When Cry plays these types of games he always gets so genuinely upset. And I always feel so bad. And I can hear his breathing shaking and it just makes me so sad. Like this one, and Ib. That one made him really upset, and I just feel so bad and stuff. But it's incredible how into these games he gets. That's why I love watching his videos. That passion.
I was going to question why this game wasn't just called "Alice," since Richard was in such a small portion of it, but then I realized how much his actions influenced Alice's storyline, and how they both came together
I cant begin to explain how much I loved this game. It somehow struck a cord with me. I don't know why and don't know how; but it did. This is probably one of my favorite playthroughs of all time. Even though this game was "pixely" and didn't have graphics like "Brothers: A Tale Of Two Sons" or some other 21st generation game; it was fucking beautiful. I'm really glad I'm one of those people who go back to watch old playthroughs they had missed because if I didn't, I never would have seen this. I have only been watching Cryaotic videos for about 2 years now but I think they are wonderful. Cry always seems to put a feeling into the game and truly falls in love with the characters and/or story. he takes everything seriously which is a good thing and at the same time can crack a joke. He can act really mature or like a big idiot (microwaved mashed potatoes? REALLY?!) but in a good way. I am really glad I found Cry's channel and can often be cheered up by his videos. Even when they are super serious instead of funny. It's amazes me how when I'm sad some mystery man can cheer me up without making me laugh or smile. So if Cry is reading this, I doubt it, know that you're a really cool person and, as cliché as it sounds, if you weren't making content I don't know what I would be doing with my life. So thank you. Thank you, so fucking much.
Are you two not cold?! You are like standing in the middle of loads and loads of snow and it's snowing and you only wear short tshirts?! I froze just seeing you stand there!
Apparently, there are 5(?) possible endings for this game. When I played through this game, I got one of the various "bad" endings. :( 3 of the 5 endings end poorly, so this ending isn't really all that depressing in comparison to most of the others. Also, it's not really possible to make a sequel, because of the various endings. ^^; Not going to spoil them, but it's impossible for all the endings to be continued in a linear fashion.
So hey, thanks for the awesome playthrough! Pretty fantastic hearing my dialogue narrated and seeing people dig the game. :D Glad you got this particular ending too, it's my favourite of the five (and the one I consider the 'full' ending). So yeah, really glad people have enjoyed watching our game too. THANKS.
Wow, that was quite a story/game there. Just pulled you right in. I have to say that much of the credit goes to you and your ability to use your voice to portray the emotions of the characters which made the story so vivid. Thanks.
Finally came back to this since Minx started it up and I remembered back when this was going up I watched the first episode and never finished. Have to say I'm glad I finally did. This story is amazing! Disappoints me greatly the amount of people who commented saying they didn't understand what happened. But anyway, still awesome! I need to go back more often through your playlists to see what I skipped out on back in the day. I like to preserve some for days when I have nothing new to watch. I was playing to watch your bioshock infinite when I finished bioshock one, but I don't think I'll be finishing that anytime soon so I'll start now!
Thank you for playing this and sharing it with us Cry. Your passion and attention to detail in this game were so comforting. Last episode was spent in tears and most of this one was too... I started watching this because I've been binge watching a lot of RPGs you've played (Schuld, Desert Nightmare). It seems like I've found one of the best ones so far. This was such an emotional story that touched on so many ideology. The relationship between Alice and Barney... just everything about this game was amazing. I found myself thinking as soon as I realized it was coming to an end, "I wish I could experience this like new over and over again already." I spent all day watching this series. Thank you again Cry.
Cry you'd made this play through so much better I really felt the emotion from the characters in your voice. Absolutely amazing. You should look into voice acting! Anyway amazing game, I really enjoyed :)
If you remember, earlier in the game while Alice was down in the trap-door inside the church, two men entered and began talking to Barney, one of them said "when I'd feel really hopeless, my father would take me to one side" etc. Richard says the same in this video confirming that it was him who was in the church at that stage in the game and who met Barney. Cry just paused because he realized this when Richard said it
I freaked out when Richard started talking about the Brussels sprouts and the tomatoes bullshit. Right before they even got out of the facility and he was talking about the bunker and all that other crap i had a hunch. And now WTF RICHARD!
Bobby Harris Can you explain to me what the big deal was? I got that Richard was trading people to the Polar Bears and that lead to the murder upstairs and the other dead bodies, but I don't understand what he actually did to Barney/Alice? Other than not kill Barney even though he was afraid of Barney ratting him out to the Polar Bears.
One reason I love watching cry's videos is the passion. He gets so emotionally attached to the characters, also he gets so into the voice acting! I watch pewds for laughs and cry for passion with a dash of laughs
I should really play more indie games, they have really fucking better stories than most of the crap we get in both games and film. A twist that I really didn't see coming and... well, that was a great ending, and I don't even care who the guy in the confession booth was, it's something that needs to stay a mystery and is only good with it as a mystery, like why the Others take babies away, but of course that's been ruined and I mean sure I want to know these kind of secrets, but the story is only strengthened by the mystery of who that guy was or where the Reapers came from. But... yeah, that's really all I have to say, fuck loved that ending to, I would pick it up but, I know what happens though so, meh. Anyway, thanks for playing this Cry.
How come Alice said 'the moment I knew who you were from the photograph'? When did she ever see Richard or his families faces? Also I don't understand how she knew the code was on the photo when Richard himself didn't. I'm very curious about the other endings, is there any way you can save Barney? Is there one where Alice and Richard stay together or possibly fall in love?
Also I wish they'd explained why the prison was abandoned, there can't have just been one guard since there was that email exchange between two people, and even if they left surely someone would be communicating with the prison to check on it. Also what about the other prisoners? Were they just left to die? And come to think of it who arrested Alice and how did the police find out?
Ahem. Let me explain. When Alice entered the church and Barney had found a way to turn on the weather machine or whatever it was, it was saying a code, and she wrote it down on the back of the photo which Richard had left there on the desk. That is partially hinted to by him and the other Polar coming into the church when Alice was in the basement and they were talking about how they had come back to get something they forgot, and also when Richard comes back to his cell after they had begun to escape and says "I can't believe I almost forgot this again". Richard probably didn't recognize the code for two possible reasons: either he didn't really bother to study the back of the photo, or Alice had written it down word-for-word and it wasn't exactly eight straightforward numbers. I'm guessing the prison was abandoned because somebody for some reason had come in and killed all the guards, as hinted to by the one that had been left hanging (probably lynched), and the trail of blood leading out to the doorway. The other prisoners probably did starve to death because a) they didn't have as much information and probably didn't have a handbook judging by the fact that Richard didn't have one either, and b) they didn't have as close a camaraderie with the prisoners opposite them like Richard and Alice did. As for how Alice got arrested, she probably turned herself in at some point because of the guilt over killing her son or maybe because there would be better living accommodations than living out in the snow without food or money, even if the prison cells weren't as nice as those. Hope that helped a little.
The guards being killed could also have something to do with the "hackers" that the prison sent a notice out for who could have been Polars trying to get in and get supplies.
Wow, that was a....pretty dang serious game in the end. I wasn't sure what to make of it at first but it got very intense very quickly, I really enjoyed watching this series! For all the tragedies and hopelessness it was oddly calming to watch, and your amazing reading of the text was very much a part of that, it was clear you were very immersed and affected by the story, it really shows in the emotion in your voice. Thanks for another brilliant LP, looking forward to whatever you choose next!
Wow. Just...wow. This game was very nice. It kept me very intrigued. It didnt have much gaming time, but i loved the entire storyline. It was perfection. And all of it got to me. Oh the feels. This was very enjoyable, i loved it.
Thank you for taking us through this, Cry. I was already feeling emotionally torn and crying and then your voice started faltering and went low and I just bawwwled my eyes out ;-;
Wow. This is really good. Probably one of my favorites, besides Corpse Party and Ib. Made me cry at least more than twice. Thank you Cry for making a lets play of this. Without you, I have no idea what I would do without you. My hero. Take care.
Cry, you NEED to become a voice actor or narrator!!! Your are simply and utterly amazing!! You make everything so.... AMAZING and emotional. You have the perfect time and the perfect voice!!! I can totally see you easily become one of the BEST voice ppl ever!! You would get a ton of offers!!! Love you cry!! Your amazing!
Honestly, this is why I love watching Cry's videos. He...makes them so realistic, and I love it. He was so quiet. I felt like it was him in the actual game, and it was simply perfect.
Cry your amazing!! Your my number one role model ever!!! When ever I'm sad you always seem to cheer me up when I'm watching your videos!! I just wanna day thanks for uploading and taking your time for makin me and other RUclipsrs happy C: your the best ever Cry!!!
Fuck all my feels, yo. When Barney started with the coughing, I was like, fuck. I REALLY like him, and he's going to die. I rarely like kid characters. Why couldn't he be an annoying twit and not a brave little lion!!!!? 2013...wow. I like Cry from the past as much as I like current Cry.
What really differs Cry from other gamers is that he puts his emotions into reading the dialogues, instead of just randomly mumbling like the others, making the whole play through more emotional and letting us enjoy it more. Good job cry love you x (:
For some reason i just couldn't get into this game even if i wanted to altough i liked all characters. I just want to know why there was so little snow even if it was been snowing ages and at that one part where you used ladders for the lake, wouldn't lake be completely solid? For me game wasn't that rememberable. Also devs could had added little more music, felt like half of the game was snow blowing and those parts where i heard music there was sometimes annoying cut when it started to repeat.
fucking hell... that was amazing. good job cry, in the reading and dialogue and stuff, i love how you put so much emotion in each character. You're amazing.
The ending makes no sense. Flashbacks are Alice telling the story to Richard. Richard KNOWS that Alice heard him telling brussel sprouts story to Barney. Why would he try to cheer here up with that joke?
Because while we, the viewers, are experiencing it verbatim, you don't orally tell people stories by quoting the characters several hundred times. We got to see the story through Alice's eyes and memories, but Richard would have had to have sufficed with just details and simplified dialogues.
She found his family photo in the church, it's what she wrote the code on. Thus, she'd seen the photo before he showed her in the prison. As soon as he showed her, she realised who he was.
Nah man, MAYBE, but very unlikely. My money is on a neurotoxin **cough** zombocalypse **cough** or nuclear detonations leaving ruins scattered throughout a fractured planet called "Earth".
I understand why some people don't like the ending, but I find it better than those happy endings where the guy gets the girl at the end and starts a new life with her like nothing happen.
Wow! That was something! I had started watching this a while ago, but only got to the end of Ep . 2 before I cut off from it. It has been probably a year or so before I came back to this series. But I must say, I just powered through the last 6 episodes the past few days, and this was really enjoyable!
it's 2 years later after first watching this play through and now i'm re-watching it and still have the same emotions as last time.. I love games like this
What a wonderfully deep game, of course I knew there weren't going to be any happy endings because of the way the game was playing out but still affected me just the same, can't help but shed tears for this one.
This story was so great. I felt bored like someone who had been stuck in prison but the story Alice was telling kept me coming back. That's what is great about a story though when you feel just like the characters would.
This one is really something different. It's a story I've never seen before. That is rare, even more because it wasn't because of what happened. Everyone pretty much knew what was going to happen to some degree or other, and it went to the full degree. Rather, for me it was because of who people were. Richard & Alice took a whole other dimension of the plot and used it in a way that might affect the way I think about anything I watch, play, or read for at least a good while. Lucky Cry played it.
Alright, so attempting to analytically contemplate this... Richard was Sara's father. He and a few others remained in the housing construction where Barney and Alice assumed shelter. Richard was then drafted away to war, but, instead, he deviated. He pretended to go, masquerading his absence, but remained with his daughter and the two boys, Caleb and Jake, as well as Yorkie, whom I'm assuming was the 50-something year old man. Obviously, supplies grew scarce, so they were coerced to establish bargains with the Polars. They provided them with shelter and they reprieved food and clothing. And medicine. However, conniving little shits they were, the polars were unsatisfied with their compensation. They threatened to kill everyone and exemplify Richard's crime. I'm assuming that this is when Jake and Caleb grew absolutely intolerant of the polars and killed one of them, the one concealed underneath the church. They then fled, but eventually separated. I infer that they may have conceded to commit suicide. Meanwhile, Yorkie and Richard, accompanied by Sara, escaped as the Polars pursued Jake and Caleb, promising the others that they'd return after ensuring safety. But they didn't. Rather, the Polars reassumed their positions in deterioration of the housing, and implemented a dictatorship. Eventually, they tortured and killed the remaining refugees; the bodies Alice encountered on the second floor. The Polars abandoned the house to persecute the remainder of the victims, demolishing the stairwell so nobody could uncover their "secret". So, when Richard and Yorkie subsequently came back to retrieve the others, they found only the desecrated building. They left there, assuming no one was left inside, and ventured to the church/ weather station to gather things. They saw Barney there and, after presuming that his father was a polar, left the church and returned to their newfound sanctuary. However, Richard could not relinquish the guilt. He felt responsible for everyone's trauma and suffering, and he resorted to turning himself in for that preceded crime of avoiding military composure.
+OrcheeisanEmoMeme NEVERMIND! Evidently, the Polars provided this novel shelter and Jake and Caleb killed everyone. Including Lucy, the "insane old bat" that they were keeping simply for sake of human trafficking! FUCK ME!
I think part of the appeal of Cry is that we don't know much about him. If you start to question everything it starts to lose it's wonder and magic. Plus he's not obligated to do anything, so we should just cherish the fact that he is making videos for the public. Yet people still complain about trivial things.
Cry, if you hadn't been the one reading all this, I would've hated this story. But because of you, I finished it. So thanks for making a crappy story really entertaining ^-^
Wow. That was great. I felt like this could have been a movie. In fact, I can see it as a movie, but then at some point Cry mentioned that this reminded him of a movie called 'The Road'. At first the title was lost on me, but then I typed it in Google and I said to myself, "Hey! Wait, I have seen that!" Nice. :)
I CALLED it! Richard being the guy who told the Brussels sprouts story, idk how i knew because I've never seen this but i knew it would return somehow! my mind and emotions are just so mixed from this story ;-;
the guy in the confession booth used to be a meteorologist working from within the church bunker, he lived in the house so it could be sarge who left the note in the attic or yorkie with the discharge note from the army.... or he could be the guy in the window in the kids drawing i doubt it was the guy with the gun cause i think that's Richard with his daughter, but it was deffiantly someone living in the house.
There is a moment in this video where Cry barely says anything at all, yet somehow manages to covey everything that needed to be said. Because he's just that good.
I cried twice in this series. This is a pixelated indie game, and I cried twice! Cry is so moving and really gets you into the story line. Holy fuck that was intense!!
Cry should just become a voice actor or a story teller or something. There is nothing this guy can't make you feel. Especially the feels in this video.
Alice wrote what "the robot" (Weather Station radio) told to write, which in actuality was Richards group and his way of smuggling goods in and out of the prison so it was the code for the door of getting out of the prison. He also was one of the men that spoke to Barney in the church while Alice was getting medicine in the basement. If I'm wrong please add! ^^"
I lol-ed at the door part. Smash the dang mirror! And the buttons for the keypad sound like buttons on a microwave. x) Great game, Cry! I enjoyed that. And Alice is right. "It feels like nothing's changed. Like the world's always been like this." We are all just trying to survive to see another day. The endless struggle for existence.
9:24 i was confused as to why cry got all quiet. im so damn slow. like "why are you reading the dialogue like that cry? the fuck......oh....OH. god DAMN IT GAME!"
+Krystal Hawk because hes realised that the beginning of richards story is the same as the one she heard the man tell her son back in the church. when she was in the basements room? this is the start of the game telling you what Richard was doing before he ended up in the prison.
The picture was the same picture she wrote the 'weather coordinates' down on the back of when she was in the church with Barney. That was where Richard's inside man used to radio through the codes for the prison.
This kind of seemed like another game that might have made a better movie than a game, like I thought with To the Moon. But I can definitely see that rpg maker is a fantastic tool for an individual or very small group of people with little to no resources to create a story they want to create.
I spent ages typing out something. But i realized fuck it. I'm just going to say that when Cry plays games like this. It's the best.
For some reason, these types of games seem so much better to me with someone else playing them.
I was going to question why this game wasn't just called "Alice," since Richard was in such a small portion of it, but then I realized how much his actions influenced Alice's storyline, and how they both came together
Well, that left me feeling cold and empty....
I cant begin to explain how much I loved this game. It somehow struck a cord with me. I don't know why and don't know how; but it did. This is probably one of my favorite playthroughs of all time. Who was in the confession booth? In one of the alternate endings does it say?
Wow, the part with her talking to Barney's grave actually made me cry. Amazing game.
Are you two not cold?! You are like standing in the middle of loads and loads of snow and it's snowing and you only wear short tshirts?! I froze just seeing you stand there!
I guess they've built up some amount of resistance to it, if that makes any sense. After all, they've been living in non-stop snow for years.
do you really think they care about the cold at that point?..
well your body cares about cold as soon as it's too cold
You get used to it shortly though. I stand in snow in shorts and a t-shirt, after like 10 mins I get warm and it actually feels nice
NO...cry shouldn't READ. He NEEDS to be a voice actor. I have a feeling he wold be REALLY good at that.

Corpse party had tons of endings to that varied but still made a sequel anyways and it's pretty good!
He got the best ending, first try, no prompts! That's amazing.

This is one of the better indie games and for me it was right up there with To The Moon. The feels were so intense in both games
every prison scene I was bored but I was glued in whenever the flashbacks hit

Best. Narrator. Ever!!!!
Oh god I'm crying

Lol I love Cry's reaction to the Brussels sprout part when he realized who Richard was. An added note: Awesome game.
I guess this is why he's Cry... :')
You really added life to this story, Cry. I could feel the hurt in this episode. You're amazing! Keep it up!
Damn this is sad. It made me tear up a bit. Oh yeah and, best description ever. XD
Thank you for taking us through this, Cry. I was already feeling emotionally torn and crying and then your voice started faltering and went low and I just bawwwled my eyes out ;-;
Goddamn the passion in his voice and just- I'm crying because it's so sad and listening to Cry's trembling voice and I just akjlsdhfdfgjlhjkl;lk;dgs
This game is sad but cry's voice reading makes it even sader the way he reads it.
Why is Cry not a voice actor... His voice...
Wow. This is really good. Probably one of my favorites, besides Corpse Party and Ib. Made me cry at least more than twice. Thank you Cry for making a lets play of this. Without you, I have no idea what I would do without you. My hero. Take care.

I KNEW IT. I TOTALLY KNEW IT. HA. RICHARD I FIGURED YOU OUT A LONG TIME AGO.
Cry you make these games into ...like... movies with your voice acting. Seriously, thanks so much
Cry :c DONT cry. It makes me cry ;-;
this was written much better than I was expecting, though I have to give credit to cry's awesome voicing for it moving me like it did
This need a season two.
2:40 for some reason, the sheer amount of times he says "Brick, break, brick" just makes me laugh xD
while I watched this, sweater weather by the neighborhood came on. Talk about coincidence.
2013...wow. I like Cry from the past as much as I like current Cry.
eileen kelli tears shed fuck us in the feels
What really differs Cry from other gamers is that he puts his emotions into reading the dialogues, instead of just randomly mumbling like the others, making the whole play through more emotional and letting us enjoy it more. Good job cry love you x (:
10:00 cry bb u okay?
Cry you're voice is so soothing and you do the voice acting so well!
That game was brilliant, Cry. And you did a fantastic job narrating.
Wtf, Cry. Friggen description. xD
She found his family photo in the church, it's what she wrote the code on. Thus, she'd seen the photo before he showed her in the prison. As soon as he showed her, she realised who he was.
😥 wow this got to me
AMAZINGGAMEPLAY Cry. I love these games that u play and this was one of the saddest ones ive seen...
What happended to the world???? Is this our REAL future??
Nah man, MAYBE, but very unlikely. My money is on a neurotoxin **cough** zombocalypse **cough** or nuclear detonations leaving ruins scattered throughout a fractured planet called "Earth".
Damn, Cry.
Your voice makes everything so dramatic! Holy crap, I couldn't hold in the tears.
That was such a sad story.
I FUCKING KNEW IT!!!!
I understand why some people don't like the ending, but I find it better than those happy endings where the guy gets the girl at the end and starts a new life with her like nothing happen.
Alice killed herself when I played this game. :c
same
hearing how hard it was for cry to read it and/or him crying a bit made it all the harder for me to try and keep it together :'( I need a hug now
I was hoping she was going to kill him tbh
In a different world...
You do really good reading the dialogue with the appropriate emotion. Its almost like you went through the same thing.
Wow! That was something! I had started watching this a while ago, but only got to the end of Ep . 2 before I cut off from it. It has been probably a year or so before I came back to this series. But I must say, I just powered through the last 6 episodes the past few days, and this was really enjoyable!
That was amazing. I cried. i won't lie. Thank you for playing this.
They should make a film about this game! The story is amazing!!!
it's 2 years later after first watching this play through and now i'm re-watching it and still have the same emotions as last time.. I love games like this
NinjaBae i just now finished re-re-watching this. still the same damn emotions.
9:55- Oh, no.
He was one of the two guys who talked with Alice's kid.
Huh, well. The reading and acting was phenomenal on your part, Cry. Thanks!
I hope there will be a sequel to this, this was absolutely amazing, and if there is by any chance, I'd love to have you play it, Cry.

NEVERMIND! Evidently, the Polars provided this novel shelter and Jake and Caleb killed everyone. Including Lucy, the "insane old bat" that they were keeping simply for sake of human trafficking!
FUCK ME!
nice job champ, lol
I think part of the appeal of Cry is that we don't know much about him. If you start to question everything it starts to lose it's wonder and magic. Plus he's not obligated to do anything, so we should just cherish the fact that he is making videos for the public. Yet people still complain about trivial things.
Same reason he was sobbing at the end of Walking Dead. Cry's very good at getting into stories and feeling for the characters.
Wow. Great little series thank you so much Cry for this experience.
I love Cry's descriptions, probably the most interesting descriptions I've ever seen. XD
This was a unique game, and it brought me to tears around three times....RIP Barnry
I CALLED it! Richard being the guy who told the Brussels sprouts story, idk how i knew because I've never seen this but i knew it would return somehow! my mind and emotions are just so mixed from this story ;-;
:'( omg I can't stop crying. Cry is such an amazing voice actor
the guy in the confession booth used to be a meteorologist working from within the church bunker, he lived in the house so it could be sarge who left the note in the attic or yorkie with the discharge note from the army.... or he could be the guy in the window in the kids drawing i doubt it was the guy with the gun cause i think that's Richard with his daughter, but it was deffiantly someone living in the house.
Gotta love post-apocalyptic suspense stories that are actually really good :D I feel like I'm never gonna see the world the same way again.
I love how even after the games over he's still talking in his narrorator voice
I feel like this was mostly a story than a game. This made me cry. :'c Bravo!
9:24
i was confused as to why cry got all quiet. im so damn slow. like "why are you reading the dialogue like that cry? the fuck......oh....OH. god DAMN IT GAME!"
WHAT I STILL DONT GET IT please explain ;-;
+Krystal Hawk because hes realised that the beginning of richards story is the same as the one she heard the man tell her son back in the church. when she was in the basements room? this is the start of the game telling you what Richard was doing before he ended up in the prison.
mizundeadjoker Ooh, ok, I get it now, thanks
The ending massacred me.. I wish Alice stayed with Richard. Great playthrough, thank you Cry!
