Thanks so much for this interview. I came here because I’ve admired Florentin’s chaconne video for a few months now and think it’s some of the most extraordinary playing I’ve ever heard. Very interesting to hear he has period performance in his background because you hear that in his playing plus his bowing hand is the most incredibly accomplished and intricate I’ve ever seen in a bass player. He certainly could teach the violinists a thing or two. He accomplishes his goal - you forget what instrument he’s playing.. just playing the chaconne and killing it. I’m a fan.
I did not know this musician or this rendition before. After listening to the Chaconne I immediately suscribed to his channel. He is nothing short of amazing. Thanks, Geoff. You have the best double bass channel in RUclips.
Don't think I could switch tunings without hiding away for a few months to rewire my brain and forget 4ths. I like his philosophy of the bass as a tool. He's a very impressive musician.
What an interview, the bass as canvass, three hundred dollars for alternative tuning, and "No, it's not Justin Bieber" a second bass for addition preset alternate tuning, the chap had the interviewer on his toes, not always an easy thing. Great go of it !!!
Love this guy.
