I relate, bro. I used to care so much about winning to a point where it affected me on doing a bettervin game. The moment i just calmed down and just examined my opponents, then i started to get better and got top 3. The game was vf5, i am glad i overcame it.
Tekken needs Tekken Force back, especially with the 2 player co-op from T6. Me and my older cousin would beat each other in VS mode then beat up waves of NPC's in campaign mode. Variety makes you want to play the game longer and is a good break from Ranked.
I found trying to get into the real competitive mindset is when i stopped enjoying it. Rarely play online anymore, but you bet your sweet ass that I'll have all night sessions when mates come round. Fighting games with mates and a few drinks is some of the best times.
I've noticed in this new esports gen that fighting games are moving in, more and more of the players are treating them like these ELO grind simiulators where thats all the fun in the game lies. Maybe its a genrational thing, or at least thats what it feels like these days especially with all this live service brainrot messing with how people engage with not just games but media in general on some treadmill type shit lol. I don't wanna get too rambly, but that's what comes to mind...
You get into it... And I actually think THE BIGGEST issue surrounding most multiplayer games of ANY genre is the impact "online opinions" from content creators and influencers can have on the casual perception of the state of a game... And while that can be a good, and in the past has instigated some titles making massive sweeping changes to overhaul a game that just wasn't cutting it... FAR MORE OFTEN online discourse has done little more than cause a game to get more hate than it deserves from people who either had a casual interest and understanding but no real stakes in the game, had no opinion to begin with, or were waiting for the voices in the community to tell them how to feel about a game. And as sad as it is, most people are followers and will adopt whatever the most prevalent narrative is, whether it's accurate or not. And even a reasonable person can be swayed or misled if they are exposed to too much negativity surrounding a something. So when the guys who are playing the game at the ABSOLUTE highest level in the world are taking issue with the game, then people think, _"If the pros are unhappy the game must be broken, or there must be something fundamentally wrong, that impacts every level of play",_ when in reality that usually couldn't be further from the truth. First off, the game is played so differently at that level that it may as well be an entirely different game... It's like saying if NBA players are having issues with a rule or regulation that it has a knock-on effect for the people playing pickup games in the park. Or that if a professional driver doesn't like using a certain kind of vehicle in because of the weight and suspension that the car isn't beyond good enough to be driven by some regular person. But EVEN WITH THE PROS, I feel like at least a decent portion of their complaining comes from them being so used to how previous iterations of the game played, frustrated that they have learn to utilize the new systems, and frustrated that new names are threatening to overtake or challenge the positions they once held mostly unopposed, that they are crying more than they are adapting. And the reason that can have a negative impact on the state of the game is because if the devs start trying to make the game THE MOST viable it can be for the absolute smallest group of players, it can actually make the game less fun for nearly everyone else because things that weren't issues at most levels of play can be nerfed or buffed into becoming issues. Now that doesn't mean that changes don't need to be made or that every fighting game is in a great place... But a game needing improvements doesn't mean it can't be enjoyed, nor does it mean it isn't wholly competitively viable at most levels of play.
I play Fighting games and video games in general because they allow me to do things that I'm medically excluding from doing such as competing in martial-arts tournaments!
I actually just got back into tekken after a month and I’m not that good but before I wasn’t finding problems with losing or small mental errors but now it’s like I’m losing all enjoyment for it idk if it’s meant for me now
I just want more single player content in fighting games. Asking for coherent story modes is too much these days. Of course, Netherrealm hasn't produced a good one since MK9 either so...
@Drooly That's what I always liked about the DBZ games. Sure, they're often a balancing shitshow, but soooo much single player content was always crammed in.
the one genre where it's more fun to think about playing the game than actually playing them imo
Tactical shooters
Yeah it is important too not lose the initial spark that got you interested
Yup Exactly
For me biggest problem is to enjoy these games alone/online, when im playing with irl friend of mine i can go on for HOURS without problem.
playing in person is definitely much better, playing online can feel like a lonely experience lowkey

yeahh its really something that I never thought id run into, but I'm glad you overcame it!

yeah its sad to see coop modes don't really exist nowadays, for me MK9s coop mode was a game changer to hop on with a friend as well!
How tf do you not have more views, this is great!
Thanks! :)

that's a good point as well, mk9 story mode is one of the few FG story modes I actually replayed quite a lot too

Drool indeed is talking :)
