    You mentioned in another video that vitamin B is required to metabolize sugar (dextrose). Would these baby ruminants benefit from a vitamin B shot to help with the sugar absorption?

    • @SeztheVet

      Vitamin B1/thiamine, specifically, yes. It does take a bit of time for an animal to become deficient in thiamine, but there's no harm in giving a dose as for the most part B vitmains are excreted if not needed. Necessary or not, I definitely spike the IV line with B1 if hospitalised :) Great question..

    Can you use honey instead of glucose powder?

    • @SeztheVet
      @SeztheVet  3 года назад +1

      Hi Candy. To rub on the gums? Yes, you sure can. THe only risk is honey can carry botulism, hence recommendations for human babies to steer clear for the first year of life. Considering the majority of little ice-cold lambs/kids are due to lack of first drink and have no immune system yet, I would always reach for Glucose powder, myself. But at home, being an emergency situation, honey is a certainly better that nothing, so go for it :)

    love your work. at what point do i go from warm milk to cold yoghurtised milk

    • @SeztheVet
      @SeztheVet  4 года назад

      Hi Mandy, I'm so glad to hear that :) You can yogurtise straight off colostrum. Although no more immunity is gained from colostrum after 24hrs, the high density nutrition is still awesome, so would recommend colostrum for the first 3 days, then merge in to milk at that stage. But any time from when they are on straight milk can be yogurtised. :)

    First, You really REALLY need to slow down. You speak so fast I can't understand what your saying. Theres no end to your sentences, one word blends into the next.

      Noted, thanks. This is one of the older videos. Starting out I had comments that I was too slow, while trying to be articulate, and people tapped out quickly. Still trying to find that happy place.
