2008 FA cup is a memorable tournament for me, most of the Premier League teams eliminated in earlier round, only 4 teams in quarter final (Man United, Portsmouth, Chelsea, Middlesbrough), and then left only 1 team (Portsmouth) in semi final.. Never see this scene again after that.
remembered watching this on tv. was really, really frustrated liverpool lost it in the dying seconds of the game. the barnsley 'keeper was superb on that day. save after save. liverpool just just couldn't get another goal and got punished in the end. credits to barnsley, though. it wasn't easy beating liverpool at anfield at that period of time.
Remember watching my late grandad jump up with at the end result. Loved seeing his face smile and how ectsatic he was. I was in shock but happy we won.Definitely one my favourite memories watching our beloved Barnsley win at anfield
as a liverpool fan i have 2 say i admired the way barnsley didnt give up,,its games like dat ,dat makes the fa cup wat it is!!....hope 2 see liverpool lift it soon but it was barnsleys day! YNWA
I was there in the barnsley end as a young lad, my grand parents were season ticket holders at BFC for 50+ years. My team is Derby County (Dad) but as a lad if i wasn’t going to derby i used to go and watch Barnsley. Im now a season ticket holder for derby and have been for many years but that away day is still up there in the top 3. Fond memories and always will have a soft spot for the tykes
Still hard to believe the final literally turned out to be Cardiff vs Portsmouth. And also the fact that Barnsley were the conquerors of Liverpool and Chelsea
@brewster11ify no man u beat a completely different barnsley team 2 years after. good video anyway I wish I could go back to that day and live it all again
That goalkeeper for real? He decided to come off his line and then went back again 🧐😂 then he is beaten on his near post for the winner... Same keeper that was sacked after laughing at a Hillsborough ceremony. Disgraceful
@prometheustv6558 wolves have been a more established team than Barnsley will ever be. Barnsley are a small club in history hence the defeat being so embarrassing
@prometheustv6558 invalid point. We as fans would have preferred to have lost to Wolves than Barnsley. Barnsley havent played in top flight since 1998 and are considered giant killers. Wolves are not considered giant killers.
I am an LFC fan and can't believe how poor we are in domestic competitions when you see how well we generally play in Europe, but have to say hats off to Barnsley and especially to Luke Steele - what a performance! Would swap him for Itandje. This is turning out to be the most interesting FA Cup for years; it's just a shame we've contributed to the drama in the wrong way. Hope you do the same to Chelski!
yea, as a chelsea fan i was wasnt disappointed when barnsley beat chelsea cuz the last 5 or so years, the fa final was always livepool, or chelsea or man u or arsenal. so i was happy when portsmouth played cardiff. it was something different.
At the end of the day yeah Barnsley may have been lucky but they went out onto that pitch with pride. Being a lower division team they put their heats and souls into the game and played with passion. Liverpool may have went out there with the belief that it would be an easy victory against a lower division club. But this is football and more importantly this is the FA Cup, anything can happen! Barnsley put everything into it and despite what people say, they deserved to win the match! ~Dan~
come on barnsley!!! if we can beat liverpool chelsea should be no problem! UP THE REDS!!!! 96 years of w8ing 2008 is our year!!!! we're bringing it home this year!!!!
It should have been a Barnsley FC v West Brom final, look at the state of Pompey & Cardiff now, they were over spending and now look like going bust. Both Barnsley & West Brom are well run clubs and deserved to be in the final on merit, not on credit.
if liverpool didnt take off babel it would have been a different game altogether. He was ripping us to shreds on the wing and they go and take him off. Cheers liverpool. i whatched this game on the big screen down at oakwell. shit hot.
@racewalkingrules This is exactly my opinion. I am a Manchester United supporter, but why should the Premier League teams get a free pass through the opening rounds? Why should United, Liverpool, Arsenal, Chelsea, et al enter the tournament later on while smaller, lower-budgeted teams have to fight through extra games to survive? Part of the reason why we keep seeing the same old clubs in the final rounds over and over and over
First time in 13 years that a non-Big 4 EPL club will win the FA Cup (Everton 1995). First time since the Premier League was established in 1992-93 and the first time since 1987 that Manchester United, Arsenal, Chelsea, and Liverpool were bounced out of the FA Cup before the semifinals.
Good job Barnsley. We have same in France actualy. Carquefou (CFA2) 1 - 0 Olympique Marseille for French Cup. Carquefou have 4 divicion under Marseille. I like when small team win against big team. Manu from Britany.
We went to Anfield in 82 in the League Cup backed by 10k away fans 0-0, we to anfield in PL in 97 and won 1-0, we went to anfield in the FA Cup in 08 and won 2-1, never underestimate us Tykes anfield is fearless for us
richly deserved. even having the ref obviously singing from theyre song sheet they couldnt win. that was a penalty all the way, the ref should be struck off for not giving it! theres no excuse at all, right in front of him
I hope never again to see Itandje in the box. He is so undecicive at the equalizing goal. Luke steele, on the other hand, was superb in this match, barnsley were lucky to get him on a loan..
@STOPTHEEU i agree with you...no ones out done that as yet...but if u read the example he wrote abt this one beating that one who in turn beat the next...bla bla bla....it doesnt reflect how football truly is...get me? i like barnsley too :D
hunky2008 you might want to take a leaf out of zombo111's book about gracious losing, our keeper was outstanding but the fact of the matter is we scored twice you scored once.
I was merely commenting on 2 clubs current situations, and Liverpools current situation is shit, all those trophies haven't being won for a while. Just face it mate, Liverpool aren't what they used to be.
Crouch is class, yeah THIRD class. Congratulations to Barnsley. What a cross from Devaney. And Howard, nice little shimmy to freeze Carragher to give himself a little more space for shot. And for Steele, a game of his life. Typical of Babel, no hesistation in running at the fullback (a lower division fullback) while he shirks out of every opportunity and turns inside and lays off the ball when in playing EPL, b/c he knows he hasn't got a chance of beating the fullback to the byeline.
Good luck to Barnsley! I love the way Barnsley thought they were going to get a Penalty at The Kop End though..about 1,000,000-1 Odds however blatant the offence was!
lol @ the manager asking his team to calm down. Too bad the FA don't want this to happen anymore, they are trying to kill off the FA Cup by seeding top clubs, it's a disgrace.
Hey mate, hows it going? you like football manager games right? i found this cool one online footy-manager com its very similar to the football manager game. check it out. its pretty cool actually.

Only Wigan and Leicester have ever shocked the cup since
Portsmouth stopped a treble
A rock solid penalty. Barnsley deserved this FA Cup tie on that alone.
I love it when David beats Goliath.
Barnsley won though. LOL 🤣🤣

love it how howard just kept on going and didn't hassle and pursue the ref. great player
as a liverpool fan i have 2 say i admired the way barnsley didnt give up,,its games like dat ,dat makes the fa cup wat it is!!....hope 2 see liverpool lift it soon but it was barnsleys day! YNWA

The greatest cupset of recent years in my opinion given location and circumstance.
I concur. Thanks for your efforts and passion
THUMBS UP IF U FROM BARNSLEY I AM
Still hard to believe the final literally turned out to be Cardiff vs Portsmouth. And also the fact that Barnsley were the conquerors of Liverpool and Chelsea
barnsley fc we'r by far the geatist team the world has ever seen
thebarster deluded 😂😂😂😂
Best video i've ever seen, from a Leeds fan
@brewster11ify no man u beat a completely different barnsley team 2 years after. good video anyway I wish I could go back to that day and live it all again

A shite keeper who didn’t give a rats about Liverpool or its fans.
Luke Steele was on fire!
That was the first Liverpool Match I ever saw live....not at Anfield..but the first game I saw on TV that wasnt tape delayed.
Itandje was absolutely shocking on that first goal. Can't believe he lasted more than a season at LFC
Especially after his Hillsbrough memorial antics.
If Jurgen Klopp was managing this game and we lost like this. There would be total destruction in the dressing room!
Hahaha
Liverpool lost at home to Wolves in 16/17 in thee FA cup who finished 15th in the championship
@prometheustv6558 wolves have been a more established team than Barnsley will ever be. Barnsley are a small club in history hence the defeat being so embarrassing
@@Red-Red-Red-Red point is under Klopp you lost at home to a championship team that was bottom half of the table.
@prometheustv6558 invalid point. We as fans would have preferred to have lost to Wolves than Barnsley. Barnsley havent played in top flight since 1998 and are considered giant killers. Wolves are not considered giant killers.

i was there that day. amazing. it felt better than beating chelsea
What a cool video! :) Keep up the good content ;) Hugs and positive vibes
this is 10 years old xD
What a shipwreck of a club Liverpool F.C. has become.
so how did that go for ya?
With the exception of around 2 years in the time since this comment was made, it's pretty much on the money.
yea, as a chelsea fan i was wasnt disappointed when barnsley beat chelsea cuz the last 5 or so years, the fa final was always livepool, or chelsea or man u or arsenal. so i was happy when portsmouth played cardiff. it was something different.

can't belive that we beat liverpool
+Brett Flavell Is the FA Cup anything could Happens !
AND Chelsea ;)
Luke steele was immense.
Barnsley deserved that goal so much after getting the penalty denied.
simply..... brilliant!
Revenge for March 1985 and Ian Rush at Oakwell.
I Know what you mean! Lower league teams for the win. I Support North End!
come on barnsley!!! if we can beat liverpool chelsea should be no problem! UP THE REDS!!!!

It's still happening now, everyone should start at round 1.

great result for you best of luck in the next round
one of the lucky teams ever...LFC had like 20 goal attempts that match..i remember Kewell missing at least 5 massive chances..
Incredible. Im a Rangers fan but that was incredible.
whats the song called
I know it's injury time, and players get tired ... but what the hell was Xabi Alonso playing at before the goal?
Good job Barnsley.

@DavetheCAFCAddick
And another Lower League side has beaten Liverpool at Anfield: League 2 side Northampton Town in the Carling Cup
Really wanted Liverpool to to win!
same i was just watching havant v liverpool and it happen there aswell i wonder why
as a liverpool fan the only thing that kept me sane after that game was that oldham had already knocked out everton
I LOVE IT!
Come on you Tykes!
@swindontownfan Well would you not be pissed off if you had lost to barnsley?
The BBC not showing a replay of the ref bottling it infront of the Kop? Well I never.
i forgot how good that Steel lad was in this game
what part of liverpool are you from jellyboy?
Make it three.
Manchester United defeated Chelsea in the 2008 UEFA Champions League Final via PKs.
im a chelsea fan but i think barnsley deserved 2 win against lfc and cfc
well done 2 them
OH YES HE'S WON IT
Is that some sort of agreement in his loan to Barnsley that he cannot take part in any matches vs West Brom?
@Jelle1880 agreed. they should go in at the first round in my opinion like league one and league two.
shame about the bears(chicago)mr sano sano hahaha wasuup bruv!! hats off to barnsley!!
barnsley beat chelsea and liverpool. why arnt they in the premier league yet.
It gets funnier and funnier everytime I watch it
ikr how liverpool was that shit before

ull never believe this but weve won there on 3 consecutive matches now
you're wrong man, liverpool vs atletico in this season chamions league, against arsenal in last year 1/4 final
