I'm running ArcoLinux XFCE. They have three different variants of XFCE. They have the standard ArcoLinuxL (which is their flagship); but they also have the "S" (minimal install) and the "S-lts" variants. Which ever one a person may choose...you can't go wrong with Arco. I love it and is my daily.
great video jack, i LOVE xfce, it's my favorite gui on Linux. Also StormOS has had a much needed update and we now have a welcome screen, etc. and i was wondering if you'd please do a updated video on it? Thanks man.
Way back in the day there was a young guy named Ian playing with his pet called Progeny. The first cd's he sent me to check out had a sweet lil package manger from Stormix..... Xandros "liberated" the code and it became Xandros package manager. Those three were superior to the thingie that became Ubuntu but the US peso didn't let it happen. The real Storm was white and powdery and blew into BC taking Stormix away.Bothered their noses so much they couldn't continue the project. Greed ,more than money ,killed Xandros-corel.He had it right there. It was near perfect. Ubuntu never would have had to happen. Ians goal was a business type Debian to slap redhat upside the head. Put a shot in your coffee this morning. Ian would have approved.
Xfce + i3wm +vala global menu user, looking forward to the wayland adaptation! i begun using it only because ubuntu studio used it, im more of a gnome and lxqt fan but since xfce is soooo stable and modular to TillingWM it got me!
Greatest takes time. Xfce and I've used it since CDE I've used unix before it was sold from att as it stands xfce is more powerful easier to use and configure than any desktop environment no matter what os it is on. It makes ms and Mac look like 💩😂
@@lukaslykus9599 😂 the name is actually Mustafa bin Abdullah like saying Jr in English. Bin is same as Jr. Yes as jack also loves xfce dig further you'll enjoy the history dating back to when at&t owned Unix and how the son of the president of ibm stole ibm bios to create the company compax. So much history. It is really great reading
And, in the last version, a sound were heardeth like a trumpet. A box came down from the sky and a fierce voice declared"let the box be open" In the box was a strange hardwood trap which appeared to be for rodents. It had some tint2. Each time I hop-check out(on metal) another OS. I choose the best. Xfce Then I pile a tricked out Openbox on top and set it to boot there. I think the boys at Mate do a very good project too. I have my eyes on this Parakeet(budgie) lately. We'll see. For complete n00bZ I immediately reach for Mint cinnamon(lmDE) If new~ish.,,,know there is a right click, drag, copy paste.I put them on MXfce If it's someone I hate I quickly zap them with plasma. When I occupy my own island and make the rules there shalt bee-eth a 25 letter alphabet. No K included.Qt eh ?
Xfce4-terminal is the very best all around terminal emulator made it supports everything 256 true colors it supports all icons and ttf it handles emojis really well without having to know 19 languages.
Anterogo Linux ie reborn os greatest GUI of Arch works 💯 out of the book even the xfce4 wallpaper and lightdm greeter user wallpaper works out of the box it looks vanilla however it is only because they actually follow the open source law about user space. Change the wallpaper and the bottom panel it works great for installing arch with a multi video card laptop such as mine with Nvidia and with hybrid and Intel. You can install it then add the needed Nvidia software and it installs turns on. It has pamac working out of the box Jack did an install of cute fish on reborn os . Anyone would really benefit from reborn os
Thanks for the reality check Rocky, that's incredibly helpful! I've always enjoyed transposing technical jumble into easily relatable concepts, but looking closer now, it does seem that I tossed it right out the window by letting the acronyms fly on by this time. 🤓
Xfce 🙌🏼 I have it as my backup Window Manager if I break my tiling WMs 🙂

One of your best! Laughed a lot through this one and really enjoyed learning the history of xfce.
Awesome, thank you Lukas!
Great video Jack as always 👍I love xfce its just versatile and the customisation options are endless. It's fast & lightweight. Xfce is a revalation
That's what draws me as well. Xfce is... like you said, a revelation!
You should keep doing linux history lessons....It is nice to know as a linux user.
Thanks Travis, that's good to know!

Sounds like a plan Ben, I'll check it out! 👍
Edit: The ISOs are unavailable at the moment, no files exist. I'll monitor & try again later.

K'mon man. Just sudo pacman -S knosestrap (comes with 3307 dependencies)
😂 it came from bsd who bought unix 😂
Jack, I truly like most of your content, but I glazed over after eight minutes of impenetrable acronyms in this one.
