  • Hey lovelies,
    I've been talking about getting this video uploaded for so long! So today I managed to film, edit and upload it for you all!
    Wasn't as brutal as I wanted to be, since I don't want to be burning any bridges.

    It is so reassuring to see a video where you didn't enjoy your experience. I also didn't enjoy mine and I almost felt like a freak because everyone around me was gushing about how much they loved it. I almost felt like the downer in the room and after coming back home I really struggled with my mental health about it. but seeing your video showing that it isn't just me who felt that way. You have no idea how much better this makes me feel thank you.

    AmeriCamp is a much better company to go with! I applied for Camp America in 2016, got placed at a camp literally a few days before I was due to fly out so didn’t have time for my visa etc. Didn’t see the point in that lol. However, fast forward to now and I’ve been placed with my dream camp through AmeriCamp, they’ve been amazing so far and I’m getting paid way more than I would’ve been with CA. Maybe look into them instead? I’m sorry you had a crappy experience I hope you get to go back to America soon x

    I have worked in many summer camps, I think you maybe just don't have the right outlook or attitude to be a camp counsellor.

      Molly Roberts that’s your opinion. But you’re wrong ☺️

      I agree, the flights there was nothing you could do about, it’s was also your choice to go to the camp, and could always have cancelled flights or gone to another near by camp. I think that you have to go into the experience with the attitude that you’re going to be looking after kids for a summer. You’re not there for anything else, you’re there to look after the kids and make sure that they’re okay and having fun

    I suggest go with CCUSA next time, I'm going with them this year and the chances of getting into a co-ed, non religious camp is high, they also have job fairs at the end of the year so you could literally pick what camp you want on the spot.

      Ms Sunday Lifestyle sounds amazing!! But I’m in New Zealand. So I don’t know if I would be able to go to a fair? Also I’m 22 in October so getting a lil old for camp hah

      @@oliviagrace5519 hiya, I'm going through CCUSA to camp this year. They do camp fairs in NZ, there was one in Auckland the other week just for clarification. :)

    I can’t lie I watch the whole video and was still very confused as to what your issues with it was u complained about the flights which was more just bad luck flight delays happen it’s not the fault of camp and the other problem u had was that u went to a Jewish all girls camp but u said u researched the camp before saying yes so u must of known it was all girls and Jewish ? So why did u say yes if you didn’t want that and other than that u didn’t really say anything else about why it was bad

    • @oliviagrace5519
      @oliviagrace5519  5 лет назад +4

      Megan Bird I said yes because my interviewer said I wouldn’t get another chance at going to another camp. I never wanted to go to the all girls Jewish camp. I wanted a co Ed, non religious camp. But they game me this so after spending over $2,000 on flights how could I say no.

    My daughter and one of friends are thinking about doing camp america, what options do they have beside camp America, because camp America sounds a bit off putting.

    • @oliviagrace5519
      @oliviagrace5519  6 лет назад +2

      Shane Te Huia hi, there are quite a few other options. I have known of others who went with IEP and Camp Leaders. So I’d suggest checking those two out. I’m not the first person to have a bad time with Camp America, I’m not saying people don’t have fun but my experience wasn’t the best what so ever! Hope she finds the perfect camp ❤️

    This video was very informative. It gives you an insight on how someones experience was not so perfect from others. I wish there were more videos like this. Will make more CA videos about your experiences? This is quite inspirarional to me. (And you have earned a new subscriber.)

      @@oliviagrace5519 Well i see lots of videos as to how camp was so perfect, when I know that camp is not always flowers and rainbows. Maybe you can go into depth as to what you didn't like about camp, what could get you fired, possibly any storytimes as well. (But if they are too personal, then you have the right to say no of course.) But I would love to see more content that kind of exposed the truth about CA and so on. I personly feel a lot of ppl are not being totally honest when it comes down to what to expect when going to camp the first time.

    How did u spend that much money I’ve been to camp 2 times and I’ve taken 1500 dollars each time (without salary why I’m there)

    • @oliviagrace5519
      @oliviagrace5519  5 лет назад

      Bethany Dewis I had to have money left over just incase I had to leave, as I did. Flights cost $300-400 even more when you need nest day flights. Then there’s accomodation in days off the costs a decent amount too. But if you want to go, and just go to camp nothing else then sure live off the salary.

  • @alicecolton3305

    how did you spend so much money, I am worried now. I am only going to be taking around $300

    • @oliviagrace5519
      @oliviagrace5519  5 лет назад +1

      Alice Colton is that $300 USD? It’s not cheap in America, I went and stayed in NY on a long weekend off with some other work mates and it cost over $300 for the travel costs, accomodation, food etc. I suggest taking more, unless you’re not going to travel anywhere at all till after camp. You go to places like Walmart and Target and you may want to buy food?

    • @alicecolton3305
      @alicecolton3305 5 лет назад

      OliviaGrace Vlogs hey, we only have three days off at my camp until the end so I don’t think I’ll need to spend more until the end? Maybe if I try and get to 500 USD and then obviously I get paid before travelling? Idk I’m pretty nervous about it all so I wanna make sure I am prepared but I don’t have that much money x
