However on the immigration system, before applying for passport renewal my new name was updated. Hence I proceeded to the high commission with my old NIN slip. To be completely honest, i wasn't asked for NIN. Other ppl i met there only had their NIN number. I had no issues at all and my new passport was delivered in 2days. I said 2days. They do not accept proof of change of name. I was given a slip to fill form that has to go Abuja to be corrected. This I did February 2022 and still not received my new passport.
Hi. Thank you for commenting. I have seen this on Nigerian High Commission website: Change of name can only be done by virtue of Marriage or Divorce. In this case the following documents are required: a) Marriage Certificate; b) Consent Letter signed by the husband; c) Data page of the husband’s Passport; d) Applicant’s Valid Passport. The Mission also effect change of name as a result of Divorce. The applicant is to provide the following: a) Divorce Certificate; b) Proof of maiden name, e.g. Passport before marriage. Hi, I originally booked an appointment for 20th March 2025, but due to an emergency, I am needing an earlier date in January 2025. Would it be possible to do a walk-in for a date between 22nd and 24th January? On another note, has anyone used the Contactless Biometric Capture (CBC) App in the UK? It was supposed to be launched in November 2024, but the app is horribly and incredibly frustrating to use. Today, it refused to connect to my internet and kept claiming there was no connection available, even though my network is stable. I’m starting to wonder if the app has even been activated for use in the UK yet. Any insights or advice would be greatly appreciated!

For the first question; I’ll update you later on it as my daughter is capturing next week so when she gets her passport back I’ll know if things have improved. 6-8weeks is from my own experience receiving mine. Travel if your passport is still valid for at least 6months when u intend to return back to the country (UK) you can check online as well.

The National Identification Number (NIN) is issued to you by NIMC after your enrolment. As long as it has a NIN written on it then you wouldn’t need to do another one
Move the mouse pointer over Passports on the menu bar, and then click on Application home on the menu bar. Move the mouse pointer over the Processing Link on the menu bar, on the drop down menu that appears, click on Interview [reschedule]. Enter your reference number and Application ID and click on Search Record. Scroll down to the bottom of the page and click on the Re-schedule button. Your application is redisplayed with a new interview date.

Is not the same. It’s your appointment slip Enter your reference number and Application ID and click on Search Record. On the Passport Payment Receipt page scroll down to the bottom of the page and click on the receipt and acknowledgment slip links to view and print.

Hi. Keep using your tracking ID and track your passport. It should change to dispatch for delivery or something like that. Not sure why it has taken long. But I don’t think you should be worried if it shows issued. I’d be worried if it’s still showing processing.
I was not given an option to print out my receipt after payment, so I could not print out proof of payment, however, I received a mail notification. Please, how do I go about downloading the receipt?
Hi see if the mail notification had a pdf file attached to it so you can print it out. If not , search online for how to print receipt for Nigerian passport renewal UK , you will enter like application number or a reference number that will show you your receipt.

Based on personal experience, in the past , Yes it is normal but past few months, no it’s not. They’ve been sending passports back quickly based on comments on this channel but I think the holiday/festive period slowed things down a little.

Hi. I don’t remember it asking for any supporting document but if birth certificate is prompted for you to upload then find a way to get it. Someone in Nigeria can help you obtain this from National population and send to you.

Hi. With the new system, you need your Birth Certificate. Here’s what you can do, if you have a friend or family in Nigeria, ask them to help you go to National Population Commission (NPC) in their area and get another one for you. NPC will need some details from you such as: Full name (Surname first): Sex: Place of Birth: Town/Village: Date of Birth: Father's full name (Surname first): Mother's fullname (Surname first): This is what I did for mine and they person scanned me a copy and also used a courier to send the original copy. Hi Uche, I did the corrections of data cause the name on my soon-to-expire passport is different from my NIN as I just did a change of name to my NIN, towards the end of my application on the portal, it’s asking for a sworn affidavit or proof of change of name despite selecting applying outside Nigeria. @@mayowajohnson1204 That will still work. Please before you embark on the journey to your appointment. See if an enrollment centre can help you check that your name and DOB is correct. A close person got toe high commission and there was a mistake in his DOB.

@@onyemechiajunam9527 06:30am is too early sis. You will be cold out there. The office door opens 09:00 and until that time everyone will queue outside. But if you’re happy to arrive that early then you will be the first person to go in and on or before 12 noon you should be done.

Yes by all means select the available date you are seeing. From 3 experience from renewing for my family, you cannot reschedule when booked. The system is programmed that way

I’ve actually booked the appointment date but the status of the application is still saying waiting for approval, I’ve done this since February last year and appointment date is March do I just keep waiting or can I go on that appointment date even when it still says waiting for approval ?

Hi. I got that from Nigeria. You can get UK change of name affidavit from a nearby court. The change of name publication I got from Nigeria was a newspaper publication I used for NYSC redeployment. Then I went to the court to get a legal change of name affidavit. I think affidavit from UK should be okay but still check Nigerian high commission FAQ and see if that was answered

However, when I was applying last night, on the final page of the national immigration service site, it asked me to upload birth certificate and old passport data page. I don't have my bc with me so I uploaded my NIN document and the passport data page and paid. Then I went ahead to select an appointment date for January 2025. Hi, You would need your Birth Certificate on your appointment day in January 2025. You can get this through Nigerian National Population. A family or relative in Nigeria can help you out with this

Thanks Uche the problem was in the zoom facility of my browser. I had to reduce the zoom from 100% to 80% to see the Submit button. It was the developers who did not size the app to fit in any browser easily.

Hi. You have all that you need. Acknowledgement slip should be the same as appointment slip which you have printed out. Except that you would get the envelope and postal order.

Hi. To my best of knowledge. The new print comes out when it actually reflects the name change. I would suggest you call the enrolment center this morning and ask. They have a way of checking this. If your name doesn’t change on NIN then high commission would not be able to work on your new passport because their system would not allow them proceed.

Good day, I recently applied for my passport last month. I want to be sure, could you please verify the list of documents and the Nigerian embassy address to despatch those documents to. My appointments date is January, is there means to bring it closer as my passport will be expiring by December
Hi. Nigerian High commission address in London is in your Appointment Slip. You don’t dispatch the documents before your appointment but you will go to the High commission on the date of your appointment with ALL necessary documents. I don’t think you can bring your date closer. I’ve tried multiple times and it wasn’t possible. If you’re not travelling out of the UK then you are safe to wait for January to get a new passport. There’s an evidence you booked your appointment before it expired
Hi. NIN is the same as long as it’s a Nigerian Identification Number. So if you have a NIN from Nigeria then you can use it as long as the details are the same as your passport

Please when making payment, did you make separate payment for you and your child or one can make payment together as a family as in, add all the money together and make one payment? Hi. I said I applied for my child in December 2023 and I got date for March 2024. I don’t know if you understand. I didn’t capture on the same day as my child. It is possible to get same date as a family as I have seen families in high commission who had same appointment. I’m not sure you can make application together as a family and pay as one. But, start with one application and see if there’s an option to add other members of the family to the same application. If this is an option, that would be great. (Would love to know) If the option above doesn’t work then what you can do is to apply for everyone differently first, make payment and then open different tabs on your browser with each applicant and choose appointment for same date and time. 🤗
Possibly. If you live close to London you can try this but the paper one is part of the requirements. Alternatively please call the nearest NIN office in your city and ask them if they can reprint or reissue you one

For the first question; I’ll update you later on it as my daughter is capturing next week so when she gets her passport back I’ll know if things have improved. 6-8weeks is from my own experience receiving mine. Travel if your passport is still valid for at least 6months when u intend to return back to the country (UK) you can check online as well.

The National Identification Number (NIN) is issued to you by NIMC after your enrolment. As long as it has a NIN written on it then you wouldn’t need to do another one

Is not the same. It’s your appointment slip

Hi. Keep using your tracking ID and track your passport. It should change to dispatch for delivery or something like that. Not sure why it has taken long. But I don’t think you should be worried if it shows issued. I’d be worried if it’s still showing processing.
I was not given an option to print out my receipt after payment, so I could not print out proof of payment, however, I received a mail notification. Please, how do I go about downloading the receipt?
Hi see if the mail notification had a pdf file attached to it so you can print it out. If not , search online for how to print receipt for Nigerian passport renewal UK , you will enter like application number or a reference number that will show you your receipt.

Hi. I don’t remember it asking for any supporting document but if birth certificate is prompted for you to upload then find a way to get it. Someone in Nigeria can help you obtain this from National population and send to you.

Hi. With the new system, you need your Birth Certificate. Here’s what you can do, if you have a friend or family in Nigeria, ask them to help you go to National Population Commission (NPC) in their area and get another one for you.
NPC will need some details from you such as:
Full name (Surname first):
Sex:
Place of Birth:
Town/Village:
Date of Birth:
Father's full name (Surname first):
Mother's fullname (Surname first):

Yes by all means select the available date you are seeing. From 3 experience from renewing for my family, you cannot reschedule when booked. The system is programmed that way

I’ve actually booked the appointment date but the status of the application is still saying waiting for approval, I’ve done this since February last year and appointment date is March do I just keep waiting or can I go on that appointment date even when it still says waiting for approval ?
You should be able to go but I’d also suggest calling the contact no for Nigerian high commission to double check

You can get UK change of name affidavit from a nearby court.
The change of name publication I got from Nigeria was a newspaper publication I used for NYSC redeployment.
Then I went to the court to get a legal change of name affidavit. I think affidavit from UK should be okay but still check Nigerian high commission FAQ and see if that was answered

Thanks Uche the problem was in the zoom facility of my browser. I had to reduce the zoom from 100% to 80% to see the Submit button. It was the developers who did not size the app to fit in any browser easily.

Hi. To my best of knowledge. The new print comes out when it actually reflects the name change. I would suggest you call the enrolment center this morning and ask. They have a way of checking this. If your name doesn’t change on NIN then high commission would not be able to work on your new passport because their system would not allow them proceed.

Let me drop this here as an update. I did not get a new NIN slip after my change of name. However on the immigration system, before applying for passport renewal my new name was updated. Hence I proceeded to the high commission with my old NIN slip. To be completely honest, i wasn’t asked for NIN.
Other ppl i met there only had their NIN number.
I had no issues at all and my new passport was delivered in 2days. I said 2days.

Hi. Nigerian High commission address in London is in your Appointment Slip. You don’t dispatch the documents before your appointment but you will go to the High commission on the date of your appointment with ALL necessary documents.
I don’t think you can bring your date closer. I’ve tried multiple times and it wasn’t possible.
If you’re not travelling out of the UK then you are safe to wait for January to get a new passport. There’s an evidence you booked your appointment before it expired

Please when making payment, did you make separate payment for you and your child or one can make payment together as a family as in, add all the money together and make one payment? Also, appointment, you said your appointment was in March why your child ws in December, did you apply together on same day and got different appionment dates or you apply on different dates ? Is is possible to get same date as a family applying together?

It is possible to get same date as a family as I have seen families in high commission who had same appointment.
I’m not sure you can make application together as a family and pay as one. But, start with one application and see if there’s an option to add other members of the family to the same application. If this is an option, that would be great. (Would love to know)
If the option above doesn’t work then what you can do is to apply for everyone differently first, make payment and then open different tabs on your browser with each applicant and choose appointment for same date and time.

apply for everyone separately but dont pay. when you are done it will show all the applications you did, then you came pay it all together.

Possibly. If you live close to London you can try this but the paper one is part of the requirements. Alternatively please call the nearest NIN office in your city and ask them if they can reprint or reissue you one
