, I just felt like "Man this is the same game but with less features," and I never touched it again in favor of Ultra. I also had this like... thing where I'd come out of doors and I'd instantly get attacked by an enemy when I had NO time to react? I know this isn't just a me problem since AntDude complained about this too. That never happened to me in Ultra. I don't know why I went on this rant, but I wanted to offer my perspective as someone wh grew up with both Super and Ultra.
I kinda wish Hal would make another anniversary game like Kirby's Dream Collection. I basically tore up the handbook that came with the game with how much I read through it, and it came with basically 7 games + Kirby Right Back At Ya episodes! Games like that really show how much they care about Kirby
Superstar (and by extension superstar ultra) and return to dream land (by extension RTDL deluxe) are two of my favourite Kirby games ever. og superstar was my first Kirby game and would play it with my brother every time we had the chance. We especially loved revenge of meta knight since my brother loved the wheelie friend and mk was one of my favourite characters. We never got that far since we got stuck at the old tower in the great cave offensive but we still had fun every time we played it. Picked it up again about a year ago and managed to 100% the game within a few weeks, it was so much fun. Return to dream land was one that got my attention since the Wii was actually my first console and after I got into the Kirby series I wanted to try it out. played it to completion, loved the characters (Magolor is my favourite Kirby character) and I got to play the main story with my brother and my cousins and had a ton of fun. If I could go back to playing these games for the first time, I absolutely would. TL:DR Superstar and RTDL are my two favourite games because they hold a lot of sentimental value to me
It came at the perfect time, I just finished playing Melee and thought Kirby was really cool, then found out he had a show on Fox Box, saw that famous Nightmare in Dreamland commercial and the rest is history lol
as someone who's first game ever was Kirby's Adventure, i would NEVER rank it that high, still a good game (especially for the NES) but i would put it at like 12-10. BUT EVEN SO I DO RESPECT YOUR OPINION
Here are my top 5 as of now, as a massive kirby fan myself, (well, in terms of the mainline games), I know a thing or two about the puffball 5- Kirby's Return to Dreamland. Alright confession, haven't played DX yet, and while there is a ton of new content, considering I own the original I dont have a drive to spend $60 on a remaster. Anyway about the game itself, Rtd was the return to form that innovated upon is predecessors the series needed, not everything about the game is gold, Super Abilities have spectacle yes, but it really is just press the button and watch stuff happen. Still, we love Magolor here, what a great way to kick off the "kirby renaissance" 4- Kirby SuperStar ULTRA. So personally while Kirby Superstar is a great game, this remake takes that and goes... Well.. ULTRA. It is arguably THE definitive Kirby package, refining almost everything about the original Superstar, adding quality of life features, and adding tons of great content. This was my second ever kirby game and i loved everything about it. It has a beautiful pixel art style, the music from the original does lack some of the SNES depth but thats just minor nitpicking on the OST, this is just DS goodness. it just IS Kirby in his purest form. 3- Kirby and the Forgotten Land. Call it recency bias, or not having any other 3d kirby game to compare it to, but this game is brillaint, it stands with The Legend of Zelda Ocarina of Time in terms of taking a 2d formula and perfectly translating to 3d. Mouthful mode isnt the best gimmick i will say that, but its not bad either. Almost every copy ability controls like a dream and the upgrade system added some customization and arguably replay value. The Elfilin twist subverts not only newcomers because its a plot twist, but also veterans who are used to getting backstabbed 24/7. I think the future of Kirby is bright if they continue to improve off of what this game laid out. The only reason its number 3 is that my attachment to the top 2 is way too high. 2- kirby Planet Robobot. Ah yes, as most fans call this, the best one, and objectively speaking it arguably is but my bias for number 1 keeps me from it. Anyway about this game, almost everything is brillaint, level design is top tier, partially because of the cool techno theme, and partially because of the titular Robobot armor, having the destruction of the super abilities but the puzzle nature of hypernova. The boss variety I feel like could be better overall but the best bosses from this game are some of the best in the entire series. And the lore... Holy frick, i legit have no words, this is just sad, RIP Haltmann. Atleast Susie seems to be doing alright, going around the galaxy using technology to help others. This was one of my most anticipated games of all time. Because number 1 is.. 1- Kirby Triple Deluxe. My first one. This game brought me into the Kirby universe and what a heck of an impression this left on me. And on replay it got BETTER. Its not the most groundbreaking game in the series but it refined a formula laid out by RtD. this is also a game, along with robobot, that genuinely used the 3ds to its advantages. The level design is right up with robobot as the best in the series, and the world aesthetics are just fun, twists on the level themes you expect to make it pop. Taranza is my favorite character in the entire series, and his story with sectonia still makes me cry. Speaking of which sectonia, and bosses in general are just solid, not the absolute best but (with the exception of pyribbit) every boss is good. And the SOUNDTRACK, genuinely my favorite in the series, with Moonstruck Blossom (Sectonia phase 2) is genuinely my favorite boss theme in the series. The one thing people complain about, being hypernova feeling too slow, i dont really have an issue with, i think its used effectively as a puzzle oriented variant on Rtd super abilities. Could this all be bias? Maybe but isnt that what opinions are to begin with. Well that was my top 10. Oh! Also honorable mentions to Kirby Dreamland 3 and Kirby 64 the Crystak shards as 6&7. I love Kirby, still my favorite platformer series :3
It is Forgotten Land for me, with Planet Robobot running a very close second. Not sure what my third would be. SO many choices. So, how does it feel to be done with Kirby?
If i had to give one sentence to describe why Super Star is the best Kirby game, i would say this: you invade a massive war ship and tear it apart from the inside with an epic escape at the end.
Putting Kirby’s Dream Buffet at the bottom is insane, did you even play the game? My wife and I play it almost as much as Mario kart. “Lack of content?” You obviously didn’t unlock everything 😂
I'm sorry but in what timeline is Kirby squeak squad higher than return to Dreamland and amazing mirror? Still a great video as always but one of my favorite Kirby games should not be this high.
I am a super Kirby fan so let’s see if I can come up with something for each spot. 38: I played it when it came out, but I didn’t have money back then so my experience is probably the same as yours. It was great starting out, but it fucking DRAGS. Completely unplayable at this point. 37: I never played this version of Kirby pinball so I don’t have much to say, but Kirby Mass Attacks pinball was pretty cool (though frustrating at points). 36: Another game I didn’t play. Still haven’t beaten the 3rd tilting level on hard in forgotten land fuck those gordos bro. 35: I could never get the timing for the jumps right. I just had to drop it eventually, in spite of my desires to get full platinum. 34: I loved the game at first, but as time went on my friends all just got better and better as I stayed stagnant. I couldn’t enjoy it after that cause I kept getting 4th, which culminated in a pretty pathetic moment of me crying on VC with my buddies. Everyone says you should enjoy a game whether you win or lose, but it isn’t fun to only lose over and over and over again. It’s why I dropped smash and it’s why I dropped this one. Unfortunate. 33: I never played toybox, probably the least surprising thing on this list I’m gonna make. Don’t worry I’ll get real controversial when we get towards the top 10. Those sprites are real cute though, might have to look into them (I dabble in sprite art.) 32: Haven’t played this either. I was a child when Kirby Mass Attack ads were on the TV so I was never gaming with the game boy stuff. 31: I didn’t know Canvas was the first soul boss! (So it’s your fault Nova’s heart exists in Robobot you son of a-) 30: HOW DARE YOU- I’m kidding I’m kidding. I love Amazing Mirror, definitely one of my top 10 Kirby games. I just love running around a Kirby open world, especially with the graphics. I absolutely understand the complaints about the map though that shit is a bit confusing. This was my first Kirby game (through use of an online emulator) so it holds a special spot in my heart. 29: OKAY AMAZING MIRROR IS DEFINITELY BETTER THEN AIR RIDE YOU MOTHER- 28: Kirby Mass Attack is a game that I love and despise so bucket up for a rant. I recently got all the Kirby games available on the 3Ds, and challenged myself to 100% all of them so I have a complete catalog. This game… this FUCKING. GAME. If you want to 100% this one, it demands complete and total perfection from you. You have to beat every level fucking hitless to get all the metals, which is required for one of the achievements. This would mean nothing if the controls weren’t so fucking awful. You have no control over how the Kirby’s move, so they bunch up when you’re supposed to hide in a long hole to avoid missiles from the right, and line up like kindergarten kids the moment the threat is coming from the top. The screen is so scrunched in, it’s very hard to make the Kirby’s go backwards when you need to, and threats come out of nowhere from the right side when you’re just trying to go. Occasionally not all the Kirby’s will grab onto the star when you need them to, causing them to fall into pits you were trying to safely avoid, and the second even one of those little fuckers takes damage, your run is dead, quit and restart the level because completing it isn’t worth it anymore. And this applies to the mini games too. I like Kirby’s Quest, but you have to get excellent attacks on basically every turn to get the platinum score. Fucking hell this game is a nightmare. At least the mini games are great if you don’t care about completion. Honestly the best in the series. And the whole presentation is just, Mwa, chef’s kiss. Too bad it’s a nothing burger if you play casual, and a torture machine if you play 100% 27-26: Never played these ones. At least that means I don’t have another rant to make you all suffer through. 25: Eh. This one just seemed fine when I played. I agree. 24: Haven’t played yet, but I enjoyed the Robobot mini version a lot, so I’m sure I’ll like it when I get to it. 23: Extra Epic Yarn feels like it should’ve been an entirely new sequel then a remake. The extra gameplay stuff they added could’ve been cool if the levels were actually built around their uses. Prince Fluff deserves more love let him get a sequal. 22: Haven’t played, but God damn it’s so pretty. 21: I played this game so much between waiting for my parents to pick me up from school. I was working my way up to beating the hardest difficulties, but never completed them. Maybe one day. 20: Never played, but the dialogue is fucking hilarious 19: Dreamland 2 is really cool, though definitely underbaked compared to modern Kirby games. The DMS fight certainly isn’t the hardest Kirby fights, but it is one of the most frustrating. 18: This game definitely would’ve been received better if it just released with all its content from the gate. Nowadays it’s a pretty good game, but for the longest time it was a boring slog, and so many people dropped it before it got good. One day I hope it makes a resurgence, not as the best Kirby game of course, but as a good one. 17: GCN: “KRTD has one of the hardest True Arenas in the franchise!” Me, who cheesed the entire thing first try with tornado: 16: … no. No I’ll hold off for now. 15: Aaaaa- this game was so much fun! I could actually play it with my buddies it’s just fantastic! 14: Kirby balls reference 13: Metade shippers lost their minds with this one 12: Such a nice game. Very cute. Nebula was wasted. 11: I don’t like it super much, mostly because it doesn’t have copy abilities, but it will always be treasured as the first game of a series that has stolen my heart. 10: I didn’t talk about it much earlier because I wanted to make a joke, but Return to Dreamland was the newest Kirby game at the time I finally got into the franchise. The amount of times I’ve replayed it are definitely more than my fingers can count. The remake was spectacular and an amazing reimagining of a game that defined my childhood. The game I got it, I was so excited that I was literally jumping with energy as I speedran the campaign. To be a fly on the wall in that moment must’ve been a great sight. Magolor’s side moods were a fantastic addition, though I am sad no Mass Attack sub games made it in. Also Sand ability goes hard. 9: Dreamland 3 is a beautiful game. Zero/Dark Matter is still my favorite Kirby villain of all time, and I’m quite sad they and the animal buddies so rarely appear. Though, I understand why Zero doesn’t get brought back, seeing how it got Kirby 64 the highest rating a Kirby game’s ever achieved. The team is too respectful of Kirby to bring back Zero without the bleeding, so their hands are tied. Even still, I hope they can explore Dark Matter more someday. I long for it. 8: Kirby’s Epic Yarn was my favorite game for the longest time. The only reason it isn’t anymore is because I hyper focused so hard I wore it out. As a kid, me and my sister would pick themes for and decorate Kirby’s pad. The game is so cozy, and also very challenging if you try to 100% it. The other apartment dwellers have some difficult challenges for you. 7: Forgotten Land is such a huge step forward for this franchise. The 3D is perfectly executed and Elfilin is my favorite secondary character. The Waddle Dees can talk now! THEY SAY THE FUNNY WANYA! My only issue is that Drill was used instead of just bringing back Animal. It would’ve been easily the most perfect addition and they blew it. Squeak Squad needs more love man… 6: I feel like the reason they haven’t brought back combination copy abilities is because basically every Kirby Game includes way too many abilities and moves for combos to be coherent. Maybe now that Forgotten Land has trimmed all the fat, we’ll see it again! Also miracle matter is the most interesting Kirby boss ever conceived, fight me. 5: I don’t think Triple Deluxe is better than RTD but it’s still a great game. 4: FINALLY. SOMEONE WHO GETS IT. Robobot is the best 2D Kirby game FUCKING FIGHT ME. The levels, the puzzles, the copy abilities, everything is perfection. They brought back DMS. THEY BROUGHT BACK DMS!!! 3-2: Kirby’s Adventure is a technical marvel. It’s beautiful. I don’t think it tops the modern games, but it definitely deserves high praise. The remake has the best pixel art of the series. 1: Alright. It’s the moment you’ve been waiting for. Time to share my thoughts on Super Star. Super Star is massively overrat- /shot /bombed /nuked /boiled /butchered /filleted /roasted- OKAY OKAY LOOK JUST HEAR ME OUT- Super Star is the reason this series is what it is today. It introduced copy ability hats and movesets, developed the Kirby Universe, gave us so of the most important characters in the franchise with character developments, gave you so many ways to play, and the most iconic settings of ALL TIME. I just… it’s the levels. On a purely gameplay prospective, I find the levels confusing, incoherent, or down right frustrating. This game, above all other Kirby games, suffers hard from what I like to call “Old Game Level Design,” the idea that making an obstacle so hard to avoid makes it good level design. My favorite example is HotBeat, that room of lava boxes is so difficult to thread the needle it feels designed just to hit me. That isn’t fun. And the later into the game you get the more stuff like that pops up. It sucks. I think Milky Way Wishes is an amazing game mode, it’s just held back in that one aspect. I’d much rather play Dreamland 3, I simply enjoy the levels more. If the levels were more like Robobot, it would be perfect, but as is it simply isn’t for me. Thanks for reading all this lol. It’s a lot to take in. This franchise is my favorite franchise of all time, and I can’t wait to see what comes next. Have a great day!
Honestly I disagree. Kirby superstar is nowhere near the best Kirby game. It's good but compared to newer Kirby games it just kind of sucks and controls pretty bad. Also Marx sucks that's right I said it magalor and nightmare are WAY better villains

Those sprites are real cute though, might have to look into them (I dabble in sprite art.)
32: Haven’t played this either. I was a child when Kirby Mass Attack ads were on the TV so I was never gaming with the game boy stuff.
31: I didn’t know Canvas was the first soul boss! (So it’s your fault Nova’s heart exists in Robobot you son of a-)
30: HOW DARE YOU- I’m kidding I’m kidding.
29: OKAY AMAZING MIRROR IS DEFINITELY BETTER THEN AIR RIDE YOU MOTHER-
28: Kirby Mass Attack is a game that I love and despise so bucket up for a rant.
Too bad it’s a nothing burger if you play casual, and a torture machine if you play 100%
27-26: Never played these ones.
20: Never played, but the dialogue is fucking hilarious
19: Dreamland 2 is really cool, though definitely underbaked compared to modern Kirby games.
17: GCN: “KRTD has one of the hardest True Arenas in the franchise!”
Me, who cheesed the entire thing first try with tornado:
16: … no. No I’ll hold off for now.
15: Aaaaa- this game was so much fun! I could actually play it with my buddies it’s just fantastic!
14: Kirby balls reference
13: Metade shippers lost their minds with this one
12: Such a nice game.
Squeak Squad needs more love man…
6: I feel like the reason they haven’t brought back combination copy abilities is because basically every Kirby Game includes way too many abilities and moves for combos to be coherent.
Super Star is massively overrat- /shot /bombed /nuked /boiled /butchered /filleted /roasted-
OKAY OKAY LOOK JUST HEAR ME OUT-
Super Star is the reason this series is what it is today.
Wow dreamland 1 is.... good? Nah i hated that dedede boss fight ALSO THAT HARD MODE SUCKS
Terrible ranking 😂
:O
He won’t see this comment I swear(fake)
