  • I'm so thankful for Dave and the folks at ENKI for creating such a fantastic product! All of us who travel with our instruments know how heart-wrenching it can be to drop your baby off with the airline baggage handlers, crossing your fingers and hoping that your axe will make it to your destination (and in one piece). Thanks to the AMG-2, that's no longer an issue for me :)

    I love mine. Dave has been amazing to work with. I met him at NAMM several years ago when he was showing the first generation. I'm sure I wasn't the only one, but I did recommend the removable lid... I've seen several other reviews where people ask about how to lock it. There is a hole near the latch that you can run a padlock through.

    Do the side walls bend in easily?

    I love that you used skateboarding wheels, I used to skate when I was younger. Interested in this case.

    Is that a Gibson Grabber in there? The skateboard wheels were not only a great idea but the Powell Peralta wheels look awesome! The wider the wheels are the less prone they would be to bend an axle again I would assume. I would recommend getting Grade 8 bolts if they ever do bend again. Bolts are 'graded'; 8 being the strongest. Have you ever noticed those little marks on the head of a bolt? They let you know what grade (strength) they are. If they don't have marks, then they are grade 3 (fairly weak); one mark would be grade 4; two marks would be grade 5, and so on. If they have five marks (kinda looks like a star or asterik), then they are grade 8 (3+5=you guessed it, 8). Slightly confusing and definitely long winded...but I'm sure this would be the end of bent axle bolts! Bass Clef '):

    Great review! I tricked out my Enki dual guitar case to better accommodate 2 Les Pauls, and added lights. I love your skateboard wheel idea. That’s gonna be next!

  • @GunnySmithApple
    @GunnySmithApple 5 лет назад +1

    So are there zero overage costs when flying with this case? I know it’s under weight, but is it within dimensional parameters?

    • @deadbeatstudios
      @deadbeatstudios  5 лет назад

      I've only had issues with flying American, but any guitar case is oversize for them. It'll cost you an extra $200 if you fly American (without media credentials) no matter what :/

    • @jason.braatz
      @jason.braatz 5 лет назад

      I'm deep into researching whether or not to buy one of these, here's what I've found: Most airlines consider >62 inches total dimensions oversized, so while a very slim guitar hardcase could potentially slip under any single bass case you'd feel comfortable checking won't. Most airlines also have an upper limit on how oversize they'll allow (Southwest / Delta is 80, for example) but also have musical instrument policies that allow substantially larger and which this thing should fit within no problem. I'm personally sort of thinking that if bringing one bass is always going to require paying the oversize fee I might as well bring two.

    • @deadbeatstudios
      @deadbeatstudios  5 лет назад

      @@jason.braatz I've only had trouble with American - you need a media pass or license or else they'll charge you $400 extra :( But everyone else is fine, and I fly all the time.

    • @kztex
      @kztex 5 лет назад +1

      @@deadbeatstudios I argued with them and referred them to their musical instrument policy. I didn't get any charges. But that was one trip.

    really nice!!
    ive been quite desperate for a proper flightcase
    i ordered a scott dixon triple row case 7 months ago and they have horrifying customer service and ive not gotten my case from them so im sort of looking elsewhere now and next step would be trying to get my money back from scott dixon and put them into ENKI if they ship worldwide?
    i wonder if the bass case would be fit for a rickenbacker4003?

    • @deadbeatstudios
      @deadbeatstudios  5 лет назад

      The benefit here is you won't pay weight overages; with 3 basses you'll definitely pay extra. This thing ships with two basses for under 50 lbs :) A very big deal if you fly as often as I do. Hope that helps!
