The steps were moved to the other side of the house after they remodeled the house and took down the wing. Linda Blair had to have her neck vertebrae fused after filming was completed due to Friedkin demanding so many takes of her head spinning scene.

The left side of the house was built by the production. Just for the movie. A prop.

The reason they built the extension was so that when Father Karras jumps out the window, it lines up with the steps.
just an fyi, not trying to be rude. they didnt cut the left side of the house off. it never existed in real life. they built an addition to the real house which added an attic, and made the house look closer to the stairs.

Worked there for years (midnight shift) place is different, lots happened. Have not watched the movie

I can't for the life of me find the exact location of where Miss MAcneil was walking down the street in Georgetown and where she met the priest on the bridge. Can you help please?
Looks familiar but can't seem to pin point it.
Actually it goes over the canal.
When I first seen this movie at the movie theater in Springfield, Mass. I was more scared of people puking on me on their way out. I can say that the church's got a full house and the electric company made more money because everyone went to sleep with the light on!

Hello Croatia! My grand parents were from there and my dad was a membe of the CFU. Used to go to the Croatian festival all the time. Would like to visit there one day! Thanks for your comment.
