Sonic the Hedgehog: The Blue Blur, The King of Bling, The Fastest Thing Alive... For over twenty years he's been running across television screens, comic pages and more. This series is made to celebrate the speed demon's history from a cinematic point of view, kind of adding story to the classic titles (With a little bit of poetic license). This video covers Sonic CD as well as other classic games leading up to Sonic 4. Know the story already? Test your Sonic knowledge with the "DID YOU KNOW THAT" section! Sonic Origins has officially placed Sonic CD right after Sonic 1! I guess Eggman wanted to experiment with different Sonic robots and realized Metal was indeed the best and went back to that design? I dunno, I guess that’s my headcanon now. Regardless, I hope you enjoy this decade-old video. I had a blast making it back in the day.
I grew up watching these. Thanks for the memories! Maybe one day we can get a Part 5...

I totally respect your opinion that sonic cd happens after sonic 3 but in my opinion sonic cd is a sequel to sonic 1 and a prequel to sonic 2 mostly because sonic looks the same from sonic 1 but he looks taller in 2, the absence of tails and sonic not using the spindash normally maybe because it's his first tim using it but I totally respect your opinion 😊👍

Dear all saying Sonic CD takes place between Sonic 1 and Sonic 2..... Sonic Mania appears to beg to differ.
Considering Stardust Speedway Zone in Mania is designed as the Past seen in Sonic CD....and in Sonic CD we begin in the Present but can visit the Past... it stands to reason that Sonic CD takes place after Sonic Mania (which takes place after Sonic 3&K).
Just because Sonic looks the way he does in Sonic 1 in CD doesn't mean anything (Sonic in Sonic Mania looks more like Sonic 2 than Sonic 3 Sonic). Sonic 4 either takes place a year after Sonic CD (because of the return of Little Planet) or has been retconned entirely (due to the cancellation of Episode 3...because it failed so hard).
Besides, why would Robitnik develop two *clearly* inferior Metal Sonic replicas (Silver Sonic and Mecha Sonic) after his perfect Metal Sonic creation?

Interestingly enough, the Sonic Mega Drive comic implies that your theory about Sonic CD taking place after Sonic 3& Knuckles is right.
Actually, Sonic CD officially takes place after Sonic 1 and before Sonic 2 even when it came out after Sonic 2.
Also, in the comic (which was confirmed canon) Tails doesn't know Amy, so both scenarios with CD taking place after Sonic 1 and Sonic 3 & Knuckles could be possible so it doesn't benefit this theory in the absolute.

Stardust Speedway Zone in Mania is designed after the PAST. In Sonic CD, you start off in the PRESENT but can visit the past. Therefore, if the past is in Sonic CD and it looks like how it looks in Sonic Mania, it stands to reason that CD takes place after Mania, which is after Sonic 3 and Knuckles.

The girl is Amy Rose. Also, the movie did come out after S3&K, but Eggman refers to the Metal Sonic as Hyper Metal Sonic, meaning that the movie is also after CD.

My chronological time line. -Sonic the Hedgehog, -Sonic CD, - Sonic 2, -Sonic 3 and Knuckles. I always viewed Sonic CD as the Japanese version of Sonic 2, because if I am not mistaken Sega of Japan worked on Sonic CD while Sega of America worked on Sonic 2.

The most interesting thing about Sonic CD is in the US Manual... I am SUPER curious how this happened (and can't remember the timing of everything), but I think someone knew about the upcoming Sonic the Hedgehog cartoon in the USA, 'cause Amy/Emy is referred to as "Princess Sally" in the manual..
call me wrong but according to the sonic megadrive comic it looks like sonic cd comes after sonic 1 then sonic 2 because tails asks how sonic and amy met implying that he was never told about what happened in sonic cd and it makes sense since he isn't in sonic cd and if you count the remake that was just for additional content and not the story obviously so i think it goes

Hold on, this wasn't the first time Sonic had a voice. The first time was in SegaSonic the Hedgehog, an arcade game first released in June of 1993. (Sonic CD was first released in September of the same year.)

The reason Sonic has the sniffles in this game is possibly due to a "spider-sense"-sort of thing where he sneezes whenever he's in trouble, since in the opening cutscene, he sneezes just before a bunch of rocks are about to fall on him. This could also be why in the Sonic OVA, he's always rubbing the bottom of his nose with his index finger. It's not cuz its edgy (although that's true), its because he knows something's gonna happen, and is holding back a sneeze.

Sonic Mania is definitely the true sequel, but that doesn’t make Sonic the Hedgehog 4 non-cannon. Sonic the Hedgehog 4 literally has to be cannon cause it’s the return of Metal Sonic. Sonic Mania is in a separate timeline/dimension to Sonic the Hedgehog 4.

I like to imagine that Sonic CD is the first time Sonic even met Amy. I also like to give her the benefit of the doubt; I don’t think she was looking for Sonic specifically (she probably just had a feeling she’d meet her soulmate or something), but became obsessed with him after he saved her life thrice.
It's hinted that Amy and sonic knew each other for years. Way before the events of CD

Except it does. Stardust Speedway's bad future is canon given Metal's intro in Sonic 4: Episode 2. (Yes, I am well aware this was made prior to Episode 2) In fact, if you really think about it, Eggman kind of wins regardless. In most levels, the bad future has machines everywhere, but so does the good future, the only difference being the bad future is dark and polluted while the good future is not. Even Eggman's own stronghold is still fully functioning even in the good future, except it has animal running around.
So, really, does Eggman actually lose?
He kinda does, because he doesn't rule the world. Nice theory you got there though.
