- A selection of clips from 2012 to 2018 showcasing the evolution of the ending of Ghost Love Score as performed by Nightwish since Floor has joined. This video was born out of my own curiosity to hear the changes over the years, especially after Floor's recent video reacting to GLS! Hopefully, you'll find this journey as interesting as I have.
Volume Warning: The audio quality of these clips varies a lot as most of them are from non-professional sources. Be sure not to have your volume set too high, just in case!

You really could! The relief not only at the end of the song but at the end of the whole show must've been immense, and to end on such a (pardon the pun) high note must've been a huge rush :D

She is a perfectionist, and also transparent. I imagine the pressure she must have felt moments before and the immediate relief afterward. You can see it in her face. Such a pure soul she has 💕
I was there and it was epic. BTW is Colombia.
The famous Wacken one still hasn't been surpassed to this day. The whole performance was perfection start to finish, including the sound mixing itself. Just one of those moments where spontaneous magic happens.
Yes, it was. I wonder if the 85K crowd knew they were part of an historic performance that night? I certainly was overwhelmed, to say the least.
I think the Buenos Aires version was a little little bit better, but yeah the sound mixing at Wacken was awesome.

That ending has basically turned Ghost Love Score into Floor's signature song and I love it.

I'm very glad you enjoyed it, I'd wanted to see these compiled somewhere and had a blast doing it, I'm completely taken aback by how many people seem to have been looking for something similar. @@pencilhb13 The honor is truly mine. About 1 year ago I searched for a while for older versions of Floor's final notes in GLS, I even found 2 or 3 from 2012 & 2013, but your work here is very well documented. Love it. Very possible, next days this video will land in my personal blog :)

Damn, that footage from Colombia actually got me a little emotional. The look of relief on Floor's face like, "Yes! Can't believe I nailed it!", and then Emppu coming over to support her is a beautiful moment.

It shows how Nightwish is not just a band.
They are basically a family. Thus explaining why every departure is son harshly felt (for us just as much as for them)

My favorite thing about Wacken is after she hits the note she bows to the crowd, she knows she nailed it, but she is thanking the crowd as well.
That note is a gift from her... The bow is just a gesture to envelope that gift in a 'here is my gift to you, our fans, please receive it with open hearts'
By all appearances, Floor, and all the Nightwish artists, have other-worldly talent, yet are grounded, humble, grateful and caring people. These traits, and their obvious joy in performing and affection for each other, all coalesce into the magic that is Nightwish!!
Honestly, my favorite part of GLS at Wacken 2013 was how she used her hand to give thanks to Jukka.
It hits me sometimes that the drummer in a band is the most underappreciated member, but for whom is the most important. It's like a basement for a house: So important, yet so overlooked.

The GLS at Wacken 2013 was the first time I heard Floor sing a song. Blown away and have been amazed at everything she sings. In my 4th month of being amazed at this band.

Great compilation...I love the look on her face in Colombia when she knows she’s gonna nail that note as soon as it starts. As strong as Floor is you can tell that she always wants to be her best for the fans (and the band) and that Colombia show you can tell when she nailed that note it was a huge release for her knowing that even though her voice wasn’t perfect for most of show she made the fans happy with that song.
It doesn't matter how many times I hear it....it's always like the first time and I still don't believe my ears.
I am almost weeping when I see Emppu supporting Floor again and again. That's beautiful, that is friendship! I could go on and on about how this song is a masterpiece, how this lineup of NW is the absolute dream team, but let's just leave it at that. Kudos to Emppu&Floor!

Tampere is my fav GLS. It has the best audio mix (backing choir, audible at last..) and Floor's grand finale there is out of this world, while walking that cat walk!

So glad you liked it! It did, and after editing this together for hours and hours I honestly could not tell you which version of the ending is my favourite. I thought it was Wacken, but much like with most Nightwish songs, my favourite is probably the last one I happen to have heard! :D
All hail the Valkyrie Goddess nailing those notes even when she was sick. My fav GLS is Wacken and will always be. I hope she and Hannes will play the whole Wacken set for Freja when she is old enough to understand what she's hearing.
It's amazing that even the ideas she ultimately discarded from those 2012 performances are still quite captivating.
I know, it's so cool! I've come to really fall in love with the ending from the O2 Academy in Brixton personally, but there's something so special about each one of them.
@@pencilhb13 My first favorite is the first time she tried in in 2012 Austin, Texas. You could see her get extremely moved by the audiences approval and reaction and then get lost in the music and that feeling. It's always strongest the first time, that feeling. My second favorite is Wacken 2013, partially because that was the first time I heard Floor sing it.
It's great, greater, greatest, beyond compare, brain expanding, face melting and then...in Buenos Aires...just transcendant. Wacken 2013 just carried through the genius to the whole performance.
@@pencilhb13 When Floor joined in 2012, every other day I would search "Nightwish" into youtube, sort by most recently uploaded, to watch all the new footage with Floor. I loved her Academy Brixton Ghost Love Score and was thrilled you included it here 😁 I love the "consensus" she reached with how she sings it now, but that all belting version was amazing too!
I strive to be as happy in life as Emmpu is when he hears Floor's high note.
It took a while, but when she nailed it . . . the rest is history. Floor the Valkyrie Goddess,. ETA after watching all the way through, this is Floor overload. I'm exhausted.
Always remember, Floor Jansen's biggest fan is Emppu Vuorinen.

The Colombia ending shows the preciousness of not only this band, but also Floor- she was not only proud, but her emotions and love for the band and the fans overwhelmed her. What a rare human being!

How have I not come across this yet?? This is easily one of the coolest things I've ever seen! Thank you so much for doing this, and sharing it with all of us....to think, my first time with Floor and Nightwish was watching the 2012 Buenos Aires performance on the Charasmatic Voice reaction. I remember thinking "damn, Nightwish is a new sound that I've not heard before. I really like that. I need to look into this band." And I did. That was summer 2023, and I was hooked right from the start. What a fantastic ride it's been! Thank you Nighwish. Thank you Floor. ❤✌🤘

Yes! The surprise on her face for a split second as she hits the note. Then the look on Emppu's face is priceless, he can't believe she was able to pull out that note either, singing while ill is no easy feat and that is a fantastic moment.
I love live music and video's like this for moments like that. Thank you to Nightwish and to PencilHB for putting this together with the backstory.

I was impressed with the more recent one from Colombia, given she was not in ideal health, but overall I have yet to see one better then Wacken open air from 2013. That is still the benchmark standard.
Her phrasing keeps changing so I appreciate her adventurousness. Still, the Wacken version was probably the easiest to sing and hit that high note cleanly.
Wacken 2013 sound mix was so perfect that comparision to anything else is almost unfrair.
I still get chills every time I listen to GLS and this video compilation is amazing. The one from Colombia especially at 9:38 is PHENOMENAL, it just shows what muscle memory and the body can do even when it's not at its best. Thank you for this compilation and of course to Floor and Nightwish from brightening up our days over and over again ❤

Nicely done! I've done a similar exercise before, going back to the very first time they played GLS with Floor and a few performances between then and Wacken, but nowhere this comprehensive. I actually even went back to Anette versions, to get an idea how GLS ending evolved, as she apparently came to a similar conclusion as Floor, that there is room for vocal play at the end. Interesting thing about your compilation, with so many different samples is that it dispels, a bit, this notion that NW is a live machine, without room for improv or variation, play it exactly the same every night. Thanks for putting this together.
That's really interesting input actually. I've heard Anette's version as well in the past and since she was always prone to freestyling too I noticed she did so in many of the songs, including GLS indeed. I'm sure yours is a really interesting compilation as well, I'll have to check it out if it's still out there! Thank you for your kind words :)

The one in Wacken is historical, but I must say the one in Buenos Aires 2012 is my favorite. Maybe it's the band reactions that sell it. Emppu and Tuomas are both having massive Floorgasms. And Floor herself, damn, just look at her. That fucking shot at 4:54 is like a lioness roaring!
That was cool to watch. You can tell she really worked on it to get it to where it is now. Thank you for your hard work on this video! The Columbia one got me almost teared up. She even had her hands on her face after Emppu patted her on the shoulder. You can feel the relief.

Dear Floor, since Thursday December 30th 2021 when I heard and saw Ghost Love Score (Wacken 2013) for the very first time, you are my new female hero. I never heard such a masterpiece before and either I never saw such a splashing performance. And the ending which is created by yourself is killing everyone indeed. I knew you before by your impressive contribution to Beste Zangers in 2019 but your vocals at Wacken 2013 were really surpassing.
The best in the world !! i knew that note was coming every time and it still sent chills through my body and made me tear up each time and I'm a 52 year old man.

I should put Wacken at the top and surprisingly Tampere 2015 at the bottom...but all the color changes amongst the others versions in such different concerts are beautiful...
