Hi Lauren, is there an official USAF glossary guide to all the terms used in Airfield management? I’m trying to find the definition for “flight line”, “Ramp”, etc. a diagram showing different parts of the airfield would be great. Thanks!
Jessica Thomson YES! please talk to you recruiter about availability. If you want to be guaranteed this job make sure you sign your contract for this job. It’s a 1C7x1 AFSC. Your recruiter will know what that is. Do not let them tell you otherwise. I went in open general and was given this job, it wasn’t my first choice but I am 100% thankful for it. It’s fun, you learn a lot, and you manage an airfield. There is so much we do! The career field is low manned and would be honored to welcome new faces. It’s a great job, I enjoy it. Let me know if you have any questions! ☺️
Jessica Thomson it just depends really. I have been given the opportunity to travel many places! I’ve been deployed and been on a few TDY’s around the states. I also know some people who haven’t gotten this chance, juussstttt YET. It all depends. I can’t really guarantee anything, and that goes for ANY job in the military.
Sharnelle Charles it truly depends on each base. All hours are not the same. I am currently at a 24/7 Ops base and work three 12 hour shifts, and off another three days, and so on. Our Ops is manned at all times. So we rotate shifts. It’s a nice schedule. But some of my other airfield managers work 8 hour shifts, close weekends, or work a few days out of the week. I can’t speak on behalf of all Airfield Ops locations other than mine. I love my job and I think our schedules work out perfectly. I also have enough time outside of work to enjoy personal life, which was extremely important to me. 😄
Aww I’m hoping to get this job! My 1st choice!!
Just got this job, can’t wait!
How do you like it?
I hope you see this.. when you chose this afsc, was it immediately available??
