Great video y’all. I’ve been doing quite a bit of Wild Bunch Action Shooting lately! And I just got through covering this subject for my viewers. - Jed 🤠
Nice to know, this shooting discipline has its roots in Germany were it's called 97-11 as a reference to the Eau de Cologne 4711. Greetings from Germany
Lookin' GOOD , Skinny.....But..you know me....Duelist is Coolest! (Traditional) Also...when I do get the bug to shoot "Wild Bunch" , as you know....I shoot everything with black powder....it adds a whole new dimension to a 1911 !
The Wild Bunch is set in 1913, so both the Remington Model 8 and the Winchester Model 1907 would have been available to buy and so by the rules would be eligible.
Sure. The Wild Bunch armed with BARs? The outcome will be same every time as the original. Kind of too expensive. Car collector might be a tad mad when he sees his prize possession looking like a cheese grater. 😇
They were experimenting with the self loading guns. In 1900 the model they were using I think wasn't yet the actual 1911. It would have been the predecessors. There did exist a gun in 1899 U.S. that was on the civilian market that sold well and resembled the 1911. I don't mean that Begian gun. I mean it was literally a pistol made in the U.S. and looked a lot like a 1911. It acted as one of those slab foundations in the time line where it did lead up to the 1911. Militaries were in fact experimenting and examining it. I don't think the U.S. actually made them standard yet around this period. it was just given out for soldiers to see how well they work.
In 1900 the Colt Automatic Pistol was available, it was retrospectively renamed the 1900 and with improvements evolved into the 1911. C&R Arsenal have a video on the 1900, and Forgotten Weapons has a video on the evolution of the 1911. Sorry I can't include links without my comment being deleted but the videos aren't hard to find by putting Colt 1900 in the search bar.
a little out of date - any SASS legal rifle is good now, in any caliber. BUT the 'modern' 1911 from what I read in the rules cannot have forward slide serrations or a skeletonized trigger (as shown in this video)
Any .40 caliber and up rifle. .38-40 is a .40 cal. Bullet is .401 diameter. Forget about it. .38/40 WCF feeds great, but it's a pain in the you know what to reload. .44-40 is not as bad. Try to find ammo. Go with a .44 mag or .45 Colt. For traditional handgun, Tisas makes a great 1911. Just a standard model is all you need. Right around $425. Rifles must be a lever action. A Uberti will cost about 2k, Marlins 94s are good. Rossi R92s are a great buy, may have minor problems, but you can get a slicking up DIY CD . If you scratch the stock you won't cry. Parts are cheap. In the modern class you can have any 1911 you want. Both Ruger and today have great buys on modernized 1911s.
With that many rounds I would never make it through 20+ rounds of complex sequence of shooting targets without commenting a procedural error…. Unless I could see the stages a few days ahead of time.
I’m a new sass member!

I wish there would be a special parameter to allow use of the Mauser C96 too (which showed up in the actual Old West quite a few times)
Do you have a c96 or you are just talking?

Love Cowboy guns.
Well said Skinny, Good job!
I’m sorry but the campaign hat to me is the best looking hat of the late 19th and early 20th century American fashion

Can the Thompson be added to the Wild Bunch arsenal??
Asking for a friend.😁

So can there ever be like a Bonnie and Clyde VS. Wild Bunch? Match?

Love Western movies.
Seems cool but I don't like the rules on modified safeties, I think you should be allowed to use the more modern 1911 safeties.
