60 Minutes: Update: Keep out

  • On Thursday the Prime Minister announced he was imposing tough new restrictions on gas exporters to solve our domestic energy crisis and reduce prices for Australian consumers. It’s a drastic step which Mr Turnbull says is needed to save the economy, and more particularly 65,000 jobs at immediate risk. But he also says state and territory governments must allow greater gas exploration to increase supply. That’s all well and good, unless it gives the gas producers a licence to do what they want. Last year 60 MINUTES reported how cattle farmer Kane Booth was forced off his land, his livelihood destroyed, when Queensland Gas Company (QGC) moved in to extract coal seam gas. Well Kane is still fighting, and QGC is still acting like a bully. www.lockthegate.org.au/dont_fr...

I hope you read this or someone close. If you have a group representing the local Aboriginal tribe who can come in and find any aboriginal artifacts on this property you have a new legal ground to get them out.

From what I've watched so far he made a mistake in not reading the contract properly or getting a lawyer or equivalent to read through the contract before signing it. To get them off the land now would be very difficult. Would an irrigation system be the answer to get water back on the land? They're not going away so push to have them fund an irrigation system then maybe he could at least get some cattle back on the property.

Here in the States we would not be faced with this issue. Here we would not have this issue unless landowners lease to a oil or gas exploration company. If a landowner leases to a oil and gas company and they choose to drill you might be letting your self in for a lot of disappointment. The fact is don't lease to one of these companies unless they and you have all of the facts in your agreement or contract. The key here is don't lease unless you have legal help with the contract.

Gas exploration industry need not unfairly enrich themselves at the expense of another. Imminent Domain should not apply and a less heavy handed and more mutually beneficial arrangement should be sought. Unfortunately Governments tend to favor knee jerk solutions for big problems needing immediate fixes. As a Canadian we seem to have mastered for the most part the art of beneficial compromise, it slows down the decision making quite a bit when dealing with big business and projects that are in the national interest, but it is capitalism with a conscience.

"The rig hangs like a dagger
    To stab our mothers heart
    Loaded up and charged
It will blow her veins apart
The ground starts to tremble |
As Dark clouds fill the sky
I put my arms around my brother

Make them tunnel in. They claim the resources remain the exclusive property of the Government, but you own the top surface...
Allow them to own and use the resources under the surface as they wish but defend your right to using the surface as you wish. Like I said, if they want it, they can tunnel in an get it because you retain the rights to the use of the lands surface. Lol.
I know there are access clauses at play here, but ‘right or wrong’ refuse to acknowledge them. I don’t recall any ‘law’ that infringes on a private citizens property rights being granted by the people. The government only has power to process law, not make it, the parliament (elected members of parliament who represent the people of their electorate. NOT the appointed senators and misters who represent the interests of the party’s) is the only government body who can form and draft legislation to be passed into law. Ie; the people, through the voice of their representatives make the law, the senate and its ministers can only process the legislation. The prime minister (he is only a ministerial representative.) then takes the document to the Governor General who establishes it is in line with the conditions of the Constitution and law and determines/approves wether the document is entered into law.
This is roughly how it is SUPPOSED to work anyhow. But it doesn’t thanks to corrupted political practices which serves to grow their own power within the parliament rather than authentically serve the people of the country.
So stand up for yourselves! Just because a ‘law’ make a certain proclamation, doesn’t mean that proclamation has a legal standing under constitutional law.
And this is why the push is on for Australia to become a republic. View anyone promoting this ‘inconsequential’ reform as a person guilty of high treason’ as once this transition takes place, the chains are off and violations of peoples rights, such as this video’s example, will seem trivial in relation to what would happen to us under a republic. Make no mistake, this videos story perfectly shows how our own government is violating our rights and our constitution. Regardless of the definition of today’s ‘law’
If the crimes against the people where horrendous and wide spread enough, there would be mass outcry and the issue would be front and centre in Australian culture and the issue would be exposed on a sufficient/meaningful scale and remedied. And politician jailed. Thats why the gov shows relative restraint (less and less so.) as there is a ‘noose’ hanging over their head should it all come to a front.
No such threat would exist under a republic...
    Mark my words;
•Disobey invalid law while we can!
•Refuse the notion of Australia transitioning to a republic as doing so will open the flood gates of government actions that remove citizens rights and liberties. (Your views on the Royal Family has SFA to do with it.)
    You have been warned...

READ THE CONTRACTS YOU ARE GOING TO SIGN FFS The previous video showed the contract and it clearly stated that they were in their rights to have free access to the property and to install 3 production wells among other things. They wouldn't be there if the landowner didn't sign his rights away. I feel for the guy but he had millions of dollarydoos at his disposal and should have hired a lawyer. Now they fucked up the water supply to the guys land, which can be fixed by installing an irrigation system under the roads.

Looks like a need for some sabotage to be returned to where it came from. Take a bulldozer to all of the access roads. Large diesel equipment love a big drink of corn syrup. Tires for the big tractors cost thousands of dollars. Or best would be an anonymous delivery, to each well and empty pipe, of something that gets very loud, and messy. Or, just continuously destroy any access they use, replant grass, remedy the drainage problem, buy removing the roads. Make it too big a nightmare for them to bother with.

Awesome guy: The government should pay his lawyers. He's feeding Australians. I do hope his cattle and calves are treated well, but the Australian government should care for independent farmers, not property damaging, environment unfriendly solutions. Power in Australia should be green energy. They should be funding this courageous farming family for bovine poop energy conversion for heaven's sake. Australian customs are constantly on the lookout for items that are harmful to the australian environment and then double-standardising on those laws by bludgeoning land with this coal-mining rape on the environment. It makes no sense.

I am hoping Nine and the NFF are giving some Quality Advice to Kane and his Family, such as:-
Don't give up on the Property Kane, Start Farming it, there is No Reason why this Property can't be Duel Use. The water problems are minor, start growing Pasture on that area and put your Cattle on it.
Kane Lots of Farms have started out with problems, it is Hard Work and Brains that turns them into an Asset. Come on Kane Stay Focused on the Goal, Your Happiness and Your Families happiness, once you turn this Proerty into a Success, then onto another if you wish.
