  • Hey everyone, I had issues uploading this one, I lost some clips I had taken and already edited into this. So I made the best of it and this is what I came up with. I’m no professional but I think it’ll work!

      I'm going to maybe attempt another round of videos on both turntables in the future. Stay tuned and thank you for watching 👍

    Thanks for the video, I'm waiting on the n scale version to arrive. You did a great job on this. I subscribed too. I just bought a new house and plan to start rebuilding a new railroad soon.

      Oh nice! Haha well thank you, that was similar to our situation, my new ‘layout’ is taking shape! Good luck on your build! It never ends eh?

      Thanks man, I’m planning to reinstall on my current layout soon, make sure the area you’re placing it is as close to being 100% level as possible and everything should work out just fine :)

    Congrats too for NOT locating the TT at the loop end of the bench like so many do with the loop track typically going behind the round house !! I really like the river going behind it and the bridges....very cool scenic call !
    But I think the coal mine over there 10:17 is poorly situated... It should be far away up in them thar hills....Maybe keep the spur but make it a lumber yard or tank car / oil or syrup facility or, the caboose track.. I do very much though, like your work....

      Haha thank you sir! I thought it was too! The roundhouse in Swift Current, SK back in the day was located right along side the creek there, which was a bit of an inspiration for that bit.
      I agree totally, unfortunately I had limited space in that 5x20 layout and I wanted to use that coal mine. The layout itself has since been pulled apart, and rebuilt. But now only to be pulled apart and rebuilt again when we move. Again haha love and learn right?

      Go/Via/orgohome me too haha benefit of running transitional era! I guess you could do one in ‘modern’ but you’d have to really change its appearance. There’s one in Alyth (Calgary) but it’s not used very much...Kipp (Lethbridge) uses a loop track.

      MAYNE_line I model Ontario northland. They have a small one in north bay. But I changed up my layout so it didn’t make the cut.

    I am planning on doing a 330° roundhouse. I think I did the math right, but I know the building will take a lot of room, haha. I took a rough guess of around 5.5 feet length and width.

    • @MAYNE_line
      @MAYNE_line  3 года назад +1

      I believe it, crazy how fast you lose space with just a single building! Worst is when you see it on the layout for the first time too haha everything works on paper (or in your head...or both in my case, on the new layout lol)!

      Desert Rat nice! How long is that table, I’m just curious as how it compares to the 130’ one...I actually don’t have anything big enough to warrant the full 130’ yet, but I tell you what, the Royal Hudson was a tight fit on the 90’ table. I’m looking forward to Rapido releasing their Selkirk models in a few years. I’ll definitely put my order in for a couple!

      Robin Gagnon yes sir, still do, my plan was to buy this later on, but with the 90’ not being as reliable as I had hoped, I opted for the DCC one. I’ll use the 90’ in a future project I’ve had stashed away in the back of my mind for more then a few years now :)

    Thanks for sharing this video. When this things swings a full 180 to change loco direction, do you need some type of reverser wired to the turn table, or is there one built in?

    • @MAYNE_line
      @MAYNE_line  2 года назад +1

      No sir, the DCC version I have has an auto reverse circuit built in, the only thing it does is shut off track power half way around to reverse the circuit. It powers back up right after :)

    IF I ever get the time/money/space for a layout I want to model something completely fictional and of my own design not linked to any real world actual place but I want a turn table with storage for 8 locos because I have to have CP's 2816,2939,2950,2858,2860,5931,5935, and CN 6060 as an odd duck

    • @MAYNE_line

      I had thought about that a lot, it would be cool! Running your own fictional railroad...maybe one day...but yes I totally agree, that would be a wicked set up!!!

    • @MAYNE_line
      @MAYNE_line  3 года назад +1

      We’ll both are fine, for you James if you’re not planning to run anything bigger then a Royal Hudson you would be fine with a 90’ version. But let’s say you’ve got two gp38’s lashed up together and want to spin them both at the same time, I’d recommend the 130’ version :)

  • @dobs78
    @dobs78 Год назад +1

    Can you do a full 180 defrees and turn locomotives around, then drive it off in reverse with out causing a short with dcc? Do you need to install a reversing module? Thanks, im thinking of picking one up

    • @MAYNE_line
      @MAYNE_line  Год назад

      Yessir, there is a spot on these dcc turntables that shuts power off automatically, which auto reverses the track on the table itself. It’s pretty smooth when it works :) you need a separate power supply to power the table though, it doesn’t just run off track power. Use a quality power supply. I use an atlas power supply that has DC and AC outputs. The table runs off AC, you need track power only for the track itself. Sounds confusing but everything is explained in the installation instructions, the dcc turntable are way easier then the kit versions for sure…
