A sentry gun is literally just a mortar stand with a metallic drum magazine attach to it, where the feeding portion of the drum is replaced by a camera and a small barrel. Level 2 adds two M134 barrel assemblies without flash hiders (the "thingy" he tried to mention in the video and yes that IS a flash hider, they just end up as a big shroud looking ring on multi-barrel configurations). Level 3 adds a rocket pod, which looks to me like a shortened version of the M202 FLASH launcher and rotates the ammo drum vertically. Where is the power stored? How does that tiny drum provide enough rounds for 2 miniguns AND a rocket pod? The world may never know...
Honestly it would be way funnier if the Sentry gun cannons were based off of the M61 Vulcans rather than the M134s. I mean it's overkill but so is being able to basically wave off internal bleeding by eating a sandwich.

The reason there's nothing resembling the buildings irl, is because this is the engineer's own design, he wrote the blueprints and did the math, making crude buildings to help his team or deter the other.

@@Gasman1911 its a flash shroud, not a muzzle brake. The sole purpose is to reduce the obstruction of the gunners aim. Hence why guns like the A-10s GAU-2 lack a shroud. It has no recoil reducing effect, and if anything, would actually increase recoil slightly due to diverting more of the gas directly in line with the barrels.
Yes, but like as Rizzle said, it'd have to be manual, as the drum is not removed from the gun during reloading, meaning the drum's spring would have to be rewound after it empties. For an example of this, look up the Milkor MGL, a revolving 40mm grenade launcher that is reloaded as such.

this has probably been said before, but the reason the lugermorph "bug" is there, is because there was never a magazine nor magwell modelled for the weapon, so when the game plays the inspect animation, it moves the rig for something that isnt there, if that makes sense, the same thing happens during reloads but its easier to tell that on the scout
i think the shotgun is based off a custom remington 870, the ejection port also gives it away, its very well rounded like the real 870, or most likely the classic 870

All quadripods (what all the sentries are stand on) are based on tripods used in machine guns from WW1 or something similar (look at Browning M1917 tripod). The ithica m37 just helicoptering across the screen is perfect. On this same scene, i'd like to point out engineer, with 11 phds, sawed down the ammo tube of the reserve shooter but not the actual barrel.
Another thing: The rocket box thang on top of the lvl 3 sentry looks (and works) very similar to the M202 FLASH, but red/blue and veeery veery short. So that means there is an actual M202 FLASH that has four rockets (not just 3), shoots them all at once, and also has the four barrels to do just that.

about the stock shotgun: while it has the appearance of an ithaca 37, it is more likely something else sawed down, possibly a mossberg 500 or something? the ithaca 37 ejects from the bottom (the same port it loads from) and the tf2 shotgun has a side ejection port, more like a traditional shotgun.
the Southern Hospitality actually shares more features with a measuring caliper rather than a pipe wrench, it could be seen as a mix between the monkey wrench and a comically enlarged measuring caliper
The Gunslinger also looks like the endoskeleton hand of the Terminator T-8000 series and is likely a reference to when the terminator played by Arnold Schwarzenegger sliced his arm open to inform Dyson about the future of the human race. Yes that was the left hand rather than the right, but still.
I actually got to use the golden wrench, golden frying pan, and many other rare weapons in a tf2 server, there is a command for the server that gives you access to EVERY TF2 WEAPON EVER, of course you don’t unlock it but you can use it, it was awesome

The sentry is mounted on a german ww1 era sled mount for the mg08 heavy machine gun. It gets a bit warped in the level 3 version.

I actually got to use the golden wrench, golden frying pan, and many other rare weapons in a tf2 server, there is a command for the server that gives you access to EVERY TF2 WEAPON EVER, of course you don’t unlock it but you can use it, it was awesome
