EWF was a huge part of my 70’s adolescence! Isley Brothers, Maze, O’Jays, Brothers Johnson Stylistics, Bobby Womack, Dramatics, Enchantment, Parliament Funkadelic, Marvin Gaye , Enchantment, the list goes on. Music was All Love and I am So Thankful that my generation had that! We know what instruments are and sound like when played by true Artists! Let me Please add James Brown, Aretha Franklin, Donna Summer, Chic , Norman Connor and Roy Ayers!
Been convinced long ago i was born in the wrong era!! I was pose be born in the 70's but instead i was born in the 80's 😢😢😢 im 40 years old lawd this music 🎵 back in the 70's was IT!!!!!!!! ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
We lost sax player Andrew Woolfolk this week. I've seen him and the late Don Myrick light up the stage during EWF tours in the 70s. At their peak, EWF had one of the greatest horn sections in pop music. Listen to the live Gratitude LP for a taste of their talents.
Its my eve going into 2020 and I'm doin what I do every new years eve. PHILIP PHILIP PHILIP no one does it like him. He is the Greatest and this song is the greatest love the sax also. Omg. Keep on keeping on Philip!!!!!!
Phillip and these players including Phoenix Horns play always beyond my imagination. As someone wrote, it’s so sad that we’ve lost the great saxophone player Andrew Woolfolk. This is a huge loss for every EW&F fans. His soulful plays always brought me to the different world. Thank you for posting.
He played the shit out of the saxophone...!!!!! He had the baby talking. Now this is the shit this is how music is supposed to SOUND...!!!!!!! Good as hell.
💜🖤💜🎶 🌟 EWF 🌟 🎶 💜🖤💜 💎Gifts from another planet 💎 Timeless and supreme ✨️ Andrew Woolfolk oh my goodness 💜🖤💜 Phillip Bailey oh my goodness 💜🖤💜 Sony great to see you away from your 🥁. You did a great job and hopefully clarified for those who do not listen to words,is that this is not a love song. Sony E 💜🖤💜
I feel ya about the rapping... But one thing it does is clarify that this is not a happily ever after love song... I know a couple that made this there wedding song.. I guess they didn't listen to the lyrics clearly. Phillip clearly says that after he wakes from a night of love making that he is no longer hypnotized and all of the reasons for making love to one another was a lie. He can't find the reasons to hold her or love any longer. He's done! lol The song is so beautiful that I can see how easily it can be mistaken for a love song though.
No my friend you have misunderstood the lyrics, this is definitely a complicated Love Song. Philip Bailey clearly states that he's "longing to love her, just for a night kissing and hugging and holding her tight please let me love you with all my might" So in his mind he wanted initially to just love her for one night, but after he loved her he could not turn the love off. He is obviously conflicted in his feelings and doesn't know how to reconcile them because they are so strong. Then he goes on to state "The reasons that were here, the reasons that we fear our feelings won't disappear" remember he thought he could just love her for one night but now he's realizing those feelings won't disappear, now think about it what feeling doesn't ever disappear? "Love" it appears he is trying to deny what he is feeling so he comes up with all the reasons that there are a lie, but then he states "after all the reasons why they are a lie *Love* was left aside" in other words he can't say that they are a lie because they do not love each other because he actually is in love with her that's why he says love as a reason for them being a lie was left aside😉. It is a tricky play on words but if you analyze it closely it makes sense. He initially was just looking to have a good time or one night stand but ended up falling in love😉. *Also important to note is that this little rap interval was not part of the original song.*
If you're aged 11 or 18 years old, you _could_ just hit or belt those high notes, because sounding that hitting those notes may do sound like a girl, but that really isn't the _exact same_ difference. Doesn't matter the age of either vocal pitch you're trying to sing, no matter the gender of your voice, you just need to practice more, so that you could hit these notes better.
What happened to the sax man here...I guess he overstayed his welcome and they booted him out of EW&F. He was a talented guy, funky and soulful. Didn't have a solo career at all. But what's with all the hop, skipping and jumping around? Very silly... LOL
SMH.... R n B , Soul is completely dead when a rapper openings this beautiful classic...EWF is now officially a caricature of themselves. Amazing vocals, sax solo, but ain't no way I'd utilize a rapper on this (call me a 'purist'. I guess when you've actually played music, you have a different perspective than most.) I know I'm going get the hate comments. But, before you start, I thoroughly enjoyed Snoop's rendition of Herbie Hancock's 'Cantaloupe Island' on the Kennedy Center Awards. Perfectly---brilliantly-placed! There's a time and place for everything. EWF has dropped the ball for the past 20 years! And their being COMPLETELY "COMMERCIALIZED" is why a lot us devoted fans can no longer bare going to their concerts.
I love Maurice the most and I have some DVDs, but for some reason when Philip is singing, it is muted. I'm sorry. I do n’t want to hear Philip ’s solo falsetto…

Who was the guy at the beginning ? (Rapper)
I was thinking who the hell is playing drums and i forgot it must be Ralph. I forgot he started off playing drums with the band
só para lembrar vc.....
sing that song & play that damn horn...man that was bad as hell in a gooooood way!!
Throw in Sonny Emory bustin' the rhyme for the trifecta!
If Sonny is on rhyme, who's banging those drums?
Ralph Johnson 🥁
I don't think nobody can make a saxophone Talk like he made that sex talk
Anyone knows who played drums since Sonny E. was rapping throughout the song?
i would assume ralph johnson
@@richlorrd Yep
Ralph Johnson
Don Myrick would be proud.
