It would be the same every time, because we don't change. Everything I've read in the bible about human nature is still relevant today. I think God knows us extremely well.
I love how the lyrics and music depend on each other. Most obvious in "Gethsemane". I am not religious, but that song is the whole crescendo of the production. Jesus knows what is ahead and is anxious, afraid, etc.., then in that song, he decides to trust in His father. From then on, He is at complete peace. Lots of people who study songs, say that song, "I don't know how to love him" is one of the best ever written. *shrug" Long explanation about how the notes fall together and the whole structure of it. It is 100% about faith, should be, "I don't know if I believe him". AGREED
❤Ted Neely❤ ~ Powerful Voice. Frail. Beautiful. Perfect, messed up blondish hair. Tattered burlap sack and rope for his garment. There was not a better Jesus ~ ❤
My all time favourite musical and this I think is my favourite version. I did see the original version and was hooked but something about this performance is transformative
I only saw the recording, WHO would think a comic could hold a candle to Carl Anderson??? Tim IS Judas IRL. Remember Jesus and Judas were best friends to the end. (mates) Tim is amazing, bet he can dance too. That must have been a BIG experience. I saw Ted and Carl live, Twice. But both were a stage set up, never was meant to be a stage thing. Still amazing. BTW, Tim sought out the writer, Weber, and asked him if he could play the part. He said he was an atheist, Weber said, "keep talking."
First saw JCS when I was probably 11-12 and fell IN LOVE with it. I’ve seen so many remakes. My absolute favorite remake is the one with Glenn Carter. I’ve also seen the Broadway version. Being right there, experiencing the feelings and the music…all I can say is WOW!! Blew my mind.
Hello from Melbourne, Australia Watching this on Friday 29th March ( Good Friday ) so highly suitable for a great show !! I adore Tim Minchin and even though I was raised as Christian, I'm no longer, I grew a brain when I was 16. I'm now 71 yrs young and wiser 😉
Brings back fond memories. I did sound work for our HS production of this opera, assembling the best band around, with the best musicians and hs actors from ours, and local schools. One of the early big 4 "rock operas. This is an excellent rendition.
Im 61, and I love this rendition. Tim Minchin is the perfect Judas. As far as any missed notes - its live. That happens. Not a problem for me, as it was very entertaining.
Being a musical theater fan from my earliest memories in the 1970s, JCS was a huge part of my childhood. It was the first professional touring company show I saw-I asked for tickets to see it in Chicago for my 10th birthday present. The film was shown on tv every Easter weekend, and my sister and I played the soundtrack album on the turntable all the time, arguing who got to sing Judas and who was stuck with Jesus. I really like the tribute album from the 1990s SXSW artists, with the Indigo Girls singing Jesus and Mary Magdalene. The biggest problem on that album is the guy singing Caiaphas-his voice can’t handle the lowest notes. That album has my favorite version of Simon Zealot’s song, a jazzy version instead of the usual rocker.
WTF? Aussies, who could imagine that this comic Tim (not many in the States know of him), could ACT, SING, and do it all effortlessly? H E C T I C A F. Nothing trite or cheesy about him. He is up there with Hugh Jackman. Bet he can dance too. I am extremely critical, but he is perfection. The rest are good, but he shocked me. Carl Anderson did the same role in the movie and on stage, I saw him and Ted live, Twice. Carl defined the role,, instead of most who copy him, Tim plays the role differently; he is usually angry at his best friend (mate or "C" word). Smart move Tim. "If you can't beat 'em, then play a different game." I would love to see Hugh play Judas, and Tim play Oklahoma! BTW, it NEVER says that Mary was a prostitute, not even a hint.. I imagine she was just a follower or apostle. "I don't know how to love him" is NOT about sexual love. Should be, "I don't know if I believe him", this really bothers her. The whole production is about faith or lack of it. "Do you think you're who they say you are?"
Saw this age 15 in the mid 70’s in London on a school trip along with many others 💥 Theatre productions still blow my mind today but this one & West Side Story 🤗 I brought the original Lp’s to both & still play them today (scratch scratch 🫣) Well done each & everyone for all your achievements don’t mind the negativity some people can’t help them selves 🫣 Keep sharing the music 😊
Carl defined the role of Judas, no room for improvement. Really, Tim has an angry take with his best friend Jesus, instead of just fear and panic. He can hold a candle to Carl. Tim is so different, they can't be compared. I am biased because I saw Ted and Carl live, 2 times. Tim is as good as Carl, although different.
That's the point -this is after judas is dead. His angst is shown when he hangs himself. But the show takes a sympathetic view of Judas -that he was used by God and suggests he wasn't condemned.
Como desvirtuar el verdadero sentido del musical en una única actuacion.... Éste era el momento de redencion de Judas. Con ésta actuacion os saltáis la gran obra y sentido de Jesucristo Superstar.
My sister was studying in London during the years of the original version of JCS at the Palace Theatre in London in 1972, starring Paul Nicholas as Jesus, Stephen Tate as Judas and Dana Gillespie as Mary Magdalene; she went to the Palace and then, when we visited her, we decided to go to the theatre. I was very young, nevertheless they let me in. It was beautiful
Contemporary costumes drive home the point that if Jesus came back today, he would wind up just the same as before.
🥺😮wow good point .I never thought about that 🤯
It would be the same every time, because we don't change. Everything I've read in the bible about human nature is still relevant today. I think God knows us extremely well.
Grandi! Mi hanno riportato indietro negli anni 70 e la nostalgia mi ha commosso.
Saw this live in Melbourne Australia was fantastic modern version
My life has spanned eight decades and this musical is timeless.
Dress it up in any era, it'll stand up!
Love Tim, Ben, and Mel C. BEST EVER. I catch myself singing it everyday.
Who are Ben & Mel? I know Tim but not the others. Thanks 😊
Ben played Jesus. Mel C playec Mary MAgdalen.
👍👍
This musical has always been a favourite in my family. And this is one of my favourite performances
The music from Jesus Christ Superstar was perfect!

AGREED
Minchin is fabulous but Carl Anderson , rest his soul in peace , was the best Judas ever
👏👏👏👏👏👏🙏😔⚘️
Brilliant..Minchin was perfect as Judas..the ending was a brilliant satire
Except he errored appearing smug and snarky at times. Judas was sorry and tormented…but never actually repented
Loved Ted Neely!
Me too. Saw him play Jesus many times. He was mesmerizing
❤Ted Neely❤ ~ Powerful Voice. Frail. Beautiful. Perfect, messed up blondish hair. Tattered burlap sack and rope for his garment. There was not a better Jesus ~ ❤
me too
If you don't like this rock rendition of JCS then you're too old! This is absolutely fantastic!! 👍👍😁
I’m not sure how you get a rock rendition of a rock opera.
This has always been a “rock” version. It was a rock opera…no speaking in it at all.
Just absofrigginglutely amazing rock vocals and music.
Rock-Rock Paper Scissors
My all time favourite musical and this I think is my favourite version. I did see the original version and was hooked but something about this performance is transformative
I am 65 years old, and this absolutely, amazing. By the way am from former USSR and we tried to hear this one underground.
I saw this production at Regent's Park Open Air Theatre and it was an incredible experience. Loved Tim Minchin as Judas and Mel C as Mary ❤
I only saw the recording, WHO would think a comic could hold a candle to Carl Anderson??? Tim IS Judas IRL. Remember Jesus and Judas were best friends to the end. Love and own it. Tim is a KING!!
The best rock opera ever!!!
please please post the full show again! i do not understand why you took it down.
They want you to buy the DVD!
RUclips licensing and copyright laws, if they’re not getting money they don’t want it to be seen
Jesus would be against capitalism.
This was the first professional musical I saw - fell in love with musicals after that.
Northcott Theatre, Exeter it was fabulous.

I’ve listened to JCS so many times that I can sing this whole opera from memory… fantastic work!!
me too

I adore Tim Minchin and even though I was raised as Christian, I'm no longer, I grew a brain when I was 16. I'm now 71 yrs young and wiser 😉
I never knew Tim Minchin played Judas in any of these! Crazy...
My fave Judas has always been Carl Anderson and Jérôme Pradon
I saw the 50th anniversary tour in the US and it was honestly the best live singing I’ve ever heard.
Did you have to say 50th? Jesus Christ..I feel old!😅
Great upload ending with Mary Magdalene.
Shows the pathos...
And the light 🎶
I love so much watching all the new versions of this pectacular timeless masterpiece!!!
My absolute favorite version- and I’m old enough to have received the original album for my 8th grade graduation
(Double album with lyric booklet) ❤ I believe I wore it all out - but still have it ❤
This is my favourite cast of jcs
Great picks; this cast is fantastic!
you haven’t seen other versions if you think that cast is good
Mel's voice just fit perfectly the paper! Really nice!

Fantastic musical !
Great show.
Outstanding arena production
So ahead of its time!

Ik zag juist de rock opera van 1973,fantastisch !
Got to see it live as a teenager made a profound impression. Still have a crush on Yuvonne.
God, I pray to sing the song to Jesus. Yes.Thanksgiving. Covered by the blood of Emmanuel's name above all names. Amen Love Gary
It's a stage show ! Calm down

Adoro este musical. Qualquer das interpretações que tenho visto são muito boas. Há uma que gosto mais interpretada por Glenn Carter.

They are in the film, forever! You can whatch it when you want
Crucifix gave me chills!
Where was that? What interpretation? It’s fantastic!
Majestuoso!
I’m getting obsessed and I have Three version of this play. I think I like this one even better than the first

Alana Murrin was the stand out dancer, just amazing.

0:05 Superstar
4:40 Heaven on their minds
9:43 Everything's alright
14:01 I don't know how to love him
Obra maravillosa!!!
WOW
I think Judas seriously upstages Jesus in the show.
I believe it was intended that way from the start.
The show may be calle Jesus Christ superstar but it was really the Judas show
Hi everyone, how are you? Can somebody Remind me when this whole play is free again? Is it this whole weekend?
Post the original cut without Tim’s Autotune!
Post the 2 versions together for comparisons.
Maravillosoooooo
The film version of JCS was awesome it was directed by the late Canadian director Norman Jewison.
Watched it (still do) every Easter
OMG. I thought nothing but Carl Anderson could nail this role. I am in love. This man is walking talent.
Feliz Páscoa💟💟💟
Tim and Ben Vereen are my favorite Judas Iscariot
Mel C a and Tim Minchin play excellent Mary Magdalene and Judas Iscariot! ❤
❤
Eternamente maravillosa la película original!!!
Melanie C in the arena tour of JCS
Carl defined the role of Judas, no room for improvement. Really, Tim has an angry take with his best friend Jesus, instead of just fear and panic. He can hold a candle to Carl. Tim is so different, they can't be compared. I am biased because I saw Ted and Carl live, 2 times. Tim is as good as Carl, although different.
劇団四季のエルサレムバージョン見てきました。とても感動しました。
Spice girl Melanie C in a big musical.
There is no angst or horror on this guy's face or in his voice. Judas did a horrible thing and he knew it was tortured by it.
That's the point -this is after judas is dead. His angst is shown when he hangs himself. But the show takes a sympathetic view of Judas -that he was used by God and suggests he wasn't condemned.
Not my favourite musical, however the performance is tremendous.
is my mine
You would have to pay me to see this version
I saw it…. And have seen the show many times including the original cast… this was actually amazing
Se veía en los 70 cuando se hizo la versión original en lo que este mundo iba a parar
I prefer the traditional more struggent!
Sorry, did you mean "stringent"? I looked it up and "struggent" isn't a word. Not trying to be rude.
@@qwerty26068 no i mean poignant
@@terenzioamelino354 Oh okay. That makes more sense. Thanks for clarifying!
@@qwerty26068 nop
I have seen this movie so many times and also saw the musical in person live with Ted Neely and it was much more classier than this !

Too much bigotry and old age in some of your comments. Go to church and leave us alone if you don't like it!
“Go to church…”. Please explain

xx
Autotune spoils the impression of the performance
Mary Magdalene, seven demons lighter.
The latest tour of JCS starring Ian McIntosh is much better than this😊
art is not a competition!
I saw the rock opera in NYC back in 1972. Much better than this version. This is an overkill!
People of our age appreciate the 1972 version however, come into the 2000's and enjoy a new generation. (Don't be so Stuffy).
This Judas at times came across as proud, smug like of his achievement instead of tormented🤔
I hate Auto-tune. I can recognise it a mile off
Is he even singing?
Mary M with a cross tatooed on her arm? Spoiler alert!!
I had no idea how blasphemous this musical was. But it is still one of my favorites. ❤
How can this be one of your favorites still and it’s blasphemy 🤦♂️
Judas doesn’t seem to be too tormented now, does he..
I do not like this vesion. I prefere 1973.
Eles falam coisas fora do contexto bíblico
