Runrig (featuring Julie Fowlis) - Somewhere

  • Being the final track on the band’s final studio album The Story 2016, the song naturally took on the mantle of ’swansong’. This version is a re-recording with Bruce Guthro on vocals, duetting with Gaelic singer, Julie Fowlis. It was used as the promo single to accompany The Final Mile and Last Dance series of Farewell Concerts, June - August 2018. Whereas the original version from The Story had an atmospheric production that alluded to the ill-fated Columbia Space Mission of 2003 and the death of astronaut Laurel Clark, (Laurel had used the Runrig song Running To The Light as her daily wake-up call from Mission Control in Houston and her Runrig CD was subsequently found virtually intact amongst the wreckage in a field in Texas) this version is closer to the way the song was originally conceived: as a song of love eternal. The Story album reached No.26 in the UK charts, No.6 in Germany and No.2 in Denmark.
The song first appeared on Runrig’s new compilation album, The Ones That Got Away released in June 2018 and available from:
The official Runrig store: www.runrigshop.co.uk (available in Hardback Book format containing full lyrics and song notes)
    Also available in Amazon: www.amazon.co.uk/ONES-THAT-GO...

I came to Runrig rather late but my passion is as intense as if I had been there from the beginning. I am old school, CDs and have all, even The Band From Rockall" and so often they bring me to tears, sometimes to smile, sometimes to break my heart and sometimes to heal it. Bruce, RIP the music legacy will live forever.

No matter if you are from Scotland or far across the sea Runrig music will always be around and the fans will always stay fans. Every Runrig song no matter Donnies or Bruces voice makes the heckles stand up on the back of my neck. Passion, proudness and strength. My all-time favourite Runrig songs are In Search of Angels, Life is Hard, Loch Lomond, All Things Must Change, Going Home, and of course, Canada. Somewhere
    by Runrig
Somewhere on the arc of ages
    We are born, we cry
On this spinning orb of wonder
    We love, we die
Still the moon and the stars will shine
When we've both had our time
Somewhere in the dark I'll find you
Somewhere in the light, I'll meet you there
    Where immortal souls collide
    Somewhere out there
Can't bear to leave this path of years
And the joys that it unfolds
Can all this just be ground to dust
    Without meaning, resolve, untold
This love is gold, can't let it go
    It's for all of time
Somewhere in the dark I'll find you
Somewhere in the light, I'll meet you there
    Where immortal souls collide
    Somewhere out there
    Somewhere out there
    On the arc of ages
    On this orb of wonder
    Where the light is growing
    Where the sun goes under

But today, still no better personally, I said "hang it, I love Runrig. I love that song. I'm going to see that new video" My oh my...
