Nice analysis & commentary Mr Rick. Relatable & you can spontaneously play something as you illustrate a point. I'd venture to say you're a natural teacher. Fly Banjo Commentary 😊
This is a great breakdown dude. Homespun has the Drive album in a tab book that Béla transcribed. Definitely worth picking up for those who want the whole album, although I think most of the tabs are out there on the web anyway
@@RickyMier Yeah, I went and checked and saw that as well. It looks like you can't even buy physical copies of their other media either, which is a bummer
Awesomeness! I have been playing this forever, but can never find folks that know it to jam with! Please do the second break if/when you have time because there is some major trikyness in there also. Thanks for posting!
Ricky you know Steve Moore lol he told me when I was at his house he showed me your banjo daddy sticker on his case I drank moonshine with him and we played banjo for like 4 hours I had a blast I just thought that was so cool
Great video lesson again thanks Ricky..quick question, what Banjo or Banjos do you have (make),they sound great, how much do they cost,l have an old Ibanez Artist that l paid 795.00 back in about 1980, it was a insurance repossession sale, it's been my main Banjo that I've used .Maybe invest in an upgrade at some point in time even though l love my banjo..you get what you pay for and l know quality come with a bigger price tag and so it should ..will join you lessons at some point..I'm 67 in December have the start of athritis in the base of my thumbs but l won't let that stop me playing Banjo.. thanks mate cheers
Hey MrLemonBob, thanks for your thoughtful comment. I play a Robin Smith Bela copy. I paid around $4500 for it but as he's no longer around these banjos are hard to come by. The trick is the compound radius and wide neck, unfortunately there isn't anyone who I'd recommend that is making banjos like this. Cheers!
Hmmm... So you analyzed Bela Fleck's playing but chose *not* to just burst into uncontrollable tears and throw up all over yourself, waking up several hours later in the crawlspace behind your hot water heater covered in filth and regret, questioning if your hands are your own and why you ever picked up a banjo in the first place? Interesting. I respect how much work went into this. I'll be in the crawlspace if you need me.
