Good load out. I would add a few of those hand and feet warmer packets. You know that when your hands and feet get cold, it makes things miserable. I keep a case of each in my winter box. If you have to walk anywhere, because the truck died and leave the family in the truck, it's nice to crack a few of those open, wrap a mirlar blanket around them and it'll produce enough warmth to keep them conformable. There's a few other things I would add but no one ever reads my posts anyway lol.
As an avid off roader (mainly jeeps). Falken is one of my favorites. Also, keep in mind that tire pressure can/will affect tire performance when it comes to different terrains. I let about 10-15psi out of my tires for snowy conditions
Cody, old firefighter here. I also carry a flathead axe married to a Haligan bar with some wedges to get people out of wrecked cars when seconds count. The Silky can also double as a windshield saw.
Last year i needed tires but there was no money for such things. The company i spent the last 25 yrs with closed the doors. I got a whole set of cheap tires for just over $600. They are noisy and lumpy but not wearing too bad but amazing grip in the swamp mud i get into occasionally. I cant complain for the price. It allowed me to get out and work.
Man the satisfaction of new tires is next level! Last year I bought 6 Mickey Thompson Baja boss AT 37-12.5 r20 and absolutely love them! I have a plow for my dually and it did amazing. North idaho^

Toothless is earning her pay as a barn cat. It's amusing seeing the title of the video change twice while watching all the way through, hehe. I really like my Falken Wildpeak AT3W's (they're up to the AT4W now); Paco knows what he's talking about. Still rough to pay $250 per tire when it was under $200 a couple years ago when I got them.
Duratrac Wranglers are the best all around tire you can buy. As a west coast Canadian that lives in snow 7 months of the year and drives up mountains in the winter i will never buy another tire
If you wanna carry a radio everywhere, get a radio holster.Knowing you , get a leather guy to customize one for you in the color you want….. just an observation. Great video as usual. 👍🙏
I drive a superduty as well and check my brakes just like you showed by looking at the outside pad. Well I just replaced a set of rotors because while my outside pads had a few seasons left, the inside was completely shot and down to the backing plate unbeknownst to me. I check both sides of the rotor know and advise others to do the same.
It's important to remember that with hollow fibre water filters, the water is difficult to fully empty once used. If the water inside the filter freezes, then the filter loses its function so they much be kept above freezing to be relied on.
Also, if you’re equipped with a winch, make sure you pull it out at least twice a year. Make sure that it not only works, but the cables get some movement in them as well.
In November 2024, Sumitomo Rubber (parent for Falken and Dunlop) abruptly closed their factory in Buffalo, NY and put 1500 Americans out of work without warning. I hope everyone takes this into consideration for future tire purchases. Thanks for the content!
With all the gear you like to haul around, Why haven't you installed one of those bed drawer systems? Are you keeping it open for hauling tuff without a trailer, or for putting a firefighting tank in? I can only imagine the amount of noise, from those boxes sliding around the back..
Glad you got the Kevlar DuraTracs. That was the only knock on the earlier version (easy to cut sidewalls). These should be great. I ran DuraTracs on my Tacoma in Colorado mountain snow, so you should be solid.
I've been through multiple sets of KO2 and Duratrac on half and 3/4 ton trucks as well as one set of Falkens. KO2 were no good in real deal heavy winter conditions and my Falkens were dry rotting before they were half worn. Duratrac is king, especially with studs.
Yah we have our summer tires and students winter tires. Much better. Cost more at first getting both but they last a very long time. Especially you can run the summer tires down to nothing. And once you have rims for both sets, you don't have to keep paying twice a year switching them out. You can change them yourself
Just bought new tires last week, I usually by used stuff but everything is so expensive it was only slightly more to get some name brand ones on sale so I've done that. IMO as long as it's name brand All Weather A/T for a truck used all year round, you'll be good. Would love to have the money to try them all. I think the K03 K02 and Wrangler duratrec are way overated though. Was extremely impressed with the firestone destinations XTs I had although they sucked in the rain (over 1/2 gone by the point there was a downpour). If I had tons of money I'd be trying hercules, Continental, Bridgestone, and the rest of the "name" brand that don't always get the same recognition. Prices are usually lower and performance tends to be better since they don't sell on reputation alone
Watch having the antenna hooked to your handheld radios like that the movement from the cable can work the internal antenna connections loose on a scanner and radio.
Same tire that is ran on the Ford Super Duty Tremor. I am on my second set now. Pretty good tire. Kinda loud once you get some wear on them. But my F350 Tremor likes them.
Falken Wildpeak AT4 (always used the AT3 but they just improved them). I swore by Duratrac before that but they weren’t the best in deep snow. I tried the KO2 once and that did not work well for me.
Toyo AT3! I run these on my personal truck along with a couple fleet trucks I have. They are snow rated and they were pretty well. They also come with a 55,000 mile warranty.
A smart man would have put the money spent on a goofy saw, towards sandbags in the bed of the truck to use as ballast. I've got 6 50Lb sandbags in my E-350 2WD and I don't get stuck in my part of Alaska. I've got a 2Ton come along along with some chains and a recovery strap for vehicle recovery. Even in my Ford Ranger 4x4 I've got at least 2 50Lb sandbags in the bed. My cousin has 4 50Lb sandbags in his Nissan D21 4x4 The E-350 has Cooper Discoverer M+S studded tires, and my Ranger has Firestone Winterforce studded tires.
My dad decades ago after I putting a new set of Firestone on my car said you’ll never wear them out they’ll blowout first he was right, me I find the best flat tires have Goodyear all over them, individual experience I do like the falken wild peak have had good luck with them
Probably should throw in a survival shelter bag, lot of glass in your roof and you could tape the bag over the windows should a branch or anything break it. Another thing that would be good is a kayaking or water rescue throw bag, from 5m to 30m and would help if someone was in a ditch or anything
Don't like your big truck? Why? That's weird. I think it's just right. I have a crew cab long bed as well. Love it. My wife's suburban is too small for me.
Have you heard of Built Right Industries? They make tech panels for the bed of your truck to store items like your shovel and retrieval gear and let you keep your bed space. Might be worth looking into. They even make it to where you can mount the Milwaukee pack out cases to it. Pretty neat. I have some on my f150.
i have a very extensive kit in my car. it consists of a tyre inflator, a first aid kit, a jump starter aaaaaaaaaaaaand a rain coat. that'll get me out of any trouble in the wild lonely roads of suburban south London where i can walk to my parents house in 20 minutes
Actually with the snatch block, anytime you add a part of line you increase your pulling power by 100%. So if you run to a snatch block on a hard point and back to your vehicle, if your winch is a 1000lb pull you get 2000lbs at half speed. And it goes up for each extra line you put in. That’s how cranes are able to lift 1 million pounds with line pull of only 50,000lbs, just add more parts of line. But after 32 parts friction actually decreases pulling power.
Might want to add a pair of clean dry socks. I am sure most of us that have lived anywhere with snow have stepped into some snow deeper than expected and ended up with wet socks. Its annoying and cold. A pair of dry socks can make the day a lot more pleasant.
I have had really great luck with mastercraft MXTs. I have ran them on my last 3 trucks they last really well, are aggressive, but don’t have a lot of road noise to them. Best thing is they are like $250 a piece
I have summer tires on one wheels and winter tires on different wheels. That way i simply change the wheels myself at home for free and i only go the tire shop once every several years when i buy new tires and the shop puts them on.
Yup I got scammed also asking for replacement for nitto trail grappler the gave me the ridge grappler not even close. Trail grappler are made in Georgia these ridge junk are terrible
I’ve run those Good year Duratracs for years. One of the best AT tires in my opinion. Has handled everything crappy situation I’ve put them in here in Idaho. I’m curious to see what your thoughts are on about them after a while.

Duratrac Wranglers are the best all around tire you can buy. As a west coast Canadian that lives in snow 7 months of the year and drives up mountains in the winter i will never buy another tire
Happy with my Toyo RT's on my Toyota 4x4. No issues in mud or snow.
Toyos for me, I've had them on ALL of my Tudras, but I also have studded snow tires, like driving on Velcro!😅😅
Buy from a vendor that is located where there is winter. Trust Nokian tyres. Studs are a must here.
Yup nothing better in the snow and ice than some factory studded nokian Hakkapeliittas.
Sounds like fun on a snow bank

I use scuba diving gloves for chaining. Waterproof and they don’t kill your dexterity.
I use the falken wild peak A/t I love them.
same wonderful tires. hard to get anything else after running these the last 2 years. Cross country, winter storms, offroading, etc. MUST HAVES
those are actually good
Only trust Falken's on my old Z28 Camaro for year's now.
That’s what I have on my Cummin’s. Second pair. They have been great. $1500 for a stock size though 🥴
Also, if you’re equipped with a winch, make sure you pull it out at least twice a year. Make sure that it not only works, but the cables get some movement in them as well.
I would add a spare winch line to your kit. It Can be used and an extension to dubble your reach. A second tree strap might be a good addition also.
Just put a set of KO3s on my Taco and I’m very happy with the results. Got caught in a surprise snowstorm in Idaho and they did great.
Thank You Cody with going with Goodyear eastcoast man approves 😊

Damn it...was just gonna leave a comment about how much I loved my fallen wildpeak at3s?...that's a bummer.
Coopers are good to go
The tires you got are the same tires we use on our utility trucks. Im a captain for the FS in California.

Full tank of gas and new tires. Those look great brother! Love mine, they’re the best.
Hate beating a tire off the hub. I just put a little anti seize where the rim contacts the hub. No beating necessary.
Fallen wildpeak AT4. Best tire around.
Have the Cooper Discoverer STT PRO on our F250, can drive thru a ft of snow or mud, love them
Good choice. I run Duratracs on my 2nd Gen Ram 2500. Did a review video...I'm pretty happy with them.
I've been through multiple sets of KO2 and Duratrac on half and 3/4 ton trucks as well as one set of Falkens. KO2 were no good in real deal heavy winter conditions and my Falkens were dry rotting before they were half worn. Duratrac is king, especially with studs.
I went with Firestone Destination XT’s. Those Goodyears look good also.

My mom put on her 1 ton Ram KO 2’s 1,600 installed at her local tire shop back a few months ago.
Same tire that is ran on the Ford Super Duty Tremor. I am on my second set now. Pretty good tire. Kinda loud once you get some wear on them. But my F350 Tremor likes them.
That tip about the snow on snow was actually super cool to learn!
Blizzak are my choice. I build cabins in the snow filled mountains all year long.
Great tire
We used to call them snatch-em straps ! And yes they had a slight rubber band effect!
Falken Wildpeak AT4 (always used the AT3 but they just improved them). I swore by Duratrac before that but they weren’t the best in deep snow. I tried the KO2 once and that did not work well for me.
That's the exact reason I went for the portable ARB Twin with the alligator clips for direct battery hookup.
Toyo AT3! I run these on my personal truck along with a couple fleet trucks I have. They are snow rated and they were pretty well. They also come with a 55,000 mile warranty.

The E-350 has Cooper Discoverer M+S studded tires, and my Ranger has Firestone Winterforce studded tires.
You won't be disappointed with the Duratracs. They do like to be rotated more often than other brands.
I love the way a vehicle rides and drives with new tires.
My dad decades ago after I putting a new set of Firestone on my car said you’ll never wear them out they’ll blowout first he was right, me I find the best flat tires have Goodyear all over them, individual experience I do like the falken wild peak have had good luck with them

I loved the in depth gear breakdown, Wranglerstar! Thanks for imparting wisdom and being willing to receive some tips too. Keep up the great work 👍🔥
Falken Wildpeaks are the go to in Appalachia oilfield
Don't like your big truck? Why? That's weird. I think it's just right. I have a crew cab long bed as well. Love it. My wife's suburban is too small for me.
King Shocks! Garden Grove CA. Nice choice!
I have these on my Colorado and they are bulletproof
Take a look at Casey Ladell's recovery bag. Yakim ropes!
Have you heard of Built Right Industries? They make tech panels for the bed of your truck to store items like your shovel and retrieval gear and let you keep your bed space. I really like the Goodyear wranglers 👍

Minecraft tunes at 5:10 really sent me back in time.
Mickey Thompson BAJA Boss A/T still made in the USA. And they are 3 Peak rated for snow.
Just got Nokian Outpost nAT tires, US made and I like them a lot so far
1 and back is double. There and back again is quadruple. 😊
I have had really great luck with mastercraft MXTs. I have ran them on my last 3 trucks they last really well, are aggressive, but don’t have a lot of road noise to them. Best thing is they are like $250 a piece
Don’t forget to get an all wheel alignment to that nice truck.
Here in Idaho. Falken Wildpeaks ATs give me the Fizz 🎉
The oil and gas guys over here in PA buy the heck out of K02s and Duratracs. If they keep buying them, that's saying something
5:25 is that minecraft? epic
I have summer tires on one wheels and winter tires on different wheels. That way i simply change the wheels myself at home for free and i only go the tire shop once every several years when i buy new tires and the shop puts them on.
I got 2 years and 120,000 on my first set of Terra Grapplers and going on 110,000 on my second set. No complaints here.
Yup I got scammed also asking for replacement for nitto trail grappler the gave me the ridge grappler not even close. Trail grappler are made in Georgia these ridge junk are terrible
Goodyear tires! Wise choice my friend👍
Toothless: "Dinner is served". 😂
My KO2 were terrible. They were never good balance, they didn’t last long and they actually don’t have a good load rating for a 1 ton
The Ford is nice but I think the war band needs an upgrade… an armored cyber truck with a 50 cal might work
Great video as always
Michelin. DEFENDER LTX PLATINUM LT275/65R20/E 126/123S
They have served me well thus far.

I’ve run those Good year Duratracs for years. One of the best AT tires in my opinion. Has handled everything crappy situation I’ve put them in here in Idaho. I’m curious to see what your thoughts are on about them after a while.
Absolutely love duratracs
Great video Cody, just put my retrieval kit together last week.
Be sure that it you have to use your fire extinguisher, those chemicals are highly corrosive to metal.
Be sure to wash them off ASAP if you plan on saving the vehicle.
I also respect how Mrs. W stays thrifty! 😂
You definitely need Hakkapeliitta tires.
I always bought good year but iam done. 3 out of the last 5 sets have had bubbles in the side walls and i see it on others. I dont over fill them. How can a company make tires for 100 years and cant do it right
All I would add is some cable ties, or zip ties I think you call them.
I don’t know a real proho would have had some Anti-Seize on those hubs
🇺🇸
AT tires just aren’t good in the snow and terrible on ice. The compound is way too hard. If you want the best you need two sets of wheels and tires. One for your ATs and one for your Blizzaks, Nokian, Xice….etc
I live in a snowier area than you do and that’s how I equip all my vehicles.
