No offense but a fully indigenous missile offers much more value even if it comes a couple years later, as compared to a Russian made one. If test of 400 secs is 1/4th duration, then full spectrum is 400x4=1600 secs, and not 1200 secs as you showed in your calculations. Meaning, the missed range will bench longer than 2500 kms shown!! If it's 1200 secs as you showed, then test is 1/3rd of full spectrum , so which is the correct one?
The biggest question is whether will it arrive during this decade??? Is this program initiated to override Bramhos 2 as we couldn't acquire the required technology from Russia.

HIMARS is accurate and also cheap. China is not going to stop HIMARS rockets either.For long range cruise missiles are better. The lowest cost of hypersonic weapon is $40 million, which is about the same cost of a jet plane.
HIMARS is rocket artillery not actual rocket. I think HIMARS is a good choice for India, but not a replacement for Vishnu. At all. Vishnu is a better alternative to, let's say, Brahmos.

Second, even if it is mastered, what is the point of using $40 million+ missile when you can do the job using $500,000 cruise missile. You can fire 80 cruise missiles at the cost of 1 hypersonic missile. Russia is a good example where hypersonic missiles do not give you a winning hand in Ukraine. Hypersonics will actuall make a country weaker because you take money away from other programs.
