    Watching from São Paulo, Brazil. I had a small workshop once about Meisner and, believe me, this was the best workshop I had made. Thanks for sharing the class

    Jim, Thanks for the videos. They have been enlightening. Does Sevta's activity have a "standard of perfection" as William Esper use to say? Does she know when the activity is done or would she be guessing that her make up is okay? How do you teach that idea of the activity to students?

      Hi, Thanks for watching
      We don't use the phrase "standard of perfection," however a student must have an end point, when their activity is complete. It could be when the task is completed or when the time they have allocated is up. Our students are taught to never linger for the sake of completing the exercise, as that completely destroys the truth of the situation. If a student lingers, either their preparation or their stakes were not strong enough, and that would be an important area to address for the next time

    Are they improvising?

    • @TheMeisnerTechniqueStudio

      This is entirely unscripted, but we call this work "Moment-to-Moment" because this work is listening and reacting to your partner, not bringing in predetermined story. This is the main difference between this exercise and the work that usually comes to mind when discussing improvisation. But at their core, yes, they're essentially the same!

    How can I teach Meisner while in Zoom!

    • @TheMeisnerTechniqueStudio
      @TheMeisnerTechniqueStudio  2 года назад

      Hi Marisol,
      We have never and would never teach the technique over Zoom, since that human connection of two people in the room is impossible to capture digitally. The only compromise we have found is that we are able to give feedback when both students are in the same room but we are watching the remotely. This way their connection is uninterrupted
