I know that this video is from three months ago. We had the same problem with the chickens eating eggs. We actually purchased the best nest, rollaway nesting box for 250. Then our girls got smart. The ones that were eating the eggs, were laying the eggs on the ground, while everybody else was laying in the nesting box. I haven’t watched any of your other videos because I saw this one, but did you find this happening over the last three months?
We have not experienced that with ours. We do have a lot of pullets that are just now starting to lay then the hurricane hit. Some laid outside because the coop got damaged so we are retraining them. Feel free to watch our new videos. We appreciate your support
Great idea! Why not have them roll behind the boxes rather than infront? Definitely going to be implementing this! Not enough frugal ingwniuitive diys. Thanks so much!
@@leabentley2597 we cut one side of the crate and just laid on its side so then it makes 2 openings. The original opening and a cut out side. Hope this helps!
Genius, Fantastic idea and use of everyday items!

The paint tray in the nest box is a great idea! Thanks for sharing. I use paint trays as bird baths for my chickens - they work great for that, too.
@horseshoefarmaz thank you for watching! It took some trial and error but we finally got it right, please subscribe for more content like this!
Great idea. I buy everything at the dollar store. Tarps, bungee cords, cleaners, wipes, medicine, storage containers, oil pans etc

I like it. Good idea. We have a hen or two that are eating them. I can't catch the culprits or they would be away at freezer camp.

Unfortunately since we retrofitted the trays the ChickShaw was built with no room to slide the nesting boxes forward. In the future that’s the plan!
@@FlatGapFarm thanks for clarifying. Working on building my own coupe so I appreciate any tips and wisdom
@user-zh7uy6oc5q any time! Hopefully our trial and error helps! Check out our other coop builds.
Is the side/bottom cut out of the nesting box?
